london - mongolia charity rally

Featured Replies

on july 5 me and my mate jon are driving to mongolia, this is our website about it.

the reason for this post is that we need 2 rear shocks for a skoda favorit, at the end of the rally the car is donated to raise money for mongolian charities.

So, does anyone have a pair of rear shocks they would like to donate, we also need a few other spares, but i cant think what they are at this present time.

Your help will be greatly appreicated

this is our website, sorry its so slow to open

Don't have the parts you require sorry. But GOOD LUCK to you on your trip..

Keep us posted on progress..

Good luck.

Sponsored someone on the rally a few years back. They made it as far as dover. The route and blog posts prove its an event for nutters and the brave.

welcome to briskoda and good luck with your trip.

Welcome and good luck :)

Good luck

Felicia shock absorbers should fit too if that helps.

Thankyou ANEWMAN for that advice and to all our well wishers.

RE: Rear shock absorbers, we still require 2 Rear shocks for our Favorit, we are willing to buy them at a reasonable cost, we do not care if they are for a Foreman, Felicia or Favorit, or if they are a bit bouncy.

Since the car will be carrying a lot of weight (5 spare wheels plus other kit) over rough dirt roads any advice concerning suitable and easy modifications would be appreciated. Also advice on the cars ability to cope with low octane fuel would be useful.

We are back

We managed to get some rear shocks from a 2005 polo, although shorter they were stronger and in better condition.

When you see these pics youll understand why we needed strong shocks, we had 6 spare wheels 5 across the rear behind our seats and the other in the spare wheel well

The skoda didnt make it to Mongolia, :( The roads in Khazakstan are just unbelivable and we tore a 6" hole in the fuel tank.

I will try this rally again sometime, and man i miss my Favorit. I now have a really crappy 106 Open :(

You should really start a new thread about this in the general car chat section as visitors are rare to this section of the forum.

Fascinating stuff. Hope you enjoyed it.

Thread moved to gen car chat

I am so jelous!!

I'd love to do this trip, in fact I do plan to drive to Mongolia one day. Probably not until 2011 or 2012 but I will have to arrange with work to have a couple months leave and just hit the road!

Excellent photos. Do you have any tips about driving further afield?

The furthest East I ever driven would be Finland/Estonia/Romania.
