  1. You now find this functionality on the MIB system.
  2. In answer to the OP, they are marginally more comfortable. I think the seats from a MK3.5 FL model are better (quality) that the MK3 seats but as JR stated...it's probably wear and tear. My recommendations are one of two options. 1) Find a good car upholsterer in your area and leave the car with them for a couple of days to improve the seats for you. 2) Find a good (scrapped) MK3.5 set of seats and swap them across.
  3. When you have the genuine towbar installed, there are two parts to this. Firstly is the preparation stage. This fits modules (like the towbar module) to the car and adds in all the wiring to the loom to make towing a reality. The second part is the fitting of the tow bar and the coding to make this happen. What happens (and what I think has happened here) is that only the first stage has been done. You need to have the second stage performed by a Skoda dealer to complete the installation. The towbar module itself won't stop the park assist system (and in fact it's there to assist with the park assist system) but if your park assist system is not working then it's either going to be a wiring issue or a coding issue.
  4. What's the code scan say? Unlikely to be the sensor and the connecting wire....more lightly and electrical fault.
  5. Apologies, I cannot see the video. It's not working. Yes, calipers could be loose, but I cannot see that. Knocking around the suspension area is usually associated with the strut tops though and I suggested you look there as its a known weak point.
  6. On a TSI engine, it all depends on driving style in all honesty. My (rarer) spec TSI 190 engine Octavia L&K gets 52mpg on a long run with super unleaded. On the various TSI VRS models I've owned, Ive had between 38-44mpg which is about book value.
  7. Suggest you put out a shout on the VCDS thread asking for peeps who can assist in London and Home Counties areas.
  8. Yes, you do need to tell the car it has a new battery. Where are you based? I'm sure there is somebody near you with the appropriate kit.
  9. I would check the strut tops. They are known to wear and knock. Check the mounts themselves, make sure there is no wear or corrosion. It's a weak point on the Octavia.
  10. It strikes me that there are two possibilities here. 1) state of the battery. Not enough Ah or CCA capacity in the battery will cause starting problems. 2) distance the car travels. If you are using the cat for short journeys, then please take the vehicle on a long and fast journey and allow the car to do a full regen. You can also get the car to do a forced regen to zero out the soot levels if needed. Yes, glow plugs will start failing after 100k miles and need replacing (all 4 at a time ideally) Any chance of a full code scan as opposed to a partial scan?
  11. You can also do it in ODBELEVEN too. The battery needs to be coded in (unless your car is an early MK3 with no stop/start).
  12. It will be on the V5 registration form. There should be markings on the toe ball. If it's a genuine VAG part there will be a VAG part number on it. Otherwise it will be a third party installation. Just go with the weight of the rack plus two bikes. If it exceeds 75kgs then it will probably be too much. More to do with the vertical damping and suspension ability more than anything else.
  13. You are right....I've deleted my posting. Sorry...was thinking about a different setup. Yes, MIB1 systems are no longer updated. However what I will say is that it is usually (relatively easy) to upgrade from an MIB1 to an MIB2 system (with larger screen). The OP can contact @pab567 who can assist with that if they wish.
  14. It's easy to switch it off. You just need an ODBELEVEN dongle with the VAG software and switch off the soundikator.
  15. It's then probable that we would go with the maximum weight for bicycles on top of a roof rack on an Octavia which is 75kgs.
  16. It all depends on the engine. Is your car a TDI 150 or 190 (as they have different towing weights). Also as you have an aftermarket towbar (WestFalia), if you own a TDI150, it might not have had the larger radiator put onto the car (which is officially needed). Typically 1300kgs to 1500kgs is acceptable towing weight. I think the DSG gearboxes are stronger and can pull more weight....lower figure for manuals.
  17. Depending on the age of the Octy VRS, then yes, servicing will need to be done.
  18. One thing of note is that the glow plugs will need to be replaced. 130,000kms is about right for this to happen. If you are experiencing issues and you put it down to glow plugs then it is time to change them.
  19. Fantastic...sorry....my bandwidth isn't good so didn't see the video but if the fronts are slipping then rears should definitely kick in.
  20. Yes, because loads of people were getting pump failures and getting them replaced under warranty. 3years/30k miles seems a reasonable compromise though. Still recommend 20k based on my Scout and 1.5 years of motoring. My Skoda dealer were extremely surprised how dirty it was.
  21. The HALDEX 5 system is a good system as long as the fluid and filter in the transfer box is changed every 20k miles (and not 40k as recommended). Basically a lot of time the HALDEX system fails due to the pump trying to overcome the pressure of the fluid and failing due to a dirty filter. Now what happens is that when this occurs, it *does not* throw a code (ask me how I know - see my posting on this when I owned my 2019 Scout). So...you are left with no engagement on the 4 wheel drive system. It cost about £160 to get it done every 20k. What they don't tell you is *how* to engage the HALDEX 5 box. You have to loose traction on the front wheels for the system to engage. The garage is right when they say it is not a permanent 4x4 system.
  22. It's a known issue. 12V battery pack into the lighter socket. Open central locking, open passenger door , proceed as normal
  23. My thoughts are that maybe you have a sticking caliper that is potentially causing issues. Octavia and Golfs are notorious for binding brakes.
