Octavia vs Integra - I took him like a King

Featured Replies

Not really. Me and a mate had an early morning blast around the moors near Whitby. In a straight line there was nothing in it. When we got to the corners, I just couldn't keep up. After a quick go in his I could see why - what an amazing car.

Why anyone would remap their Octavia before sorting the handling I don't know. If I ever do mod the vRS, I'd sort the handling first. After the Integra, it felt like a floaty barge and quite remote in terms of throttle, brakes and steering feel.

I still love it for what it is and wouldn't want the hassle of having to rev the nuts of the car to get anywhere, but I'd sell my left nut if the Octavia went round corners like that mental Jap go-cart.

Thanks. You can't fail to take good photos up there really.

lovely pics,

to make the octy handle like an integra:

kw varient 3 kit

uprated bushes

17" TD prorace 1.2 in 17x8 et 32 with decent tyres

remove spare wheel and boot trim.

replace front seats with lightweight fixed back ones + 4 point harnesses - (you will need them).

black diamond discs (fr) and ds2500 pads all round + 4.1 fluid.

then you will more than keep with him round the bends,

add a light remap and decent induction kit and you will hand him his *** on a plate with a side salad.

or its cheaper to buy him so low quality 17" rims for his birthday at which point it will destroy the handling of the teg.....

I know which I'd have given the opportunity again.

Nice shots mate but have to say that the Teg is in need of a good polish

Thanks for the pics, I like the integras.

How much would it could to sort out the octavias handling? :)

In my defence, I only picked the car up yesterday and have spent the best part of 4 hours polishing the thing after the run today with skinnymans auto balm... it looks much better now .

Agreed. He only collected it yesterday. The whole paint job is in need of some TLC, the usual fading is on the roof, bonnet and worst of all the wing mirrors. No doubt it'll be sorted before long.

I had a tussle with a mate of mine who'd just got a supercharged 'Teg with Tein EDFC coilovers. We were on Blyton Park circuit and when I was in front he was all over my @$$, but I was pleasantly surprised when I let him through that he only pulled out 1-2 car lengths a lap from me. I didn't get a drive but it looked very stable through the bends and I think if we'd swapped seats I'd have annihilated my little Furby.

I suppose i can let you off then ;)

Still looks stunning though mate

Spend the same on the 'Teg and again the Octy's nowhere near....

Sports car vs Minicab. No contest...

I agree. They are both totally different cars with different characters, but made the Sunday morning outing equally enjoyable for different reasons. The Skoda is effortless and quite deceptive about the speed you are travelling at. The Integra tells you exactly what's going on all the time, puts a big grin on your face but needs more invlovement from the driver to do so.

Another thing to consider is that mine is needed to carry the family, all the luggage, travel cot, pushchair etc whereas the Integra will mainly be for fun. (He has a Mk2 2.0 pd140 4x4 Octavia for the mundane stuff)

Considering this, it is amazing that the vRS keeps up at all with the Type R. I still love the Octavia for this reason.

was that the A171 whitby to scarboutgh road, if so lovly bit of road. Nothing like a sunday drive in two cracking motors

Yes, we both live in Scarborough. Although we're a pretty backwards bunch up here with our flat caps and Whippets, we must have done something right as the great Lord has granted us with such fantastic countryside and roads. The Whitby to Pickering road is also an amazing run when traffic is at a minimum, makes owning such cars have a point. If we lived in a massive suburban sprawl there'd be too much frustration and lack of opportunity to really test the cars out. Don't tell anyone about how great it is though as they'll all want to live here...

thought it was scarborough is my second home and I'm due a visit again this year so if you see a yellow furby with a newcastle registered plate give me a wave. your right the countryside out there is fantastic.

Cheers... it does need some TLC on the paintwork as skinnyman said, but for the price I paid and only 62K on the clock it's a peach of a car.

skinnyman and I have often discussed the possibilities of "improving" the handling/power of our cars, but have finally come the conclusion in our old(er) age that the engineers working for whichever manufacturer probably set the car up pretty much spot on, a point well made by redbaron and purchasing larger wheels!

[Edit] - Although apparently in the case of the Octy there were one or two odd decisions which could have been improved upon (sorry skinnyman - I think I missed that comment in a haze of XB!).

Excellent picturess and two stunning cars

I have a soft spot for Integras myself. :)

Sorry to disagree you mal.practice old mate, but I reckon they could have put a better ARB on the Octavia from the outset. Other than that I'm with you.

I think this is true in a lot of cases...

Nice pics skinnyman, I must admit I have a soft spot for integras aswell! ;)

Thanks. Having looked very closely at your sig, I can't imagine at all why you say you like Integras.....

well i must admit also the honda R range is just amazing for focused driving.

My girl had the civic R 54 reg now she has the new one with 19" option wheels and what a machine way superior than what vag has to offer but at a price, No torque.

I have been on a few runs with the honda club, doing 2=300 miles and it was only recently when i chucked my bilstiens and fitted koni with caster kit and front whiteline roll bar to complement the rr bar i could keep up with most of them.

But when i tried too with one of them with a 240hp civic and cambered, castered braced and 3-way adj supension no chance it just went round corners like i have never seen.

Good cars can only be as good as the engineering that went in to them for the purpose intended by the manufacturer. Skoda is good all round car, Integra is for one purpose only To be the best handling frt drive car on the planet

You cant compete in that senario. Handling always wins over Power eventually.
