Daft question byt have you looked at the new suzuki scross?
  2. Yep that's how they all let go eventually... Our fabia did the same just before a long motorway trip so it was 'fixed' by a piece of timber for a few months. The eBay replacements were fine though.
  3. Had this on the MILs Jazz. A quick rub and a few taps with a finger and it was working again so i can only assume it had got a bit 'stuck' over time. Got to be worth a try??
  4. Not as a 4x4 though - they are all DSG... so that rules those out as well as we need the 4x4 element. Ah well - I guess they call it 'progress'...
  5. I have a T55 and have used it pretty extensively on older Skodas and other cars. It's a bit clunky and worked well with our 2001 Mk1 Fabia and 2007 Mk2 Octavia but doesn't want to work with the 2018 Kodiaq we now have... presumably because systems have moved on. I spoke to Gendan about this as the T55 comes with a USB update cable and I'd hoped to get it to work but they said they had no updates for it. I did find one from the manufacturer some time ago though but haven't yet bothered to try it as recently I've used Carista or similar for the Kodiaq.
  6. Really???... That rules another Kodiaq out for me in the future then as we need manuals (SWMBO simply couldn't get on with the DSG when we were looking a couple of years ago). Shame as the rest of the car suits us well.
  7. Aha - good choice that man!!! Of the few on Autotrader that was the one that stood out for me as the pick of the bunch -hope you like it!
  8. Tell you what... Those quattroporte are cheaper than I thought. Just looked on auto trader and there's a nice low mileage one in Dundee in that dark metallic blue... Makes you think... But then it probably wouldn't be as good as the Kodiaq at lugging wheelchairs and crap around...
  9. Great looking car... Just hope it's reliable...
  10. Where was each firestick purchased? Could they be regional, a bit like dvds, and both be 'uk' versions hence the block regardless of account?
  11. Just checking to see if anyone has had issues with the USB socket in the centre console? Has been fine recently but today it decided it wouldn't connect to my wife's phone via Android Auto. Charging is on and off as well and having now tried multiple cables and different phones it seems to be the socket. I've had a go at tightening it up but has anyone had to replace one? Presumably the body section of the workshop manual will include instructions for doing so... Cheers
  12. You could do it the easy way via the Carista app...
  13. Likewise on our Kodiaq... It helps and isn't a hardship to correct every now and then
  14. Which 2.0 tdi are you after comparing with? 2.0 8v pd? 2.0 16v pd? 2.0 16v cr?
  15. That's a result then... Sounds like they forgot to change the cameras to reflect the changes in restrictions
  16. Challenge the NIP then and ask for furthe evidence and clarification.
  17. Often the cameras are located just outside the speed restricted area not within so that could explain the pictures. In addition the restrictions usually extend some way past the lane closures and well into the normal lane arrangements so are you sure that is not the case? However each picture should have the camera reference on it which should show which camera was used for the calc. And you should be able to ask for a cross check of those against the Not in use ones
  18. Yep dpf off and mapped to 185bhp. No other changes.
  19. Torque limit is 500nm if I recall correctly. Fuel economy was pretty much unchanged on my dpf off stage 1 2.0pd but then that depends on how much you use the extra. No issues with reliability other than it bursting the flexible turbo to intercooler bend every 7 years I didn't bother with any other mods
  20. oops - looks like new spring / exhaust needed and a bit of adjustment on the handbrake cable to take up some slack? Not ideal but could've been much worse!
  21. As I said... Not really relevant and is a comment like many others on here about completely different engines but does show belt failure is unlikely.
  22. For reference the cambelt on my Fabia TDI did over 80k in 5 years and was like new. The car then went on to do 130k with us over 12 years and totalled 186k with a subsequent owner and the belt didn't fail. The cambelt on our Octavia TDI did 6 years and about 60k and was like new when replaced. The second one then lasted to 100k and 13 years and didn't fail. When sold neither buyer asked about it. Not really relevant given a different engine but shows failure is unlikely. At the end of the day it's the owners choice but the costs being quoted for something that the official workshop manual says isn't needed are daft and probably equate to throwing money away. Sure the belt could fail but the risks are very low. And if you take it to a main dealer don't in any way kid yourself your getting a better more reliable service. In my experience of some the exact opposite is the case.... Hence the greater risk associated with having it done than not
  23. The key message there is decades ago the cambelt failed on a vauxhall. That's like me saying Ive had a mk 1 mx5 for nearly 25 years and can't remember ever changing the cambelt (maybe once donkeys years ago). It's never failed. It's a totally irrelevant statement in relation to modern engines from a different manufacturer. To me given the complexity of the job and the workshop manual requiring no replacement there is more risk involved doing the job and getting it wrong than there is not doing it.
  24. Snapped off? Worth trying to botch something?
  25. But according to the official workshop manual it isn't - there is no periodic requirement to replace it...
