You will have to build your no claims up from scratch. You can say on the quote you have driven another car for 3 years etc. I insured mines at 19 for £900, i made myself the main driver (£1400) added my mum as a named driver (dropped to £1100) and added my stepdad aswell as a named driver (dropped to £900)

In the insurance companys eyes this means im less likely to be driving thus reducing my premium... give it a shot

try admiral and elephant ;)

Oh and before the goody twoshoes brigade starts the named drivers do drive my car once in a while ( moving it from the drive to the street LOL ) ;)

just shop around, i found admiral to be the best company for me.

after someone hitting me last year i lost my no claims and i ended up with a renewal price of £1600, admiral were over £1000 cheaper!

Some of the supermarkets give good quotes

When they ask if you're a named driver just say you've been a named driver on a policy for 3 years.

Insurers will check claims etc they always ask for proof of an NCB too like a prev insurance certificate.

Just shop around and good luck

yes, what he said....... ^^^

I'm with admiral myself, could of got cheaper cover by about £100 but admiral were the best option i think, with a decent level of cover at a very reasonable price.

SWMBO was a named driver on my policy for 5 years. When she got her furby, this was taken into account by her insurer. She received 5 years NCD but it will only be protected when she's had her own policy for 5 years. They did ask for proof of her named driver status.

I used bell.co.uk and premium was £750 with similar details to yours. Also you can opt for the Bonus Accelerator which means after 10 months they give you 1 years No Claims Bonus and is also a little cheaper.

direct line offer that discount, if uve been a named driver on one of their policies

Try CHRIS KNOTT INSURANCE. They are a broker and gave me an excellent quote, including mods.

Try getting a quote *BEFORE* you buy the car.

As I have mentioned before; Take an advanced course with the IAM. Your insurance will drop by hundreds of pounds, and your driving will improve no end into the bargain.

I have no ncb on the VRS - it's a long story - and the closest I could get to a high street name was Elephant. Have you tried them (or a broker)?

Give Allen & Allen (Quote A Car etc) a ring and tell them your story. They may offer you an introductory no claims bonus. Be warned though, you can't protect that bonus until you've been insured for a year.

I'd avoid them, used them when I got my first car and were horrendous to deal with :thumbdwn:. Although, to be fair, that was a few years ago now :o.

Get quotes before buying the car.

The Furby VRS is group 9

But if are young and have 0 years ncb then they'll quotes you high no matter the car.

You could always get a Felicia ;)

they still are aweful to deal with, but they are cheap, just be prepared to send your details several times:D
