Has anyone had a white band appear along the very bottom of the windscreen since fitting the springs. Took mine to garage to check correct fitment of strut tops for it to come back with this white band the plastic trim isn't fitting correctly in the corners (plastic that hid es the top of strut mount bolts and window wipers sit on) and 2 chips out of 1wheel. :-(

Has any one got a white cloud effect about 3mm thick along bottom of windscreen just where it meets the plastic panel since doing the frt spring?

Hi folks. Just fitted a set of eibachs today. Is there a right and wrong way to fit the springs and is there a way of telling what is the front or back on the strut top mount

yeah Alice i was told the same as you,cant get terms for 5 years, can't get the deal over 3 on the new octavia. All they mean by this is you dont get the £500 towards the deposit that Skoda are offering. have a shop around try comparison websites for car fianance or loans and you will find that you can get better fianance deals if you arrange your own over 5 years. best i found being a Halifax customer was 6.2%apr on a personal car loan. I will agree with Jonno though, i too had a diesel after owning a modified mk1 vrs and only kept it just over a year. performance from petrol to me anyway is better and not that far behind the diesel on mpg( only around 10miles more from the diesel) and remember you pay 4- 5 pence a litre more for diesel. i guess what im saying is if your heart is set on an octavia vrs test drive both before deciding. get your husband to get his head out the clouds and join the crowd, 5 vrs cars have been sold to friends and family off the back of me having one once they had a drive in mine they were sold too.

Why are some shoppers so bloody careless? Parked my Blackmagic FL vrs in the farthest and empty corner of the local shopping market for what must have been a hour max. Only to find a S-Max people carrier parked next to it when i came back out and most annoyingly a scuff along both doors and half of the rear quarter obviously a coat zip or bag has caused this. Only had the car for 2 weeks

No this is normal. Brighter through daylight for obvious vision realated reasons and dimmer at night because lights are easier seen in the dark, hope this helps

Hi folks, im new to mk2 octavia mods so bare with me. I too think i need to lower the car a tad as it does sit quite high on the standard springs.What are the best springs to fit Eiback,FK or H&R? I had coil overs on the mk1 but felt these were a bit harsh for the bairn and dog. Also there is a lot of talk about spacers on the forums i take it they are just to make the wheel to wheel arch relation more pleasing to the eyes. Has anyone had problems since fitting spacers as experience of wheel spacers i have had on cars i had years ago were wheel bearings ,road vibration coming through into the car and the anoying issue of the car wanting to track along any imperfection in road surfaces?

My 57 plate tdi had same problem. Cost under£300 to repair. Had to take return pipe off header tank a couple of times and run it with fairy liquid in bottle and just keep topping up to get it totally oil free

whats with the wheel spacers, take it you want a wider stance or is it advised with lowered springs?

i have a pd octavia vrs ans was thinking of a remap.abit confused though should i remove the pdf before the remap or leave it in situ. or just forget about the remap, as the tame technician recons pd,s not good on remaps

hi all been a while since i been on, but after selling the 1.8t 220bhp kw variant 3 getting a max of 34mpg. I to have decided to go down the line of a suposedly more economically pd diesel. after initial driving style changes i now get 43mpg is this the norm?Anyway i too have the feeling of drastically labouring the car if the revs drop to around the 1500rpm and then try to accelerate away, again this happens in all gears if the revs drop too low. being a more torquey diesel i didn,t think this would become an issue but clearly it is a problem with the pd engines. are the cars geared to high or is it an engine problem and can it be sorted? should have stuck to petrol engines me,s think.

i have the kw variant 1's on my 03 vrs, the handling is much tighter but i have to say a lot harsher especially on these tight and undulating scottish back roads. i also have the upgraded bushes well worth the investment if your gonna push the car hard, if not go for standard set, my post operative back wishes i had. lol

hi i have slight vibration and rumble on my 03 vrs, had new tyres and discs/pads fitted recently. car is also lowerwed about 30mm. problem feels like i m driving with m+s tyre on left hand side, also pulls slightly to the left under heavy acceleration and feels pretty scitterish on uneven B class roads when being pushed or under heavy braking. tried to get alignment checked but local garage says he will need the tolerances for the kw variant 1,as they will be different. anybody know what they will be?

yeah i spoke to jim at star performance who said i would gain another 8 -10 bhp by fitting one, not much of a gain for £500. might try the manual mod if you know what i mean

hi all fellow briskodians, i have recently had my octy mk1 vrs remapped, not to bad on the gains, but i was told by the nice chappy at star i would benfit from a fmic. has anybody got any advice they would like to give regarding the best place to buy if i decide to go that way, and is the diference in performance really justifyable for the cost of £500

hi again i contacted jabba to see what they were all about and they recommend Bedrock veedubs in Motherwell as they are jabba agents and use jabbas software. a little bit closer than having to travel down to Peterbourgh for us Scots anyway:thumbup:

hi mate thanks for the info. phoned star performance today but Jim is on holiday till next Tuesday, will have to wait and see what he says for prices. have a look at eBay there is a place called pendle performance doing remaps for £185 and he is saying he specializes in vw/audi engines. Where you from yourself if you went out wi a jap woman(selkirk lass)?
