VW ID. 3 (rear wheel drive) :First Drive by Fully Charged. Youtube vid.
They have had long enough now with so many years having passed since they started showing the concept ID Buzz. Pity they are more talk rather than trousers.

TSI or TDI?
We will not know if the current DPF's & SCR vehicles are sorted out and all is good at 5 years old until there are 5 year old ones from when the were WLTP Approved in Europe. So that is a few years yet. Just like GPF / OPF Petrols. Some of those have had issues already. Vorsprung Durch Technik. VW Group are going Light Hybrid and Plug IN Hybrid because cheating WLTP & RDE2 results is not easy now.

What a nonsense from VW with Software and updates later. They really do seem to be in trouble for whatever reason with 'New Technology'. Some sort of Peace of mind Guarantee is needed over and above the Manufacturers Warranty where if they have co-cked up the cars will be bought back and the owner just pays a fair rental cost for the time they had the vehicle and miles covered.

New Landrover Defender are you up for one?
Many like farmers, game keepers, builders etc moved away from Defenders to Pickups that could tow what they needed to tow and give some comfort as dual use vehicles. To carry 4 people or more in a Defender needed more money spent to get them. As to rolling a Standard Defender, they did not survive that very well in most cases and repairing was costly. If people want or need a Defender they can just go buy one, then try keeping it out of the hands of toe rags that want to steal it. http://strathearnengineering.com/sales.html

Motability June 2020 List, with some Electric Car Advance Payments down.
Colour and spec i am waiting on, just different badges. No idea yet if i can get it handed over to me before possible changes in Lockdown in Scotland Mid July. The Advance payment changed and went higher after i ordered and now is much lower and i hope it will be the same when the list changes in July which is the 3rd quarter.

NZ Kamiq 5yr warranty?
Can anyone say, ? Is there any reason the Skoda built in China do not go to New Zealand, or do some Skoda & VW models actually get imported from there? Is it to do with Trade Agreements and tariffs?

2 year service plan - brake fluid?
@tunedude If you were never offered a Brake Fluid change or asked for one and paid for it you would not have got it at 3 years regardless of your mileage. As it is the technician might of checked the H20 content if the master cylinder as some do and many do not.

Possible alloy wheel issue?
At least they are predictable. It has been that way for over 10 years now. Sometimes a Warranty Manager at another Dealership sees things another way and knows that the outside influence is VW Group, but there is a valid warranty claim and treat the customer fairly.

1.4 TSI timing belt and water pump change
That could be 16 years or even 32 years before inspected, and who would inspect and not replace while at it? Hence manufacturers might suggest 'time in years', and VW, Audi, Seat & Skoda might have different Recommended Guidelines for 'The same engines', then there are different recommendations for different world regions.

New Landrover Defender are you up for one?
@skomaz How much were they paying where you worked to buy a 110 Station Wagon, or just 90 Pickup or Van or a 110 Pickup or Van? My experience of Land Rovers is the the Utility Companies have paid more than that for many years to the Special Division and converters for their vehicles, and many companies spend very large amounts hiring them and leasing them, and that includes Police Forces when they are caught out in winter. People often have no idea what a basic, 90,110, 130 or 150 actually cost, and what they were once you added some spec in the way of options. Cost without VAT and with VAT added. https://engine710.com/sales/ https://engine710.com

The new (resurrected) family wagon - project log
@ChrisCh Does not sound like it was a car owned by Motability Finance. The V5 goes in the name of the person leasing the car. The Service record should be Main Dealership and on the system. When a car has it's MOT before the handback there is an Inspection report, & when the car is handed back the Dealership Employee takes pictures which are then used for the Auction & they do the condition inspection. (For 2 months Motability thought i still had their car, and wanted it back, and even when i told them AC had it advertised for sale they would not believe me.) When my car went back in November i made sure the wiper blade that was not available at the Service & MOT was fitted. Motability pay well for the Services and MOT, and work is authorised, the only bolshy ones are Kwik Fit about replacing tyre. (They claim at the tyre centres that it costs them which is nonsense.) AC must have sold it, as it got a new MOT in May, and it has no advisories on that. (As is quite normal when they are MOT a sales vehicle...) EDIT. Actually still advertised for sale at AC's.

4th Year Annual Service
That beats the Skoda Fixed Price Menu pricing for Servicing & Maintenance at Participating Dealers. That is £199 for the DSG Oil Change & £60 for a brake fluid change done at the time of a service.

The new (resurrected) family wagon - project log
@shyVRS245 Point being. The Service should not be patchy. It is Full Main Dealer Servicing history with Motability. Not all Disabled people use Motability to get cars, business users as an example. I used to buy and sell Ex Motability cars from back when they were Mini's. Then from a List, and after that at Auction, selling them as 'Disabled persons car' one driver, never raced or rallied. Also i fitted hand and disabled controls as an Authorised Fitter.

The new (resurrected) family wagon - project log
@shyVRS245 Motability cars are owned by Motability and the person leasing does not pay for Servicing / Maintenance and not even for AdBlue. The cars are MOT'd at least 1 month before handback and that can be as much as 2 months before being 3 years old. Motability leave the cars on Variable Service intervals and the services are done maybe at 20,000 mile intervals if the car is doing the miles. *If Motability owned it at 3 years old, 40,000 miles the Main Dealer Servicing should have had the Haldex, DSG and Brake Fluid changes done. That is to Manufacturers Schedule / Guidelines.* My 66 plate 2.0TDI SCR DSG Alhambra had a RRP at £32,000. The Invoice to Motability was £24,500 and it is for sale at Arnold Clark after they bought it at BCA last December. Advisory work at the MOT was not carried out, and the rubbish OEM tyres i put back on before the hand back are still on it. I would not touch it with someone else's barge pole. Arnold Clark asking £16,500 last time i looked. PS You are allowed 20,000 miles with a Motability Vehicle. so 60,000 miles with a 3 year lease. (years back it was only 12,000 miles a year.) If you have done under 15,000 mile in 3 years you can apply to extend the lease for another 2 years. PPS You do not get a 'Refund' you get a 'good condition bonus payment' which is £600. If the Condition is good. Currently people can apply for that early to help them out financially.

2 year service plan - brake fluid?
@bajabugsteve I hope they are only asking £60 for the brake fluid change while the car is in for a service. That is the Participating Dealer Fixed Service & Maintenance price, and there is no need for it to cost more.

Visually etc. My car of the day -today
- Number Plates
@silver1011 Has it changed now and the name / trade mark & postcode of the Plate Supplier is no longer required on the plates?- ‘Premium’ diesel
@Schtum If it misfires on Diesel from Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Costco then it must just be the same on anyone's Regular Diesel from Esso, BP, Gulf, Shell, Texaco or other filling stations as diesel is diesel, the Supermarkets buy in the same diesel when not getting Premium Diesel. If bought in Scotland the diesel came from Grangemouth or a Greenergy depot almost certainly.- The Fabia (1.4 tdi pd1) is dead....long live the Fabia (1.6cr Monte Carlo)
@DieselMonte Someplace Skoda should have a record of when your car was done as someone will have wanted paid for doing it. I have posted that very video quite a few times in threads about the fix. The reason the 1.6TDI CR was the last to get approval was because of the Flow Device. VW started with Caddy and others, and early ones had issues.- Front Disc Size ?!
Sadly 'General guides' do not apply here. @Carlston what age of Skoda do you have and maintain? Sadly with modern VW Group discs / Skoda discs the days of them outlasting 2,3 or 4 sets of pads are over. The discs are what can become covered in cosmetic rust easily, then badly rusted edges, and even the braking surface on the far side delaminating. There are plenty examples of this in this and other sections of this forum. This is why Dealership Workshop Employees upselling is out of order because they need to be trusted and be honest. Location location location, use and type of driving, parked on road or not in winter and various things come into play, and if a car is on variable servicing and looked at every 2 years, and a MOT each year after 3, but not actual servicing of the brakes, maybe not even a brake fluid change means best not generalise when it is peoples safety involved.- Front Disc Size ?!
@knocker235 If you can not look at the front and rear pads yourself and see how worn get someone else to, and if the technician was upselling then tell the Dealer Principal that people put trust in people being honest and caring about lives, and chancers have people distrusting them. Then name the Dealership online.- What gets checked/changed in 20k mile service
I never like them to be unchecked for long. But a dry Pollen Filter can be taken out, vucuumed and blown through with air and the area washed and it put back, or changed. Same with Air Filters, if clean each time checked then if you want to spend money then replace, but if your are not in dirty cities / towns / traffic and maybe country areas with lots of stour then filters can be good for 3 or 4 years. Location location location. Servicing and maintenance is what car care is all about, not just spending for spending sake IMO.- What gets checked/changed in 20k mile service
@roaddetective If the plan you got was 2 services on fixed interval that was 1 minor / interim and one major / oil change/ inspection So at 24 months, 18,500-20,000 miles or sooner a Pollen Filter change with a 1st Major Service. - Number Plates
