  1. thanks, I'll have to check them too then It smelt a little diesely but mostly just smelt of hot oil at the time
  2. Ok thanks mate, I've already started cleaning all the pipework out. They were absolutely full of oil in fact there was more sat in the pipes than there was left in the engine, I've got an old turbo so Ill see if I can get it back together and might stick that on and see how it goes. do you have any idea why the engine oil would now be very transparent and runny?
  3. That's a bit of a relief to hear. Tomorrow I'm going to drop the sump to get rid of any remaining turbo fragments. What should I look for on the bottom end while I'm there? If anything Thanks for all your advice It's greatly appreciated
  4. The turbo is off along with all the pipework etc. I blocked off oil feed for turbo and started it (after I topped up with oil) and it makes a hell of a racket/knocking and pumps out loads of blue smoke. Plus when it happened I looked under the bonnet and the engine had forced oil out from round the filler cap and out the breather pipe. however I'm not sure what this means or if it's normal when a turbo goes? I'm reluctant to take the head off simply because I've never done it before
  5. So my turbo blew this morning (just 3 days before my new one from xman is arriving). I was hoping the turbo was the only problem but looks like it has damaged the engine too :( the oil looks very clear (fuel contamination?) and when started (turbo off) it clatters and throws loads of blue smoke out so I think it's had it. so I'm after a replacement 130 ASZ engine if anyone has one or knows of one please let me know, I'm in King's Lynn, Norfolk so one local would be perfect but I know it's a long shot Thanks Ryan
  6. No worries mate, it's good to double check it anyway just to make sure
  7. The tortion value should be as close to 0.0 as you can get but anything between 3 and -3 is considered acceptable. However the lag and then big lump of power paired with a puff of black smoke definitely points more towards overboost (sticking veins)
  8. A couple of good useful links for anyone suffering from the same issues. I don't know why its not more common knowledge as lots of people suffer from this at some point
  9. I used a proper turbo cleaner (can't remember the name of it) but others have used Mr muscle with good results I think
  10. Assuming this is a VRS it's most likely a build up of crud in the VNT mechanism of the turbo causing overboost. To be sure you would have to do a boost log on VCDS but it sounds exactly the same as what mine did. Once I cleaned out the turbo it was fine again Other causes of overboost could be vacuum hose from turbo to box on top of drivers side top suspension mount, the box itself or the actuator on the turbo, but a build up inside the turbo is most likely. Try searching Mr muscle turbo cleaning Hope this helps
  11. Hi mate, whats the diameter of the egr delete and does it have a boost gauge fitting? Thanks
  12. the catches have a habit of popping off inside the car. Open the boot, pull the carpet back that goes up the side (over the drivers side wheel arch) and you should see if it's popped loose or not. If it has, simply clip it back into place
  13. I have one of the national smf kits fitted in mine and I've been very pleased with it so far (had it about a year) the pedal still feels very precise. it's coping fine with remap power as you would expect and I'm told it should take 300 ft/lb no problem. Also unlike some other smf kits it doesn't make noise at all! Also has a 3 year guarantee if I'm not mistaken Hope this helps
  14. I'm running a single mass flywheel kit from national. And I must say I'm very impressed with it, there's no extra noise from it what so ever and the pedal feels very precise (might just be as it's a new clutch). It's not an updated kit but they say it will take the same torque as a Sachs standard one so around 300 ft/lb. I think the chatter only comes when you get a lightweight smf
  15. personally I'd take the caliper off again and reassemble everything making sure the metal shims that the pads ride on are in the right place and secure, also take slide pins out again clean out the chanels that they slide in and relube using silicone grease on the slide pins (any other grease will degrade the rubber) and if the problem persists after that then look at replacing bits Hope this helps
  16. Pretty sure this wont be to do with the egr delete. However 9 times out of 10 it will bring up the eml. To solve the problem you've got try taking the maf sensor out (sensor in pipe just after air filter) and give it a clean with some electrical contact cleaner. It may not help but that's the first thing I'd try Hope that helps
  17. The fronts should fit straight in as the polo, new shape fabia and Audi a1 all share the same front seat bases. but rears may require a little modification
  18. Standard drop links fit fine mate, it's only the cheap coilovers that need different ones so I gather. but while your suspension is apart it's worth changing the top mounts and drop links anyway
  19. If he will include the correct kw rear shocks then they would be a very good buy. I've got weitec coilovers on mine and I'm very impressed with them
  20. There are many parts of the front suspension that can cause knocking. This video will hopefully help you narrow it down a bit. But work out what area or component it's coming from (get underneath and give bits a wiggle) then have a search for the specific problem https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=scFbb43fwqk# Hope this helps
  21. If you look at the connector you'll notice that they are pretty much two pairs of wires joined together, with the extra wires going up to the tweeter. So just solder them so the wires that are currently connected stay connected but with a new wire going to your new speaker. Basically you should end up with two Y shaped joins each with a wire going to HU one going to tweeter and one to new speaker Hope this makes sence
  22. Mine also does this from time to time (ASZ) but it did if even before I blanked my egr off so I don't think it is related. I haven't had any problems caused by it though so I just forgot about it lol I'm interested to see what's causing it though
