  1. Oh dear! :( Did it just scamper off into the foliage relatively unharmed? It will still be an expensive enough repair with at least a new wing and of course that will have to be fitted and resprayed. What other damage is there behind the bumper where it can't be seen and is the bonnet or the door damaged too? Still, at least you didn't hit the animal with the middle of the car because even a small deer could have smashed the windscreen, badly damaging the bonnet and the roof at the same time. You are very lucky to have come off so lightly.
  2. It seems to be working correctly again for the 5-door. However there is now a strange anomaly when trying to configure a 5-door Elegance instead. An upgrade from the standard set of 4x 14" Apus alloy wheels to 4x 15" black Auriga alloy wheel costs £660(!!!) with no mention of a spare wheel. To add insult to injury these black wheels can then be upgraded to 4x 15" silver Auriga alloy wheels (including a steel spare) for a further £190! Choose nearly all the options (inc 2 year extended warranty but excluding servicing) and the Citigo Elegance becomes a £13,090 car. Get a grip Skoda UK!!
  3. Thank you bluecar1, you made it very easy for me to find. You did all the hard work and I grabbed the glory; I'm not proud. :(
  4. The quote was from page 34 of the Citigo Owner's Manual PDF under the i Note heading.
  5. Fantastic news! It sounds like your story is going to have a very happy ending after all.
  6. Ah, but you do have it apparently, even it it's not directly controllable by the driver. "Periodic wiping is dependent on the driving speed. The faster the driver is going, the more frequent the wiper action." Good news eh?
  7. It's about time that VAG stopped ripping we triplets owners off by charging hundreds of pounds extra for Bluemotion (VW) Greentech (Skoda) and Ecomotive (Seat)? Maybe these new Skoda-built EU6 engines will all be sub 100gm/km of CO2 just like Toyota, Citroen and Peugeot are doing with the new Aygo, C1 and 108 respectively? (See below in blue) All their standard manual models using the 1.0 litre engine are rated at 95gm/km while the Eco model (equivalent to Greentech etc) is rated at 89gm/km. "Athough the 1.0 VVT-i is fundamentally the same unit as used by its predecessor, it’s been thoroughly reengineered for the new model. A higher compressions ratio of 11.5:1, a new low-friction timing chain and a cylinder head with built-in exhaust manifold to save weight have all helped to improve fuel efficiency and cut emissions. Fuel economy and CO2 emissions have improved by 3.3mpg to 69mpg and 4g/km to 95g/km of CO2 in the five-speed manual model, while the x-shift auto returns 67.3mpg and 97g/km. An eco model is also planned with stop-start fitted as standard, capable of returning 72mpg and 89g/km of CO2."
  8. Twist the white connector from side to side as well as pulling straight back and both at the same time. Once you have the first one off then all will be revealed and the second one will be a breeze.
  9. I'm using Windows 8.1 and FireFox too but when you mentioned it above, I tried Internet Explorer and it was exactly the same.
  10. It worked fine the other day but on my computer it's now immediately stating that the Smoker's Pack isn't compatible but it can't be added or removed?
  11. True but they were £24.95 for the pair. I'm Scottish and £24.95 was expensive enough for two bloody bulbs!!
  12. Both of them pull off but you have to tug really hard! The rubber covers and connectors are much easier to replace after you've swapped the bulbs. Good luck and don't skin your knuckles!!
  13. They came from HIDS-Direct. I posed this question to them on 18th February 2013 "I wonder if you would please tell me categorically if these LEDs will work as LED daytime running light LEDs for a Skoda Citigo/Volkswagen up!/Seat Mii? They are very expensive so I don’t want to chance them blowing. http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/r580-7443-w21-5w-gen-2-canbus-27-smd-5050-led-bulbs-white/ " and received this in reply "We have now sold quite a number of this model for the city car series from VAG, all with successful installations. I also haven’t heard of any quality issues when fitted!" Please note that I did not bend any pins or have to modify anything on the bulbs or wiring or sockets in any way. They were just as suggested i.e. Plug in & Play and worked perfectly first time. Easy Intallation - Simple Plug in & Play! Ingeniously developed, these LATEST 2nd Generation 7443 LEDs are designed in order to prevent bulb errors when fitting LED to modern cars. These new LED's have a built-in warning controller that stops any errors that you would normally experience with standard LED, improving on the older generation these new LEDS have better heat sink, resistance and longevity.
  14. My LED DRLs work perfectly as DRLs and sidelights. They have lasted over a year and 1,600 miles so far, he said just a little too smugly, hoping that they don't go phut just after this post. I tried nearly all the other DRL bulbs Polargs, MTECS, fakes etc and apart from looking a hasty blue when switched off, they were all yellow compared to the pure white LEDs even if not as yellow as the standard ones. I just fitted the LEDs without any modfications whatsoever.
  15. I use my TomTom Go 1005 and only use the Navigon PID as a big rev counter and outside temperature gauge. It's handy when reversing using the sensors/grapics/beeps plus it shows if any of the doors are open. I tried the SatNav function once or twice but never liked the look of it compared to TomTom. I bought a 32GB SD card and put loads of tunes on it but I've never heard a cheep from it because I obviously have the wrong type of files on it! :'(
  16. Yes, I can confirm that my car does have the black insert thing near the bonnet hinge on both sides. Apologies for the bad photo but I had to take it with my iPhone, inside the garage, illuminated by an LED torch because it's Bank Holiday Monday in Hove and it's bucketing with rain! Normally I'd have taken it with much better lighting but at least I've confirmed that your insert is missing.

    Paint

"The clear coat is a clear two-part paint. It is a polyurethane or urethane paint that provides a tough, clear and durable protection layer to the "software" water-based colour coatings. Because water-based paints are generally more porous, the clear coat bond exceptional well to them, producing a permanent bond between the layers." Surely "software" should say softer?

    Paint

I have just read ChrisR's article properly and it would appear that the clear coat isn't water based. If this is the case then why are cars still being badly damaged by bird crap? Surely the clear coat could be made resistant to almost anything? "The clear coat is a clear two-part paint. It is a polyurethane or urethane paint that provides a tough, clear and durable protection layer to the software water-based colour coatings. Because water-based paints are generally more porous, the clear coat bond exceptional well to them, producing a permanent bond between the layers."

Is the clear coat also water based?

    Paint

Do all colours have a Clear Coat now? If they do, presumably this is because the paint is water based so needs more protection from the elements and bird splat?
  21. No, the locking wheel nut caps will all be exactly the same part number so that's one less thing to have to worry about.
  22. Yes, you're probably correct there but you should still be able to source them here in the UK? Remember that each wheel has 3 non-locking caps and a different one to cover the locking wheel nut.
  23. I have silver 15" Auriga alloy wheels and the caps are black too. 2014 model year Citigos have different caps as seen below.
