Octy II VRS TDI - Tuning Options?

Featured Replies

Better remove the ductape, it will be very nasty to remove if it dries out!

Leaves a lot of glue on your plasticbits.

And some comments to the bluefin. I am driving with SC data myself.

Had some little comments about the power delivery and SC prompt sent me another file. Have tried 3 different files so far. All different with noticeable different character.

I wasnt satisfied with the powerdelivery at the speeds I use to drive. I use to drive a lot on our autobahns, always in 6th from 120 km/h on to topspeed. The first file had a couple of hickups at 160-180. The second file was more economic, didnt have the hickup at highspeed but a small one at about 140. Had a smoother powerdelivery, but I was missing the power at higher speeds. The file I am driving now is much better for my driving. Although still a little hesitation at 120 and 140 (at full acceleration in 6th) it delivers much more power at 160 to 230. And the little hesitation can be overcome by not applying fullthrottle.

My clocked time from 160-180 speedo is in the range of 5.5 secs. Used to be about 9 secs!

For aftersales customerservice SC is excellent and recommended!! Files were sent within a couple minutes (during workday).

Biggest advantage, you can always remove the SC files and playback the original files. What you should do, after changing the files, is remove all the DTCs. Herefor you need VCDS (or VAG-COM).

We were the first UK tuner to successfully tune the new 170PD engines.

Theres some members reviews in our forum section.

Only £295.00 all in for members. The P-Torque software gives approx 205bhp and 325lbs/ft of torque

Thanks for the tip; I have got some very good 'sticky stuff remover' that I use regularly for just this job. ;)

I added some comments about the bluefin in my last post :P

I think I've said it before but it might be worth holding out for a little while and keeping an eye on the US side of things. The new 2.0 TFSi uses a similar setup on the intake so proper kits will be coming on to the market soon.

Hi guys, new to the forum.

I'm also looking to tune the vRS TDI. I've only covered 1200 miles in it so far. Getting the Bluefin shouldn't be a problem should it?

I found the Bluefin/Superchips website a bit odd. No 'add to basket' button for the Skoda, but looking at the same engine in the Audi/Seat, it has the 'add to basket' button available.

Do you think it would be wise to go ahead and purchase the Audi one (seeing as its effectively the same engine) or should I contact to make sure its correct?

The bluefin device is only a handheld to change the ECU files. All the VAG devices are identical. They all come with the same lead you need to plug in to your car.

The files are supplied by SC. You send your own original file to SC and they will provide a rewritten file.

Just ask JKM or Superchips themselves whether they have files for your car, if your still unsure (you dont have to, I drive a 170 PD myself).

JKM is still doing the superdeal with a green airfilter, just check their website

Is the Intercooler used on the TFSi the same as that used on the TDi?

If so, is it viable to use the S3 Alloy Cooler as Stu has done things with on his TFSi?

If so, thats something i'd be considering for mine next Autumn...

This question came up a couple of weeks ago and I looked the parts up. As far as I can see the intercooler would fit. The OP of the thread was pretty convinced that his intercooler had a pipe exiting from the top which did surprise me a little as both ppes are on the bottom, however just been out and looked at our LEON PD140 and for sure the I/C pipes both exit the bottom, the radiator has an inlet at the top.

BE THE FIRST TO DO THE CR 170 ENGINE THEN !!!

( Its in the TT Too)

I got the 57-0618, see here;- 57-0618 - K&N 57i Series Kits, 57i International Intake Kit

Here is a pic of it installed (complete with Heath Robinson's heat shields and cold air intake ducting);- OctaviavRS040.jpg

My vRS TDI is a 2007 PD engine, not the latest CR, but I doubt there is any difference in the air filter arrangement.

I hope this helps.

Guy

I've had a PD140 for 2yr and it looked very similar to the PD170 you have here

Had a good look at my CR170 today and its very different the turbo is mounted much higher at the back of the engine, easy to get to LOL

Thanks anyway

I've looked at mine in the past when you put up pics of the S3 one - my pipes definitely exit at the bottom - it also has an Alloy or Steel pipe to take the charge from the Turbo Compressor to the 'Cooler, take it this is correct?

It's definitely something i'd consider doing myself, have you had any RR Runs with the S3 Cooler in to see if its made any difference to the figures? IIRC, you reported the car felt different (improved) with it fitted?...

I have had a RR done since I fitted the cooler and it did seem quite favourable. It would be difficult to pin any specific gains to the cooler as some of the pipework was changed too.

We already do....no problem :)

Has anyone got any experience of DPT? Home » Diesel Power Tuning - Specialists in Diesel Tuning, Diesel Power and Diesel Performance using the DPT Tuning Box

My Octy II VRS TDI (2008 - PD I think) is a company car, so I want discrete tuning that the dealer isn't going to notice at a quick inspection or service. I assume a re-map (such as P-Torque) will show up as a modded ECU when plugged into the dealer diagnostics for regular servicing?

As I understand it, the DPT is attached the fuel pump and alters the sensor signals sent to the ECU which in turn ups the amount of diesel injected.

The DPT suggests similar power and twist gains to the ECU re-maps.

I suspect the desire to conseal the installation is a non-starter.

Any experienced thoughts would be welcome.

Do a search fr previous thread 'DPT Tuning Box' - I've already posted some feedback there.
