  1. So I have decided to take the plunge and book in for the REVO DSG stage 1 TCU remap. With the Black Friday offer it will be £360. ive always found on both the vRS and the Golf R the DSG software leaves much to be desired. constantly chasing the highest gear for economy, meaning that most of the time it’s: 1,200rpm..... accelerating - no power 1,300rpm..... accelerating - no power 1,400rpm..... accelerating - no power 1,500rpm.... accelerating - power beginning to build 1,600rpm..... accelerating - power beginning to build more 1,700rpm.... accelerating - boost really coming on 1,800rpm.... torque about to be delivered*********** Gear change, back to 1,200 rpm 1,200rpm..... no power I know manual mode can be used, but the annoying thing is that at 8mph it auto down changes from 2nd to 1st. Not great for a mix of slower then quicker driving. its booked in for 1 week Saturday so will keep you updated. should compliment the stage 1 Engine nicely :-)
  2. Mines the same - it’s a little annoying I agree
  3. Once it has been checked for fitment then it’s probably the syncro rings (spring clip that sits on them) inside the gearbox.
  4. I did try to contact autodefence by both phone and email - no response to either. Boss box is the same price though £399 but if you go to them. you can just sit in the cafe attached to the front whilst you wait.
  5. You just need to find an installer, I think they are located up and down the country. i had mine installed a bass box audio in Birmingham, they were really good
  6. I have one of these fitted, works with KESSY also. They can still open the car - however they can have whatever signal they like but until the correct button sequence is pressed, the cars not going anywhere. https://www.autowatch.co.uk/products/security-solutions/autowatch-immobiliser-systems/68-ghost-product the only way is force you to enter the password, find the ghost in the loom (that’s not going to be quick), or lift the car.
  7. If your happy to break the warranty then go for a remap. Tuning boxes can produce great results but they will never be as good as a good map. Tuning boxes have only become popular because of in-warranty tuning. Ive had both tuning boxes and remaps (even on the same car), and overall taking into top end power, mid range, low end torque, my opinion is: Tuning box = good Remap = great Diesel do respond better to the boxes than the petrols
  8. One option could be to visit someone with a VCDS cable, it will be an easy problem to sort out. The reason only 1 light is working each side is that OBD11 has made the changes as if it was a non-vRS model. The AFS error probably just needs a basic setting doing although OBD11 shouldn't have changed the settings in the first place. Basic settings are required after even minor changes to the AFS settings (like disabling city mode)
  9. Unfortunately you can't do that with bi-xenons but you can with halogen headlights. If you have bi-xenons then read this thread If you have halogens, then just take the live from the wire to the main beam headlight and feed it to a relay to operate your LED light bar.
  10. When you apply coding or apply adaptations they is a little tick box with “soft reset” in it. Click that before continuing. with KESSY I’m not sure I’ve not done one, you might be best just getting out and locking the car when I have written ignition off. and @sherr03 gald it worked!!
  11. For anyone who did this HBA mod and got an error I did the same on @sherr03car and we got the same error - no matter what we did!!! “Fault light assist” finally I got it to work by doing the following (in this exact order) Lights in the off position 1) A5 module - code this first 2) exit with a soft reset 3) ignition off - key out 4) ignition on 5) 09 module - coding first 6) then enter security code 31347 7) set the adaptation channel to activate the menu 8) exit with a soft reset 9) ignition off - key out 10) ignition on, go to car menu on infotainment. Switch on light assist NO ERRORS :-) @andyvee could add this to the how to section please? @simonsheil and @AshGSmith try this thanks
  12. I’ve coded on the golf - I’ll try it over next week and report back. i have seen this mod posted before but never tried it. here’s hoping :-)
  13. Looks like @PetrolDave is in Southampton
  14. Tried it on my golf R and it makes a difference - much more planted and neutral (FWD or RWD) under hard cornering
  15. Wouldn’t you be better setting your fog lights as ADDITIONAL daytime running lights? that way they are always on full brightness in the day and when you switch the lights on they all dim / go out respectively? on a side note I have tried something similar before and what bugged me was the colour difference - you will never get them to match 100%. Also be aware that your aftermarket LED Fog light bulbs will most likely not last long term if you have them as DRL at full brightness - they don’t have adequate heat sinks. The heat will slowly kill the LED’s.
  16. Yep - this is almost 100% true
  17. I don't know but I think those switched are NON latching, so whilst pressed the make a connection but once released the break connection. The BCM doesn't care as it simply watches for a voltage pulse and does its thing but for you - you need to design a latching relay circuit.
  18. The other option is find a garage with a J2534 flash device, they will flash the ECU not using your file but directly connected to the VAG server (like the dealer would do).
  19. Or a superb DSG? Having gone from an Octavia to a golf you really notice the difference in space (both rear passengers and the boot). if only they did a TSI vRS 4x4 Octavia with EPB......
  20. To the OP, in a DSG it will bring you to a complete stop and then immediately ask you to put your foot on the brake thus disabling the cruise control. you can play chicken with it and it will give 1-2 seconds so if the car moves off the ACC will continue to work. Really it’s rubbish in that scenario, one of the reasons I moved to a Golf. If you do out your foot on the brake you then need to re-engage it as you move off. the golf will bring you to a stop and hold it there until your ready without driver intervention. A press of “resume” or a gentle tap of the accel pedal will allow the car to move again will the ACC still fully engaged. it is basically the EPB which allows autohold to be coded, this is what holds the car. The Octavia ABS module is most likely capable of autohold but without an EPB it cannot be coded. It’s either EPB+AUTOHOLD or HILL HOLD or NOTHING You need the first for ACC to work as you want
  21. I cant really answer that, only on the golf forums people with GTI PP were set to standard not increased traction. someone mentioned that their cupra 290 was set to increased traction I think
  22. It should be as it’s the same Haldex system as the R. go to module 22 AWD instead and make the mod. i will be trying it this weekend on the Golf. I’m not sure but the Cupra may be set to increased traction as standard, but check with VCDS.
  23. Hi all not sure if anyone has seen it yet but it looks like it’s possible to turn up the performance of the VAQ diff fitted to the Octavia. under the adaptations there is an option to set it to increased traction, apparently the guys on the GTI forums have noticed a significant difference with this mod on the grip and performance. i haven’t been able to test it yet but apparently it also may work the same on my R for the rear Haldex diff. From the factory it is set to standard credit goes to the GOLF GTI forum, the DRIVE TRIBE forum and the Audizine forum.
