Ideas what to do, stick or switch
@Aspman Well done but not good that it went that way. I found that when a Dealership messes me about that getting a loan of a demonstrator and not returning it gets their attention. When they say they are getting the police i say on you go, i am getting the Tele & the Courier article sorted right now, and the Sun and the Record. That used to get a refund and interest and expenses through into the account quite quick and their car back. Last time there was a nice gesture payment because they co-cked up so badly.

Citigo Tyre Time
@maxychat You should maybe do some driving in the Scottish winters in various Skoda and then give an informed opinion.

Citigo Tyre Time
Capability & safety features are different things. If you need a push if you are stuck then the Citigo is the best one to be in (Red or Lime Green, maybe yellow not a white one) and as far as the FWD Skodas the Citigo is as capable as a Fabia, Roomster, Octavia, Yeti, Karoq, Scala, Kamiq, Kodiaq or Superb on winter roads, likely as good as a RWD Enyaq will be. Easier to stay warmer in as well if you are stuck behind snow gates for hours with just a tank of fuel or less. PS I think the Briskoda founder @ColinD used his Citigo for trips to Scotland even in the months of winter.

Octavia Mk2 DSQ200 Auto DSG Gearbox
Your issue now is with the repairer. They took your money after doing the work. People have tried getting to court with a claim against VW but VW claim they do not make the DQ200's even though they and Skoda do, so they use the fact a separate company. No Class Actions in Europe, but individuals have had them pay up with Expert Reports are being prepared to go to court to have them defend themselves and have to reveal the numbers of failures. People got new DQ200's out of the Warranty Period of 3 years in the UK while the going was good. Solicitors letters in Scotland, Experts Reports and prepared to go public with the reports but prepared to sign confidentiality agreements. Same thing happened with engines like 1.4 TSI Twinchargers. But that has passed now with time and you are on your own. ? When was your car built that it needed the Synthetic Oil changed to Mineral when they had already started a World Wide Recall by 2012 and changed the oil used at the factories? By 2014 there was service campaign '34F7' o DQ200's from 2009-2012, & in 2017 Service Campaign '34H5' on some from 2013-2015. A software update needed after that chang in the Factory oil.

Advice needed on + and - of going from 17" to 16" wheels
@Carlston ? What cars is it that you actually drive other than your Fabia estate and with what tyres? You regularly go on about the benefits of narrower tyres and this time you say what you say about the 205/70 over the boy racer 225/50's. You keep going on about conditions. I can tell you having run many type of tyres that the Narrower is better like for cutting through snow and getting grip is not always the answer. I have 265 wide CrossClimates on my Shogun rather than the standard 285's, but on Snow the 265 is not superior to the 285's and 235's or 225's would not b better again in snow, or on roads that have compressed snow on them. On Jimny's for over 15 winters instead of 205/70 R 15's i have used All Terrain, M+S or 3 peaks in a 225 or 235 on 15" or 16" rims. Reason being they worked and worked well on snow & Mud and wet. When someone in the UK maybe doing a few hours driving or miles on slush and snow there will be black top again and no snow or slush. Mixed conditions and mixed weather and temps are part of driving in the UK. *When roads are covered in water then narrower might reduce the chance of aquaplaning, that is if not using good wet weather tyres.* 225 width tyres on something the weight of a TDI Yeti or even a TSI are not some crazy dangerous fashion that is bettered by going narrower. Nobody is fitting 'narrower studded tyres'. Bottom are 3 peak 235 15's on a Jimny. Travels on snow well and better for grip than if there were 205's on. Both TDI's so heavier than a 1.2TSI's.

@J.R. 20% is VAT if being charged from the customer to pass to HMRC not to keep. So not £68 to the garage, if they are registered for VAT. Not changing drain plugs, 'o' rings or filters might well be a decision made as a vehicle is worked on and inspected but not something that can just be dismissed before hand as you can find anything once you start a job. If the same people / place are doing regular servicing on the same vehicle they might well know what they need to do or replace. They are in business for gain or reward after all and not just charities.

Haldex service on Yeti
The Service Interval was quoted at Main Dealership for Skoda @ 4 years / 40,000 miles while VW were saying 3 years, then 30,000 miles. Then some Skoda Dealerships started to say @ Service Desks '@ 3 years' regardless of miles. It is much as with Cam Belts. Pick a number any number, pick a price any price, and do not include Filters that many say are not required. It is a farse.

Buying a Superb 280
Skoda Dealers can call it up, and Skoda UK CS's can tell you. & Motorpoint should know what the Service Record is if advertising the car with the Service Record. Maybe they have Print Outs / Invoices. If they have not the licensed equipment to check the VW / Skoda system this is an issue when they Service Cars which can not be put on the System. Someone will be able here to tell you how the System can be checked online by owners.

Buying a Superb 280
@Norco Main Dealer Servicing should include the Body Inspection as Skoda UK have that on all the Fixed Price Service & Maintenance websites. Sadly Skoda UK are then very commonly saying 'Body Inspections' not recorded if anyone makes a Warranty Claim on Paint or Corrosion. So best be sure it is on the System. No Books to check unless an owner purchased one, so get a print out of the Servicing done. Part Numbers if there are any. Recall Actions or Warranty Work info as well. Haldex Service is due @ 3 years. Even if low mileage.

Buying a Superb 280
@Norco What does the services mean has been done, 2 oil and filter changes and a pollen filter and look sees and a report. Are there body inspections on the servicing details on the system for the sake of the Paint / Corrosion warrany?

^^^ Amazing given the cost of parts even at trade price. They must be taking a very low hourly rate. They can not be paying much tax on profits. Only charging £56.66 or so without VAT for parts and labour.

Karog Stop start not working
Is it worth the bother during a Covid 19 Lock down in Wales? If the car starts and runs and stop / start is not functioning then it can be sorted later. If the car fails to Start then Skoda Assist can be told to sort it with a new battery in and stop messing about wasting the OP's time. If Stop / Start not working during lock down and doing limited travel means that you spend more on fuel tell Skoda UK to recompense you. So that might be 50 pence due to the owner for every 100 miles driven.

Engine Oil leakage led to Engine failure
On a phone so can only see the post and nothing about your car. ? What engine do you have and where is the oil leaking, does it come out the engine and can be seen or is the fuel diluting the engine oil and being burned. Very different ways that an engine can use up the oil.

Or as is sadly common drained and filled using the wrong drain and fills. Guessing or eeny meeny miny moe is sadly 'Simply not clever' when involving Skoda Main Dealer techs. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/485788-cracked-haldex-unit- Ideas what to do, stick or switch
Sadly it reflects just how little 5 year old 335d x-drive is going to get at auction. Some sales person coc-ked up in a major way on what they could punt the car for even if it was going to WBAC. PS I just did a WBAC check on a 2015 registered 60,000 mile one with 1 previous keeper & FSH. So they came back @ £13,000.- Citigo 6-speed Up gearbox swap?
