To a Vrs

Featured Replies

Just a quick question, is it possible to change a glxi (the octavia discontinued one in 2000) to look like a Vrs eg. bumpers, spolier, interior etc.....

Because i managed to pick a Glxi with 30k miles on the clock for cheap but adore the looks of the Vrs :D

I seen a W plate TDi, that fooled me looking like a vRS. not sure if that will help.

Like this one?

This is a 90bhp diesel pre facelift

The work is still in progress , but shows , yes you can

With enough money and parts yes

all the parts are orderable, i wished i got a vrs front bumper for mine when i ordered it.

Mmmm they are orderable

Just OEM parts at the moment

It has the LCR splitter on too , while the bumper was off Mark fitted it with the plastic number plate screws

Would it not be cheaper to buy a VRS!? And a lot less hastle, And have a better car in the end. You also run the risk of actually making your own car less valuable as the kind of buyer of your car tends not to want one thats been messed about with.

I much prefer to have a wolf in sheeps clothing than the other way around. I mean to do it properly were talking rub strips, rear wing, front bumber, wheels, brakes ect ect.

Are you going to lower it to the same hight as a Vrs, badge it up as a Vrs ect ect.

Sell it and buy the real deal for less overall IMHO.

No it is not cheaper

Can you imagine doing 150 mile round trip PER day in a vRS

No , I dont think so

The car is not being dome up for no other rewards than how much pleasure it gives the owner

Not for resale , and dont give a hoot as to how much it is worth resale

The side skirts are extra , the front bumper , it has already been lowered

It has front and rear ARB`s to go on , and also the rear bumper

It has the pillar covers too to go on

All because the owner wants to....no other reason

I want a vRS , but cannot afford to get 35MPG and do 150 mile round trip per day

60MPG in diesels is OK thank you

Sarah

As long as all stock parts are retained, I don't see why it would affect the resale value? Surely if the car was to be sold, and the owner put it back to standard then he would be able to command the same money as any other standard one.

Besides, Some people look specifically for a car what looks nice but won't get them into as much trouble as one with a VRS engine, and will probably be cheeper to run / service / repair!

Sounds like I'm not gona get a cup of tea next time I go to Awesome

Sarah, my question was not intended to put you fellas car down at all and was aimed at simsey69. He has not mentioned how many miles he does. All this can't come cheap and I'm sure you pay much less for the fitting of components such as suspension ect.

With his car having low miles and he's got it cheap it is possible he could actually make money on the sale. Im just weighing up the cost of all the items required especially as he has mentioned converting the interior also. Say for example it is converted all the way the cost I would imagine will go into 2-3 or more thousand pounds.

Now his curerent car plus 2-3 thousand equals one very nice Vrs.

Now for tho's doing high millage an LPG conversion would be more economical AND ADD VALUE TO THE CAR.

Everyones circumstances are different but surely you can see my point?

there is a taxi in middlesbrough that has done this.. even down to the VRS badge. however the wheels aren't right and the exhaust was way too small for a VRS.

wow didn't expect that many replys ( new ) LOL. I respect that it may be expensive but I must keep in mind im 20 and do bout 1500 miles a month so getting an extra 5 mpg rely helps the bank balance. I'm more willing to pay awesome than the big men at the petrol companys. Saying that though I was thinking bout turning this octy in to an LPG motor. I think I'm gona convert but I'll wanna keep it for quite a bit so I'll get me moneys worth well I hope! by the way loving the conversion on 'marks'. I'll get a proper Vrs when I got some where to keep it safe. Thanks for all ya posts much appreciated!

Well thats fair enough. If you do it well you'll have a rare car - a green Vrs! They only did them in White, Silver, Black, Red and Yellow.
