  1. Master cylinder has been replaced but hasn't solved the problem so they're looking at the pipework. Surely that would have been the first thing to do? If new pipework doesn't fix it the gearbox will have to come out. :(
  2. Mine too CFGB 61 plate. (Maybe they are busy deleting it while it's in for its clutch repair!)
  3. Hi All, My beloved barge is in the garage having a master clutch cylinder replaced :'( Bit disappointed really as it has only done 38500ish miles. Anyway, bill will be ca. £380 - has anyone had similar and is that roughly the going rate? Cheers.
  4. Had a giggle at the Samsung / Jack Whitehall ad C'mon England!
  5. Ford Orion Ghia. With little black rubber spoiler and some aftermarket fogs. B reg. Loved it. GF at the time broke the driver's lumbar adjuster with her foot. Good times
  6. Manual 170 4x4 here. Three main reasons I bought a 4x4: 1 - used on muddy ground/farm tracks for work, has coped fine so far. 2 - Winter - it has been great in the winter with Nokians on, no problem in Derbyshire snow this year. 3 - handles great in damp/wet weather for a big car, very important as my wife isn't confident with cars other than her own! And of course the Superb has tons of room - I've used it to move beds, fridge freezers, even the old bath when we refitted the bathroom. Holidays are no longer a battle of what gets taken and what's left behind. Worth every penny for the removal of stress!
  7. There's definitely a thread on this topic lurking somewhere. Try a search.
  8. Good idea! I've actually kept the Banner in case I get similar symptoms (dashboard lights, clicking etc) with the Bosch, as that would very likely mean it's not a battery fault.
  9. In case it helps anyone, the first symptom of my battery dying was the mirrors refusing to reopen when the car was started.
  10. If it makes anyone feel better my 70Ah Banner battery has just died following the recent cold snap. I used to do 50+ miles to work and back each day, but am between jobs at the moment so only shortish journeys over the past fortnight. Bit disappointed it didn't last longer, as it is just 3 years old. Replacing it with a Bosch S5 096 77Ah which is the same dimensions as the Banner.
  11. Sorry, been really busy lately. Yes I did, thanks, and I'll be checking that next.
  12. Thanks Jake, I did have a play around with the air intake a couple of months ago, as per your posts, and it didn't seem to change much. I'm beginning to wonder if the exhaust does actually have a hole somewhere. When I picked the car up it was running just as badly as when I took it in, but the garage insist there's nothing wrong. I guess I now need to take it to an independent garage to get it checked out fully, which will cost me for something I think should be properly investigated by a Skoda dealer, even if I have to pay up front for that.
  13. Mine has just been to Garlands in Aldershot for investigation and they say they can't find any problems. I know I'm not making it up, too inconvenient for one, as I live 8 miles away from them. Not sure how to proceed now. I guess if it keeps doing it, I keep taking it back to them?
  14. If you have a header tank in the loft (for the radiator water), check if it's dry. I once had a house with knocking, turned out there was leak in the CH/radiator circuit, which led to the pump cavitating, producing the knock. It was like a loud thump / bang every now and again. Freaked me out at first too.
  15. I had this with my A4 a few years back when rear-ended on an M25 slip. Car was 3 months old and DIrect Line wanted me to take it to some nomark repairers. I told them no, it's going to Audi as it's practically new. The young lady that ran into the back of us (we were stationary in a queue of traffic behind an accident) didn't admit liability at the time, but did in the end (no choice really) and DL in the end were fine with my taking the car to Audi, but IIRC if I hadn't had legal cover as part of the policy it would have been more difficult.
  16. The decals look fun but I think for pure class if you could paint it the same as the car that would be spot on. I have a metallic black Kamei Corvara roofbox, bought for use with a flat black A4 (got rid of that to get the Superb), and while it looked good with the A4, I think it looks great with the Superb being black metallic too. I'd post some pics but the box is in the garage and the Superb is far from clean
  17. Really glad you got your car back in good nick. I wasn't so lucky back in '93 when my Ford Onion was nicked. Top guy, that shop bloke. And I hope the coppers catch the scumbags
  18. Can you get the Efficientgrips in 92Y? Can only find 92W so far. Am I worrying too much about the speed rating?! Ta!
  19. ^ Will give that a go. Noticed mine is quicker retracting in the warmer weather too.
  20. My honest first thought was Transformers. But Disney's more accurate! My kids would love it though.
  21. Yes, on the left (I've been to the Cotswold Outdoor you can just see in the photo several times). It is a pain because you can get caught stationary in the bus lane before you get into the parking if there's a hold-up. The parking's quite busy so it's not an uncommon situation. Just looked on Google maps and there was someone in the bus lane!:
  22. Might not be exactly the right thing but Drupal might work. https://drupal.org/
  23. Was 1.0 - 2.0 here in Surrey this morning. I definitely notice the better grip from the winters when it's cold and wet or even just that 'greasy' damp out. Would love some snow to have a go at though
  24. Dust then hoover. That's the law from SWMBO in our house. And makes sense. I actually try to hoover/swiffer up the dust, rather than just kick it up into the air of course.
