Kodiaq 2.0 dsg 4x4 diesel 2017
For info only Skoda UK recommend a belt change on the 1.4 tsi... Skoda other countries don't, they only suggest belt inspections. And neither do the other parts of the VAG empire that use the same engine. Also, when the engine was launched there was a lot of press 'noise' and launch pack info about the long life belt and ovalised cam pulleys to reduce strain on the belt. Personally I won't be changing my belt for a long time yet but that's an individual choice based on research and personal experience over many cars run for high mileages and many years.

Tipping point?
Just on the subject of street light / lamppost charging... many street lights are now 'low voltage' and only have 24v or 48v supplies via lower rated cables, rather than the old school 415v three phase ones. I have no idea but I'd be interested to know if 24v / 48v at a low power rating is sufficient to tap into to charge an EV?

Scout brake light bulb job cost?
£5 seems more reasonable and is probably what the likes of Halfords would have charged. I recall I was once charged for changing a bulb to pass an MOT but when I challenged the garage and noted all were working when I dropped it off they removed that element from the invoice.

Starter Keeps Running aften Engine start
That's exactly as it should be and how it's supposed to work on old cars!!! As @J.R. suggests - hold the key in the start position until it fires then let go so it can spring back to 'on' and your no longer feeding power to the starter.

Scout brake light bulb job cost?
That's extortionate! In the past I've had garages replace what is actually a 50p bulb for free. She's been taken for a ride there and I'd be complaining like hell over that - especially if the work wasn't agreed in advance.

Air vent tabs
Might be worth dropping the pollen filter out to see if the bit that is missing has fallen down the air duct and got trapped there?

Volvo EX 30 - Quicker, relatively cheap, proper EV styling without nod to ICE car looks
Except Nokia still exist as a Finnish company designing, making and selling phones... so a bad comparison there I'm afraid! (for info Nokia was sold to Microsoft but when Microsoft sold their mobile business the Finish HMD Global bought it back as Nokia) Blackberry also still exist but not as a handset manufacturer - they now sell IT security solutions... so another bad comparison there too.

Some astrophotography shots
The spotting scope works OK for some stuff and is good for the moon but is difficult to line up well even before zooming in and on the one I have the mount between tripod and scope isn't stable enough. I can probably fix the latter with some fettling to tighten it up but the alignment issue would then remain., so I'm thinking something purpose made would be much better.

Some astrophotography shots
Interested here too as my eldest is just finishing her first year of physics with astrophysics at Lancaster Uni... And my spotting scope doesn't cut the mustard

Water in boot
Some possible thoughts from experience... Rear wash wipe pipe Rearlight seald Rear wiper grommet In my case on our kodiaq it was the wiper grommet that water was getting past. That took a while to find.

Slick 50 oil additive
I remember using it on a 1982 1.3 Vauxhall Chevette in the late 80's and, at the time, was convinced it helped... Pretty certain I woudn't use it on a modern engine though!

5G Download Speeds - What Can you Get?
That's not just an issue in rural areas my mum's house in Sheffield, despite being in a decent, well populated residential area with generally good coverage is on Vodafone and can only get 3G at home as she's in some wierd coverage 'hole'.

What's this?
There should be a cover but nothing inside... Its just an empty chamber that helps airflow.

Kodiaq cam belt replacement: required or advisory?
So what does that tell you? That the same engine made in the same factory but sold elsewhere doesn't need a change at 5 years... And that Skoda UK are taking UK owners for a ride by telling them something is needed that isn't? Thats what it tells me. Even their own workshop manual says it isn't needed. And yes George is right that other associated parts could fail. That's a risk but the workshop manual would then have that noted wouldn't it... Just like it has time and mileage limits for other parts.

Transmission oil change
@Alie there are three things that contain oil... Front six speed gearbox, rear haldex coupling and also rear differential. What exactly are you trying to drain and refill?
-
Transmission oil change
And also not suitable for the rear differential which is separate to the haldex coupling?

Kodiaq cam belt replacement: required or advisory?
Dealer B is correct in relation to the official workshop manual... the 1.4TSi engine has no mileage or time limit shown and is 'supposed' to be a 'lifetime' belt. Dealer A is quoting the 'recommendation' that Skoda UK apply in the UK but goes against the official workshop manual and advice for the rest of the world. The above info posted by Yogi appears incorrect anyway as the water pump is not driven by the timing belt but by an auxilliary belt on the other side of the engine. Now make of that what you will - it will be your vehicle and your choice. Many on here will tell you to replace it as a precaution against failure of it and the tensioner but Skoda don't seem to think it is necessary and neither do VW or Audi in other countries.

Huge jump in premium!
Potentially also an issue with 'false' medical claims associated with accidents and inflated hire car costs (compared to the rates we get through work)? I'm sure these medical stuff is checked but it was amazing how many times I was asked if I was sure no one was injured and I didn't have whiplash when I was rear-ended a couple of years back... I can imagine some people would respond 'yes I've got a slightly stiff neck' and off it spirals... Then again maybe I'm just very cynical...

Huge jump in premium!
So in light of the increase - what do insurance companies do about keeping repair costs down, not using inflated parts and labour figures? Typical example from a while back - a small bump on a wing requiring a new wing and paint. Repair quotes to go through insurance varying from £800 to nearly £1,200; repair quote with no mention of potentially going through insurance £270. The former quotes included various 'items' that were not actually needed and vastly inflated parts and labour costs. This is not uncommon in my and other's experience. Now I'm not saying ChrisKnott do not try to keep costs down but, as an industry the general it seems it's not a priority, when it should be.

Tyre Problem Goodyear
You say that but on every single thread about wheels or tyres (and even some suspension threads) you go on about putting smaller diameter wheels on, regardless of what is actually being asked - it seems a bit of an obsession of yours...

Help please
Nope there should be nothing in there. But the cover should be lipped back on.
