  1. @Jfhuk ? Are you keeping the car? ? Have you paid some part of the cost so that the new engine is covered by a 2 years parts and labour warranty. Or is the Manufacturers Warranty going to expire in November so the 'parts supplied under Warranty' are not covered after the 3 year warranty.
  2. What a song and dance some make about something that does not affect them unless someone with dodgy tyres and driving hits them or theirs. Nothing to void insurance with the Correct Size, Speed / Load Rating tyres with legal tread being used on a vehicle with a valid MOT / MOT Extension, or even a vehicle that does not require a MOT. No declaration for modification if using, summer, winter, snow, wet weather etc tyres. PS Strange behaviour from a Garage / MOT testing station employees / management. Common type of behaviour though around the UK. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/485121-evergreen-dynacontrol-eu728
  3. Not that far off topic. Some just leave the front lights so the car to decide what is on and when and might have no idea what others see in the way of lights, DRL's or Side Lights and Dipped beam, or even Fog Lights that come on as they reverse. Likewise with rear lights, nothing on because there are DRL's to the front, or sidelights on and brake lights as they brake, and even brake lights on with Autohold functioning or with some cars no brake lights on when stationary. Not really 'Simply Clever' to not know what is what and when.
  4. There are beautiful ready to go 90 / 110 & 130's all over the place for sale, but when you get in the lovely seats the elbow room is still as it was when they left the factory.

  6. It will be, simply slipped in by Skoda and nothing special in the way of a map. No extra weight. Just ripe for more performance without much effort.
  7. @TheFozzy Your Supercharger comment is a bit odd, but the waterpump and magnetic clutch can be an issue after a few years and need replacing. So mid 2012 which is more than 8 years ago the CAVE was discontinued and the CTHE was introduced. Still with some of the Fundamental faults in Design / materials / engineering & use of OEM Consumables that were inappropriate. That is just how VW Group are though, take a great idea that others can make work when not euro pinching and coc-k it up. Not sure where you have see VW blame the piston rings, as VW Group never admitted to any issues, they preferred to blame drivers, they did replace rings and scrappers and breathers and software and oil spray jets and more, but never owned up to being crap at engineering on this engine. Home mechanics and commercial mechanics know what the issues are and how to resolve them and have a more reliable engine and with better performance. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/421365-links-to-lucifers-ultimate-guide-to-14-tsi-twincharger-engines So @150ps they were and are a pretty good engine. Worth putting on a Dyno to actually see what they can generate in the way of power. 2009 https://autocar.co.uk/car-review/seat/ibiza/first-drives/seat-ibiza-1.4-tsi-150-fr then 2012 http://evo.co.uk/seat/ibiza/7142/seat-ibiza-fr-review Skoda fitted a 1.4 TSI 125ps with DSG to the (very) limited edition R5 Mk3. Happily in the car and could be tuned.
  8. 'Autohold' is fantastic, the issue is that some vehicles have Brake Lights on with Autohold which is fine with many and the EU regs, but really is not as the UK Highway code advises when sitting square wheels for a while. My EV happens to not have Autohold, but the 'e-brake' is there to just pull up the switch and when driving away just use the accelerator. I do cover the brake pedal all the time though, because it moves so easily, just as i do really when driving DSG's with Autohold, unless flicking on the 'e-Brake'.
  9. e-brakes stopped being hand brakes when they became 'finger brakes', so the 'parking brake' / 'emergency brake' going on when the car was already held by the 'autohold' does not strain the DSG.
  10. @Aspman Nail on head. Just checked the cars Info on the Phone App. It knows where it is sitting parked, knows when a Service is due next and in 3 years time, knows most of the journeys it has made, and shows that the charge in the battery is @ 87% and the range might be 111 miles. So quite a few less than it was showing when i parked it when it was a good 13 *oC cooler than it is now. Off out on my e-Bike that gets Software Updates via a phone App which gives notifications when they are being done, usually they are to improve the performance and range.
  11. So 6am this morning the car decided it should change some of the features / characteristics. I drove the mile i was going, heated seat on, heated steering wheel on with light working on the steering wheel. Stopped and stopped the car and noticed as i moved the steering wheel that there was very much a Cornering Light beam. OK. Out the car for 5 minutes and start it and the heated steering wheel light is not on so leave it, but the steering wheel gets hot. Get back home after 3 miles this time and get out the car and it decides the lights must be on or on Auto but on Sidelights they are now parking lights. So i switch to Auto and lock the car with the Key Fob button press because Keyless Entry and keyless start do not always lock the car when leaving. It can lock and unlock it as you move about washing the car, and loading and unloading stuff. But the headlights will not go off, tried opening car, checked boot closed, doors closed, lights on Auto, and it takes walking away and pressing the key a few times to be sure that the rear Sidelights and Front Sidelights & dipped beam are not going off. Went in the car, checked the screen settings, Welcome & Leaving settings which i had to off are now on at Full. Checked all the other settings and all seem to have reverted to 'Factory Setting' or to the 'Spanish Option' settings. The car must be feeling home sick, maybe not liking the night time temps below freezing. Manana.
  12. You can watch how tyres go on rims in a factory on Youtube. Tyre Fitters in a Tyre & Exhaust centre clamp the wheels differently. Some are hashy and damage the wheels, or clamp not in the centre bore only. Some are hashy just moving wheels / tyres from the car to the Tyre Fitting Machine, then the Wheel Balancer, and back to the car.
  13. VW Group have a partial solution for the 1.5TSI EVO and issues with DSG's. They are going to have the 1.5 TSI with a DSG as a Mild Hybrid only and also do the same with the 1.0TSI's with DSG. So pulling away will be in Electric mode, and much smother and will do very nicely for the WLTP & RDE2. That is the future, if you can not sort it then bodge it. As to the Manuals, then VW keep on about super efficient new gearboxes. No idea if they are now fitting these or not and if they can 'fix' the issues that have the cars perform poorly when cold or starting off while still cheating the WLTP / RDE2 results.
  14. Tyre fitters may well damage rims. But white worm on wheels that have never been to a 'Tyre Fitter' other than in a Skoda Factory, then transported and arriving at a dealership and getting no knocks is to do with the actual wheels as purchased by VW Group and fitted to the cars. Crap idea where style has become more important than the longevity of the product which needing treated with kid gloves.
  15. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/464539-problems-with-vega-alloys Loads of threads on the White Worm over the past decade in Briskoda forum.
  16. The No.3 Lead issue should not be present on a 1.2TSI from 2016 as it was something known with Euro 5 1.2tsi's so pre 2016, but never take anything for granted.

RWD in snow is not a concern on a well balanced car with the correct tyres for driving in snow. So very much the same with FWD cars. BMW i3's do OK, and Smart's. The Up!MiiCitigo electric replacements will likely do just fine as well. Skoda have a Motorsport Heritage and Success with rear wheel drive cars. So the VW Group / Skoda / SEAT / Audi just need to be fitting wheels and OEM tyres in sizes that are readily available in not over expensive All Season / Winter or Snow tyres.

The Postie and the couriers and delivery vans get about just fine. Picture from a post by @Kenny R
  19. @umpie Is it a 1.2TSI ? Resetting / turning off the Light / deleting the fault code is easy, but you want to know if there is a code, and want to know what is causing the light to be on. Maybe a sensor, maybe a wire or connection so you need someone to check. How many miles covered, and any servicing done like spark plugs replaced yet?

Not a 'Recall' or even a RECALL if Registered keepers are not being contacted by Skoda or Skoda Dealers, just a Service Campaign or even as they like to call them a 'Recall Action'. Truthfully a 'Skoda Secret Service Campaign where you might hear on line or possibly if you have 'Main Dealer Servicing'. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions
