Ive got an octy vrs and im thinking of trading it for a fabia vrs. My question is will i be disappointed in doing so, or will I still get a smile on my face? I know the big difference will be the mpg, which at this moment in time is is well worth it. Its just I do like that element of suprise that so many poeple get when they try and overtake (that oh its only a skoda) but then get a real shock!:D

please let me know what you think

Thanks.

It's a completely different car and you need to drive it in a different way.

Take a test drive and see what you think

hi mate, theres an obvious difference between running 200+ bhp and the standard fabia 130 but with a few choice mods you can sensibly get 170-180 bhp and still get decent mpg with good handling to match. theres loads of food for thought on here but the favourites include

- remap

- 312mm brakes

- rear arb (whiteline/jabba etc)

- uprated cupra/powerflex buses

- exhaust such as blueflame, miltek etc

- pd160 intake/new panel filter

these are the sort of things im currently on with, probably going for the remap last and maybe some koni fsd's or something. that will certainly get you the element of surprise and give you a decent smile on your face i would have thought. bear in mind though it is a smaller car and even as standard they are good fun. mines currently at standard power but its a great laugh and can still give it plenty when required

Best bet is to take a test drive, the PD130 engine has a lot of low down grunt, shift up at about 3,000 revs though!

I've had mine for 3 years now and iit still puts a big smile on my face!

If your expecting the power of your octy over a standard Furby, i think you'll be dissapointed as you cant compare a 200+bhp petrol to a 130bhp diesel.

BUT......as its already been said, a few quid spent on remaps, clutch, brakes etc then you'll be smiling away to yourself like a gormless idiot........LIKE ME!!! lol lol lol

IMO they're great wee cars, loads of fun and good on the old bit go-go juice

I think that you will be fine mate.

Im thinking of doing the same thing my self as at the end of the year my 7 miles to work is likely to become 40 so sadly the mpg will be needed

3k?? bit low, I keep going just before 4. thats when the curve drops off

I made the move about 2 months ago from a tuned Octy vRS to a tuned Fabia vRS.

I rate them both about the same, love driving them both.

Although at the moment, i would say the Fabia is more fun. :)

I went the other way and swapped my Furby vRS for an Octy vRS. I was disappointed with the Octy and thought the Fabia was more fun, more so once mapped:D.

Test drive one. if you still like the idea and don't need the room of the octy go for it:thumbup:

Had my Fab RS since new, over three years ago and I still love it. About a year ago I had an Octy vRS for a week as my mate was away on hols. I didn't rate it as much as my Fab, and thats the honest truth. Maybe it was the way I drove it but it didn't FEEL as fast, although the bhp says it is.

So, make of that what you will.

My question is will i be disappointed in doing so

Yes. You will be :)

You wont be disapointed mate! When you hit 2000rph its lik someone pushing you back in your seat! Iv had my car over a year and it still makes me a very happy man!:D

Standard furby wont be a quick but it will feel like you going alot quicker which is the fun bit:)

Id try to test drive a standard one and a modded one and see what you think.

Good luck!

Thanks Everybody,

I am on the lookout and have not yet decided but I must admit if i do change then it will be for a fabia vrs. I have every intention to get it remapped as that seems like the best bet. I do understand that the torque of the engine kicks in low down. The octy takes a bit of time to get going but realy does fly:D. Iam really happy with it. It is a great car. Im doing more miles now so it does point to going for a diesel what with rip off britain and all that. Is the strength of the fabia then around town and overtaking at say 30 onwards? and pulling in high gears.

So at the minute im just looking but you all know what that does. See if i can get a reasonable deal

Thaks everyone much appreciated!!

Yes! But it takes a while and some experimenting to get your own feel of what the car can do. You can quite happily pootle around town in 3rd gear between 20 and 30mph pulling 1500 to 2500ish rpm. It'll drag it's self along at 30 in 4th but, if you need to stab the throttle to get out of the way of something then it will complain and probably want 3rd insted.

It's a very accomplished motorway cruiser too!! I cover a lot of motorway miles at the weekends visiting friends and family. My only gripe is the seat becomes a little uncomfortable after a couple of hours (requiring a fidget or a stop to regain comfort).

And then there's the overtaking prowess, but i'm sure you've read about that before :)

Having driven plenty of both and owning a Fabia vRs given the option of either car i'd go for the Octy personally.

it all depends on what you want. Personally I rate both of the very highly, having had an Octi vrs and SWMBO having a fabia vrs they a both stunning cars in their own right but they are completly different to drive.

Your best option is to find a fabia you can have an extended test drive and take it along some of the roads you love in your Octi for a decent comparison.

Hopefully this will help make your decision.

You should ask Dave (Shifty). He apparently had both, and got rid of the Octy. I asked him why and he was pretty convincing that the Fabia was more fun to drive.

Of course that's only one opinion.....
