the truth about electric cars
So once again you use your own well off leafy suburb position as reflective of the rest of the UK... It isn't! The split between those with off road parking and those without nationally is 60:40 but in many places is the other way round or worse. As for things like lamppost charging that is only possible where street lights are on a three phase supply. Many now are on a low voltage 24 supply for low wattage led lighting heads and that supply won't do EV charging.

the truth about electric cars
Just as an example EV manufacturers with over the air updates could easily do an 'Apple' and restric power an battery performance. Just saying....

the truth about electric cars
Just a quick comment on this - yes some people are MASSIVELY out of touch with how a large number of people in this country live and survive from day to day and have very little in the way of a safety net or savings! Just look at numbers of people in the various bands in IMD mapping. Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) | CDRC Data The English Indices of Deprivation 2019 (publishing.service.gov.uk) Also - Octopus Salary Sacrifice... a Tesla Model 3 is FROM £691 PER MONTH with an upfront payment of £6.2k on a personal plan. and from £632 for business users. That equates to £7.5k to £8.3k per year just for a car. Even their cheapest deal is from £331 a month for an Ora Funky Cat with an upfront payment of £3k. Those numbers are simply not affordable for many many people!

the truth about electric cars
Likewise in relation to PMs wood burners... apparently the UKs domestic wood burners emit more PM10s and PM2.5s than road traffic: Guidance for wood burning in London | London City Hall Emissions of air pollutants in the UK – Particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) Makes you think...

My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
Interesting comment re the F1s... I've had them before and didn't rate them either but others seem to swear by them.

fault cant turn off with key lights on on dash
My guess would be a dodgy fuel shut off solenoid or anti shudder valve but as above it would be best to get a scan before anything else

Any coders that could lend a hand?
If you have no joy an Automatic Traffic Counter speed survey using pneumatic tubes should be about £150 for a weeks worth of data from any one of many traffic survey companies and will pick up every vehie in that period. It'll be data that an LA will accept as fact too, unlike a DIY set up. A hand held radar gun is about £250 to buy but can be tricky to use accurately.

From memory some of the moll batteries were subject to a recall for failing early... Might be worth checking with a dealer if yours is

Preserving the coiled rubber outer cable on my Nikon SC-29 ttl unit
Interesting - I have one of those for an old Nikon F301 - think it's an SC-17 off camera TTL flash lead and it's not gone like that at all (it's an OE one but the cord is grey). If it were me I'd be tempted to unscrew the four screws shown in the picture and see what's inside / how many cable strands there are so I could replace the cable entirely. It 'should' be a pretty straightforward job TBH. Also, for reference there seem to be a few on e-bay at the moment?

Vauxhall Corsa electric 2020 Fault (maybe faults) in first 6 weeks & various over the next 3 years.
Yeah - understood - I just think a lighter colour so you can actually see the wheels and see the contrast with the tyres looks better - so a metallic grey or dark silver would (IMHO) be better - but that's just my personal view.

Vauxhall Corsa electric 2020 Fault (maybe faults) in first 6 weeks & various over the next 3 years.
Looks good and should be even better in the higher spec - but, personally, I still don't like black wheels... they just look unfinished to me...

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
Two Jazz in our family - both owned by ladies in their 80's... one a bright yellow top spec 1.2 EX auto (because 'why not?' - it replaced a breadvan Civic auto) - and the other a grey 1.2 SE manual (it replaced a Civic Tourer). They are both fine and well screwed together but a little gutless and (IMHO) have quite complicated infotainment and controls. Both owners love them though...

280 Tyres
In a word yes. They remain very quiet stable and grippy and after just over 10k miles don't seem to be showing too much wear. For reference I've also got Falken Zeix 310 Ecorun on the Swift and they have also proven good, and to me, are a much better tyre that the Bridgestone Ecopia that were fitted from new. I used to be a Vredestein or Michelin Cross Climate person but am very happy with the Falkens and would have them again, albeit with research first and the fact that I may go all season on the Kodiaq next time due to where we live.

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
Just thought I'd post something slightly interesting and potentially connected... I've had no TMC for what seems like a few months in the Swift but last week the messages suddenly reappeared and I did nothing to the head unit. I'm not complaining as they are working and showing in the sat nav but just made me wonder if it was connected in some way to the issues here.

Headlight removal
Just check the other side and compare. I have. Feeling there is a slight gap on ours between bumper and fog light on both sides as I thought it strange at first but other I've looked at are the same. As you say perhaps it's the bimler that has moved or come off one of its fixings rather than the light (we had that on our Fabia ages ago but you could see Shere the bimler had moved on its fixings. Lossening a few screws etc. and pushing it back into place soon sorted it.

the truth about electric cars
Yeah - I'm not a fan of that spiral entry lane though - it's a bit tight in a Kodiaq but OK in the Swift. I get the Apcoa which is somewhat rough and ready for £6.50 a day.
