Brembo 4 pots......

Featured Replies

i'm in the process of upgrading my 312's to brembo's cos i can't be bothered to paint the 312mm calipers:D

Yeh :P Thats another reason against VAG parts, they need a good painting - and thats a right ball-ache.

And Lummox, why in the name of god is the Mk4 disc so expensive??? Its insane!

I have no idea, its still single piece so nothing fancy.

Check out the RS6 discs for a propper scare though, last time we looked it was a grand for the front pair.

I think they're the same rotors used on the Lamborghini Gallardo. So I'd expect something horrific £ wise.

So if the LCR set up fits under my wheels, how much should i be expecting to pay for some?????

Hmmmm, at that price i might measure up and go for some wilwoods or something......

I wonder if they do them in green?????

Try a company called Compbrake as i believe they have this kit under development.

£475 is not that much. I paid £500 for my brembo kit 2nd hand, and with pads that needed changing imminently. :) I wouldn't go back to 312s now though, especially after the way they performed at the Ring.

They're not normal single piece they're almost 2 piece and they're very delicate. I've seen the discs bent at breakers due to the wheels been removed and the car balanced on the discs put on bricks.

You can see them here: VW MK4 GOLF R32 FRONT FLOATING BRAKE DISCS on eBay, also, Volkswagen, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 21-May-08 20:27:19 BST)

Indeed, don't know how that advert claims they are genuine disks when they clearly aren't.

I've run 3 sets of R32 brakes on different cars and they have their pros and cons.

Pro's being :-

  • Best bang for buck brake upgrade to be had IMHO, I've seen a full kit go for £300
  • With DS2500 pads on ECS 2 piece disks were awesome for Fast Road use
  • Good wheel clearance, fit under most 17" and 18" wheels of the RS4, R32, RS6, Super T type design without spacers

Con's :-

  • Very heavy, noticeable increase in unsprung weight and adverse affect on handling
  • Modulation not fantastic
  • Show their limits under sustained heavy braking (compared to same pads and disks with 4 pots)
  • Tend to wear one side of disks heavily

If I had the choice again I would definitely go for a monobloc 4-pot, braking feel is excellent over OEM and of course they simply work better. But then again they cost more.

How about these for a alternative to using the Golf R32 caliper and disk, Put these on to my wife's Fabia last night and they also fit under the standard 16 inch rim. 330mm disk and six pot caliper.21768.attach

From the look of them don't expect much change from £1000!

That said they do look gorgeous  (i'm a sucker for CNC machined things :D)

I believe Awesome sell a kit that uses Boxter rear calipers on 312mm disks.

Any radial mount caliper can be made to fit with a little knowledge and the right caliper mounting bracket.

The issues you face are caliper to wheel spoke clearance and the need for spacers. Wheel diameter isn't as big an issue as people seem to make out.

Knowing from personal experience that R32 disks/calipers fit under 17" with bags of room, I would hazard a guess that GT/LCR Brembos may squeeze under 16" but again, spacers would probably be required.

I'd say they won't as the 312mm is a tight squeeze with only a small amount of clearance.

I think the 323mm would have issues with the balance weights.

She does'nt need to drive it any harder and they deffo dont need beddng in anymore :D.

Have to say these brakes are totally awesome with a good pedal feel and massive stopping power with no sign of fade after some very spirited driving

Tony i will bring the car over for a check up next week but as of last night all seems well, and i still cant get over the size of the disk in the wheel.

The wife tell's me that there was a gang of men looking at the brakes at her work's in there lunch hour with comment's of there bigger than my brakes on me Audi .

Just a quick update on the 6 pots, all is well with the kit. the brakes are still awesome, obviously they are not been worked very hard on the road but im sure in the future a few track days may see there real worth. After looking at these kits on a ford website and reading the reviews they had been getting im sure i wont be disapointed with them. also the backup I have recieved from the supplier has been first class from the initial inquiry right through to the check up after fitting had been done. I wont talk about the cost of the kit as it is not up to me to discuss it, but what I will say is that it is very resonable price and if you choose to go this way with your brakes you will deffo not be disapointed.

After standard brakes I thought my 312's were the dog's and on the average road they are fine :)

But after a ride in Clarey's Octy with Tarox G88 disc and associated pads, have to say they have the edge on the standard set up and thats just from the left seat

But them 6 pots... they look unbelievable

I reckon the 312's are amazing. Or is that just me?

Ive got mintex pads and discs.

Eyes do pop out!!!

Best noticable when youve got a car of 4, and you tell them all to brace 'cos you want to try your brakes.

Stops quick.

Yeah, I find the 312mm set up to be brilliant. Much much better than standard.

Took my Dad for a drive, and one thing he did comment on when I first got the car was that the brakes weren't up to a lot.

Needless to say he was impressed.

Try that with Brembos :D You'll leave seatbelt burns across all their chests :D

I know one thing, when it comes to heavy rain / surface water, it doesn't matter what brakes you have. Water is a very "levelling" factor

My God !!!!

Those six pots are just incredible!! Where are they from?
