E-bike
@Colin170CR You can get updates for the bike by email. Different Manufacturers have Apps and you can have the bikes settings available to change on your phone before riding or during. You can have the phone visible and get your speed, power, maps / navigation for a ride. You can set an e-Bike and use GPS and say how far and how long you are riding and how much power you want spare. It regulates the power and helps be sure you use it to get the ride in and not run out. You can trace your bike if it was stolen and someone powers it up & many other things. You get the battery condition / health, motor temp etc etc. You can change the Max Speed that you get assistance from the bike and go from the UK legal limit on the road and go to the US speed say for riding offroad. You change the circumference of the wheels and fool the system. EDIT. Success, thanks to good old Youtube. Heading Offski once the Fog lifts. (I have the handlebar shifter)

Which Camper Van?
@VWD There is very little Off Grid after the people with Camper Vans and Motorhomes headed for solitude of being Off Grid and became part of the hoards in further flung places.

DSG gearbox - what to expect?
@CJJE Did your DSG get the service campaign '34F7' after it was started early 2014 and have the Synthetic Oil changed to Mineral and the software update?

DSG gearbox - what to expect?
@XiLander I would happily have / buy a 1.0TSI with a DQ200 DSG, used or new. A 1.6TDI with a DQ200 is a bit of a gamble if you want a car to keep a while. I would not have a 1.5TSI with a DQ200 dsg, but then i would not have a 1.5TSI EVO no matter who says that VW have them all sorted. That is a double gamble if you are spending your hard earned money.

Auto lights issue ?
I never drive with just DRL's. In anyones car. I would never drive early morning sunrise or sunset with Sidelights only and during bright weather i sometimes do use sidelights depending on the vehicle. I can not see the contradiction. The point is i know what i do and when and do not leave it to the lottery of 'Auto'. You can not programme other peoples cars lights if driving their cars for a while. (Some do.) Plenty Technicians put DRL's off when working on cars and forget to enable them again. I am glad @J.R. posted about candles. My van is sitting unused and due a MOT so went to check how the lights are and the passenger side is out. I would have spotted that next time i was away to use it.

Auto lights issue ?
So that could be 6 days of lights out and you might not know. You would need to disable DRL's to know if they came up as a light out warning, many do not. Lets not say the majority, because we do not know the percentage. PS when heading off from home i check mine in the reflection of Farm Foods window as i come to a halt. Side, dipped, full and DRL's if there are those. That lets me see what others are seeing.

Location of engine oil temp sender
I read your 00 bit and more often than not type it but seeing as you had just explained i never bothered. Nobody said that VW508 00 / 509 00 was backward compatible. VW508 00 / 509 00 is the spec from VW for Fixed or Variable and VW502 00 can still be used in the TSI engines for fixed servicing. Dealership Staff & Call Centre / help line staff still need to get their heads around what has been used since 2018/19 so that they can tell customers. Bottom screen grab has the fuller story, the emissions...

Auto lights issue ?
You are on a forum were daily people are asking about upgrading their lights. People that think their driving with DRL;s on should maybe start their cars and walk to the front and see if they are because many have 1 out or as you see by a cars age both out. No warning lights to tell them and they are non the wiser.

Which Camper Van?
Not the best time obviously, just the lack of places for emptying chemical toilets is an issue. Then those that are not aware that some septic tanks can not be used for emptying chemical toilets into.

Auto lights issue ?
You have a hard hit coming if i have no lights or just sidelights or dipped beam on coming up a street in broad daylight and you pull out without me having the stopping distance. If the majority of sidelights are like candles there must be a minority that are not.

Revised timing chain 1.8 tsi
It can be as New, as good as New. VW have a refurbishing plant. The Blocks are reused not scrapped, the heads are reused not scrapped. Unless the head or block arrive as scrap obviously. Plenty 1.4TSI / TFSI Twincharger engines replaced were refurbs and not new, but they come out the crate looking identical new or refurbed. Baunatal Kessel Hesse Germany. They remanufacture lots there.

Which Camper Van?
There are towns and villages around Scotland overflowing with Motorhomes and Campers, Girvan actually welcomes them and let you park up at the Harbour Sea Front Car Park and the car park at the West end of town. Both have public toilets. Elsewhere there is not such a welcome on some hillsides and areas. So to the point. There is a Large Motorhome / Camper sales place in Ayr and a couple of smaller sellers and they have vehicles for sale. Plenty Motorhomes and Campers at sellers everyplace and no shortage of choice. Buying New and having converted is nice, but getting something others paid over the odds for is very nice. Prices might well be up but there are value for money vehicles around.

Location of engine oil temp sender
Tesco , Asda and others do have oils that say various things on the bottles and if it is to or exceeds then these multinationals are not selling you engine killers. Amazon, Google & Microsoft were against oil and gas and pollution but then could not miss out on the money available so they are assisting the Oil & Gas industry in getting Oil and Gas reserves out cheaper. So even though Amazon do not have a 'Branded' Engine or any type of oil they are very much involved in the oil business. From the factory now the VW Engines get VW 508 / 509. 0w 20 FS IV. With the Supermarket Brand or other oils the VW502 00 FS is for TSI's on Fixed Servicing if you want use. Not Long Life and not for TDI's.

Auto lights issue ?
@DaveMiller Nice to hear you are looking carefully for what is behind you. You will know then that Side Lights / Position lights are not 'Parking Lights'. Parking lights to be used for when a car is stationary / parked are put on by putting the indicator down and a front and rear sidelight will come on and on some vehicles both registration lights and on some cars / Skodas 1 registration plate bulb. (The UK Highway code really needs updating, the bit about Parking Lights and the bit about Sidelights within built up areas and in the Speed Limits / Street Lit areas.) I tow and drive vans and would not have Sidelights only on or DRLs, in rain, light rain, moist air or anyplace there is poor visibility. I do quite a few miles all year on bikes and you really see lots of what motorists do in the way of lights and not much to do with the UK Highway Code. Those that are observant will see just how many cars there are about with a faulty DRL and when you look in the mirror as the previous poster does you think it is maybe a motorcycle off in the distance and you stay put until it passes. Lots and lots of odd lighting setups around these days, some cars with lights that give little clue to how far or near they might be away. Some lit up like Christmas Trees to the front and once past you ziltch to the rear other than a couple of reflectors and a Yellow Reg Plate as the disappear into the gloom, fog, dark, snow / sleat. Likely they have the Lights set to 'Auto'.

Auto lights issue ?
@john999boy I do give it thought and consideration, and like to see how my lights look to others, like cyclists and pedestrains. I will drive with Dipped Headlights and rear tail lights or Sidelights in bright daylight / daytime, i will not drive with DRL's on cars with them, * Costs nothing to have on dipped full beam, i had Volvos with Dim Dip, which was a great idea IMO* annoys nobody if it is light / bright and you have dipped headlights on, and if they flash you then they at least spotted you and that dipped beams were on, they were not dazzled, i only have one car on the road now with DRL's. They are not that bad on the e-Corsa really, but then the sidelights are OK in the Daytime and the rear lights are on. It had Matrix Head Lights, they are very very bright and really crap for other drivers on even on Dipped at night. I will not be driving with no lights on and not just Sidelights or DRLs in poor weather / visibility / low light. Mk2 Fabia vRS DRL's were and are ridiculous when on as DRL's and not much better when they are the Sidelights or Sidelights on with Headlights at lighting up time. Really if people in Daytime and Daylight can not see a moving vehicle there is issues, and as it is the DRL's to the front are on even if vehicles are not moving but the engine is on. As for 'Cornering Headlights / Fog lights' that come on Automatically as a driver selects reverse, that is mental and many drivers are not even aware they do that and they are putting on front fogs for no reason, they are going backwards, Grey / Silver cars with the cloak of invisibility should have front and rear lights on i think and i have 3 in that colours. Since on a rant i will bring up Brake Lights. Some VW Vehicles have Brake Lights on when the 'Autohold' is on, and some do not, and many drivers have no idea what they have.

So I went and bought a Jaaaag
I visit a couple of BMW dealerships in Scotland. Near impossible to park as a customer even in the Disabled Spaces. Rammed with used stock not selling, Demonstrators being used by staff and some new cars waiting to go off someplace some time. They really like to look busy busy busy.....

@shyVRS245 Have you had your Superb across the water from the UK to Continental Europe since getting it or modifying it? If so how was it on 102 ron minimum petrol compared to on 99 ron minimum?

Service Kit
@Xsr So i know German Engineers and have experience of German engineering. Some very very good, and then German manufacturers spec crap components from many places around the globe and for the cheapest prices they can get them. Hence the shortages just 2 years ago of components for the VW Group because the suppliers had had enough. There are some German Engineers & their employers and management so full of poo it is unbelievable. Carry on as you were. It takes all kinds.... You get very good e-Bikes from German Manufacturers, you pay for that quality. Rather good motorcycles. Good canoes and kayaks as well. Good white appliances. https://www.osv.ltd.uk/are-volkswagen-reliable

Esc and traction control speed threshold
@User-C Which is why the advice is in Owners Manuals about those circumstances and also when using snow chains. Well actually they say to free yourself if stuck in snow.. @EnterName There are posts from members in Norway and elsewhere about 'Inhibiting / turning off' the ESP / ESC for fun in the snow, then also fun on Motorsport tracks. As it is with XDS & XDS+ when the Brake Fluid or the braking system gets too hot it disables it's self anyway. With a Mk2 Fabia vRS and others you could turn it down, or up or put 'Off'. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/227295-who-needs-a-lsd http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/474230-disable-esp-vcds
