  1. New Faraday bags arrived last week and all working fine again... Car can't be unlocked with the key inside even when stood next to the car
  2. Oh indeed - I wasn't suggesting in the slightest that they could be extracted or circulate them - I was really just thinking out loud about whether the data sets we have access to actually contain the various tables, as I'm interested in understanding how the technology / system works... I'm guessing it has a node / link system that represents the network and the data s transmitted in such a way that individual links can be identified alongside live speed data on those links. The headunit must then use that updated data for the links concerned in the routing algorithms??
  3. Just thinking about this - we use Inrix and Trafficmaster data at work - not the live stuff but routing and speed data for traffic models. I'm starting to wonder if the data we have access to might have the map tables in it etc.
  4. Pictures not displaying?
  5. I wonder if this affects more than just the Superb as I'd expect the parts to be common ones... I'd hate to have my Kodiaq boot lid fall on me due to a broken stud!!!
  6. Might be interested in the headrest tablet holder assuming it's universal and will fit a Kodiaq? Let me know re postage costs and I'll weigh it up.
  7. Indeed - but it's a high probability... and given the low cost of a new fan resistor is, in my opinion, potentially the cheapest option and worth a shot before doing anything else. As I said - my opinion and high probability... but it's the OP's choice.
  8. Lets be honest here - that chances are this is simply the fan resistor pack that has burnt out - first speed 1 goes, then 2, then 3 leaving you with just 4. It's a common, known, failure point. I'm pretty mechanically minded so I'd fit one myself on a 10 year old car (in fact I did on our Fabia Mk 1) and see if that fixed it - or if I wasn't I'd be asking a small local garage, or a mate who is, to fit one for me for a few quid.
  9. But then is info in the side panel under his name says 1.5Tsi... So we'll need to wait for confirmation but I'm guessing TSi...
  10. Eh up... From another sheffielder
  11. Panorama Maker is what ive uswd previously. The older versions were free from memory if you can find a download
  12. Nice. Camera people tend to fall into two main categories... Canon people and Nikon people. Im in the Nikon camp and have been since about 1987
  13. Just as a little aside to this thread... I have a 1995 MX5 and last had the cambelt replaced on that car in 2004 - that's 19 years ago. It's still fine despite being given a pretty hard life. I'm not too concerned about it failing as it's a non-interference engine so it'll get left until it does fail. I know it's not comparable to the new VW engines but it does give you an idea of the durability of belts. Personally I think there is more risk in changing a belt than leaving it given modern belt durability (and I know mine is a 1.4TSi but it has similar information in it's workshop manual to the 1.5TSi - ie an inspection / potential change based on mileage only)
  14. Don't know why not... I am!!!
  15. That really is one hell of a man cave...
  16. For us it depends on which road on the estate you look at - there's one road in particular that has some very upmarket new cars on it (we're talking Mclaren, Ferrari, Porsche, Range Rovers, Mercedes G and numerous high end Audi / BMW's that I see coming out from it) where the average age is probably less than three years (there's a few residents that seem to change cars every few months!). Then there are others where it's probably closer to 8 years with a few older 55 plates or similar thrown in. And then there are the outliers - like my 28 year old MX5, a neighbours 60's Jag, a 70s Scimitar and a 70s Land Rover Forward Control. Nip half a mile or so up the road and you're into a whole different kettle of fish though, as you're into an area with more socio economic issues and a much older car population.
  17. The plate is usually on the base of the b pillar in the drivers door jamb.
  18. Wrong... It's illegal to hold and use a phone, sat nav, tablet, or any device that can send or receive data, while driving or riding a motorcycle. This means you must not use a device in your hand for any reason, whether online or offline. For example, you must not text, make calls, take photos or videos, or browse the web. That is not the same as being illegal to touch a phone... If the phone is in a holder and not ha d held then it is legal, although you can still be prosecuted for driving without due care and attention if appropriate.
  19. Pretty sure the above is right but its Gen2. Still has a filter though
  20. It probably does... The drive is away from the house and the keys are in the pouch in a small drawer in the middle of the house... But for the sake of a few quid for a new one...
  21. Good point... I'll check again later as I had just been in the pouch so may not have closed it properly
  22. I got the car in May 2018 and the bag shortly after. Just checked it again now and you're right it does seem like it's finally giving up... Its fine from a couple of yards off but not stood right next to the car any more although it was OK a few months ago. Looks like I'll be investing again... Thanks for the reminder to check!
  23. My Swift has kessy and I use a Faraday bag. It's a few years old but still works perfectly as the car won't open with the key in the bag even when stood next to the car door.
  24. Same here... Button replaced when we bought ours. Looks to be easy enough DIY though
  25. If its ringing and a call isn't connected it answers... If a call is connected it ends it. It's not rocket science. If you don't believe it sit in the car and get someone to call you to try it.
