Featured Replies

My car is not liking this new warmer weather, its decided to take up smoking and its very addicted to it.

I met up with mossman and oilburning last night and i am ashamed to say i was quite embarressed by the amount of soot exiting the tailpipe. :o

Heres the car after only 2 days of driving :o

:o I think my car needs to quit this filthy habbit

Try a double dose of Millers and an Italian tune up.

I do this regularly with ours and it doesn't smoke a bit.

what he said and also - clean the airfilter if it's been a while and stuff some silicon dielectric grease in the MAF connector boot. Disconnect the battery and THEN go out on an italian tune jobbie....

Hit 38 deg C out here yesterday - only smoke on WOT...Washbrook rules! :D

You need the "Shifty Exhaust Mod™" :)

Won't stop it smoking, but keeps it off the boot lid.

Good shout on the air filter.

Mine runs very clean in normal driving conditions, only when you give it full throttle does it smoke.

And the reason all the smoke was...............boost pipe nearly off on egr bypass pipe.

I have cleaned the oil off the rubber and relocated the clamp. goes quicker too now

Do tell?? I'm intrigued. Does your exhaust have a little hat or something?

I think you need to call **** Van Dyke!

Basically, the tailpipe was cut off, and a downspout welded to the new end of the exhaust, pointing the fumes and 11tybillion kilos of soot to the road, then the tailpipe cut to accomodate the intrusion, and welded back on. Ill get a photo later when I go out.

When I boot it, i leave a thick black line on the road from the exhaust, and my boot stays relatively clean.

Kinda like the trim on a Mondeo ST diesel or (Mk1) Fabia Sport, then?

Kind of, but not. Ill "draw" it in paint.

As you can see that is obviously the exhaust system off a Fabia vRS. The red bit is the part I have had welded in, to allow the soot to escape downwards away from the up draught at the rear of the car.

Drawing commisions by request

Can't wait - if my efforts to describe a W8 engine to Ken are anything to go by! :P

Brilliant! My place is looking for Technical Draughtsmen at the mo, I'll put your name forward if you want :P ;):D

(Good mod though )

So you can't "smoke off" anyone? What a truly nasty mod!

You do that too then

Best when someone pulls right up onto your rear bumper at lights. Quick blip of the throttle and they are covered

Incredibly childish but loads of fun :o

Oh no, it doesnt spoil that fun, it just stops it going all over my car. :D

Best kind of person to smoke off is a poser in an expensive convertible insisting on slowing down motorway traffic...

Work your way in front, drop it into 6th gear and floor it. Joy!!!!

Evil twin no. 2 Bas

There's smoking John, then there's taking the p1ss!

Glad your pipework is now back in good order
