Vacuum Hoses and Crankcase Breather Pipe
Sharpyy replied to Nemesis201077's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
You can test the MAF sensor by just unplugging it, if it makes no difference then the MAF has gone. -
Fabia Lakeside meet this weekend or next?
Sharpyy replied to Burnzee's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I've added you mate, invite me to the event as I can't see it. -
X Control Relief relay position.
Sharpyy replied to Col_ossus's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Try this, 2006, it might help: 2006 Fabia Wiring Page 2, I think it may be position 18. Hope this helps. -
Doesn't mean he's changed it. I changed my gearbox oil at 115k miles and it looked like new, it'd just lost all it's properties as you'd expect over ten years.

Gearbox service and clutch bleed?
Sharpyy replied to Codroe23's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Change the oil in the gearbox, make sure you get OEM grade oil for it. Clutch bleed is a bit of a deep subject, have a detailed search on here. -
1. Best to use either ECP (not the greatest site and it's 50/50 in my experience of getting the correct pads & discs) 2. See how bad the discs are when you take them off, if they have deep 'lip' around the outside of the disc I'd look at changing them but that comes down to your own judgement. 3. See answer 2, best to check by eye if the pads are getting low or the discs/brake drums have worn excessively (brake drum removal is necessary to assess wear) 4. Off the top of my head you will need wheel removal tools (17mm fitment), 2 x flat head screwdrivers to push back piston (use at your own risk), 6 or 7mm allan key tool to release caliper. A spanner ((unsure on size (possibly 15mm)) will be needed to remove carrier if you're changing discs as well. Copper slip or other heat resistant grease is best as it stops brakes going dry and/or squeaking. 5. It would be easier but that's another job entirely to be honest, one job at a time would be best. 6. Use the search tool, I remember Tech1e did a guide on fitting 312mm brakes so that would be a good guide. 7. Penetrative spray on each one of the bolts will undo them but they generally aren't too bad to undo. Be careful not to round off the allan key bolts that hold the caliper on. To be honest, brakes are a key safety feature to your car and it's important they are done right. If you're not 100% confident doing them yourself find someone to do it for you. I hope this helps, Sharpyy

Subtle mods go a long way. Cupra splitter, lowering, a good detail/freshen up can add up to a big difference.

That look great Tom, are they direct fit or are they on adapters?

0-60 on this is 6.7 secs according to Parkers, Fabia vRS is 9.2 secs so I reckon it wouldn't be close but a remapped Fabia may be a different story. It does have nearly 80bhp more but not as much torque!

Help! My Skoda is slowly dying on me.....
Sharpyy replied to jd72's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Easy to follow, yes... Easy to get to, certainly not! It's a right PITA. -

TT comps colour suggestion for Silver Fabia?
Sharpyy replied to devonutopia's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Silver, Mirror or Anthracite... Personally, i'm not a fan of black wheels on a silver car. -

Fabia I 1.2 sloppy gear change - problem or not?
Sharpyy replied to bornfree's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
You may be able to see where the play is coming from, either the gear linkage on the gearbox or, like mine, there's play in the mechanism beneath the gear stick. Either way not a massively expensive fix and the fact you said it goes into gear smoothly shows that it's not the gearbox -
+1 for gearbox oil as it's the cheaper option of two. Check if you have 'clutch drag' as the clutch plate may not be fully disengaging when the clutch pedal is fully down. Try giving the clutch pedal a few pumps before putting it into first and see it this makes a difference, that could mean it may need bleeding. Definitely try changing the gearbox oil first though. Good luck.

I think that you should fit both spacers if they're supplied, especially if there's a gap as stated. If there's a gap, you may get movement side to side which defeats the object of stiffening the rear bushes. I'm yet to fit mine so unfortunately I don't have any pictures of a Vrs rear beam, but it should look something like below on a MK4 Golf, nice tight, flush fit. I hope this helps.

Something isn't quite right after a new turbo
Sharpyy replied to krisr32's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Have you had a look at the timing on VCDS? I set mine back to 0 and now it starts a lot better than before. -
That's exactly what it is, I run a cable from the HDMI of the head unit to an MHL adapter to charge my phone. It can be done wire free, as said above, so that would suggest it's bluetooth. I'm not sure of the difference, plenty of threads in the audio forums for them though. You can pick up a second hand Appradio 2 for less than £200 and you get hands free along with a gps receiver too. It's a bargain for what they can do but people are reluctant to get too technical with them, having your phone apps legally on your head unit is very convenient.
-
I have the Appradio 2 but I've used ARLiberator to use all the functions of my HTC ONE on the head unit. Google it, it's a bit complicated to set up as you have to root your phone but it works great in the car and any app on your phone will run on the head unit screen.

I'm looking forward to seeing the finished article! Have you got any plans for the interior or is it all staying OEM?

WHY IS HE SHOUTING!?
-
From what I could see, there was not a lot left in it, but as said above it all adds up. There was absolutely nothing in the back except bare metal, racing seats in the front and the seat harnesses were bolted to the floor above the fuel tank. He had superturismos with coilovers, a lighter battery, all the electrics in the doors must weigh a bit too. I didn't disbelieve he had taken out 400kg, just by the state of it. He loved it, recommended I should follow suit... Imagine going to work in the middle of winter with no heating, you'd be deaf along with having frost bite but at least you'd be at work in 5 minutes.

Sharpyy replied to Burnzee's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
What day and time are you thinking of? I'll see if I can come down.. -
It's his daily driver too, road noise must be unbearable with no sound proofing. No rear seats, no carpet, no door cards, battery was relocated to behind the passenger seat. It had no grip and spun the wheels in 3rd. It's good fun until it rains and water comes through the sliding hatch on the drivers side perspex window. I'm still not sure if it's balls or stupidity.
