I did wonder, but I don't remember any mention of him being cut-out - Only that it was written off due to someone else's fault.

maybe he got fed up with how slow it was so tried to make a rag top with an angle grinder

?

Could the insurance company have instructed someone to cut the roof, so that there was no possibility of it going back on the road?

Looks like typical fire brigade machinery did the chop, so I reckon it was done out of perceived necessity at the scene of the accident. :)

can't find the thread but i was under the impression he was cut out of the car:confused:

Not so sure, think he got swiped by a BMW....

shame the leather has the blue bits on it really as it will clash with most colours now

glad the guys ok though

ouch!

Yeh he was cut out, think the thread might have been deleted, it was getting 'questionable'

Looking at the picture and speaking as 1 who does cut people out of cars id say yes its a fire brigade job. Looks like the driver's side of the vehicle took the brunt of the impact so the occupants may well have suffered neck or spinal injuries. Removing the roof is best way to remove them from the car on a long board as we take no risks with these types of injuries. In leicestershire you dont get a say if you want your roof removing, we just do it. Only doctors can tell you once you been scanned and examined at hospital if you have any damage in those areas. Classic cut of A, B and C pillars and a glass saw across the bonded windscreen soon made light work of that. If i really want to bore you then you can see next to the cut on the drivers A pillar that the glass has a bigger hole in it. This is where it was probably punched through using an axe to make a hole for the glass saw to start cutting from drivers side to passenger.

RR was cut out and he did ask for the thread to be deleted.

I have phoned them up today to ask about the interior. I wasn't sure if I could replace my standard VRS interior with the SE interior (wasn't sure about airbags or heated seats, these on SE?).

They want £1000 +VAT for it including the doorcards. I think this is a bit OTT as you can get a full retrim to your taste (as many have) for a lot less than that.

Seems a bit steep. They're probably looking at the fact that it's a rare item (excluding Seat Surgeons retrimming service for a moment) and that it was a circa £1300 option from Skoda.

I can confirm that the car is No 439 as well, which was Rich's.

I doubt they paid £1000 for the wreck from the insurance company.... I have asked them for quotes for bits before and never got a good price. Sometimes, it's been cheaper to go to Skoda for new bits.

They are very expensive..... they wanted stupid money for an A4 leather interior, which I got cheaper else where.

Ask them how much the facelift rear lights are. ;) I bet I got the set on its way to me now cheaper NEW. :D

Often the way with the salvage guys though isn't it - get a little bit greedy!

Worth it at twice the price if they are demoting lexarse type :P

to quote the illustrious Richard Richard: Steep! Its effing vertical!! :D you can get the Sparco interior from the FRS for less, and that isn't just standard seats with a leather retrim

Seems all salvage yards are increasing prices at the moment.

I was quoted £35 without delivery for a used front wing a few months back, i actually got a brand new one elsewhere for £40 delivered.

is that the guy who told us he'd rolled his previous 6 cars ?
