How hard could it possibly be

God i dont stop...

Also, the other good thing about a S/C over a turbo is, if you want to up the boost, you just have to get a smaller pully and belt, not rebuild your turbo charger!

But both would need to be remapped.

Hmmm... definitely a good idea :)

the problem with the rotrex or any centrifugal S/C is that they need an external oil pump/tank/pipework...

it does sound very easy 'just whack a tiny little pulley on there' but it's just not as easy as that, with any supercharger you get to a certain point where it doesn't matter how fast you spin it you get no more boost and all that does is add heat to the intake charge, this is caused by rotor leak-by and there's realy nothing much you can do about it unless you inject the fuel downstream of the charger, but then that causes other problems which need to be overcome too, your practical limit for a roots supercharger is about 12psi,

althought a centrifugal charger is technically more efficient, and will make stupid amounts of boost with the right gearing, they offer very little or no boost at low engine rpm's which kinda defeats the object a little

Also, isnt the "dead spark" systems not for petrol only?

 i've never seen a diesel engine with spark plugs

just get a turbo then ceramic coat the manifold/turbo/downpipe and inlet manifold then use heat shielding on the rest of the intake system for an ulta cool engine bay :)

why not do both... rumour has it that it might just work....

(sorry its 4wd but it will give bengie the horn....)

woot for AWD!!

forgot to say, no way, ever, not in a million years, ever, will you give me the horn :)

Horn.... im sorry, cant help it!

Back to the subject...

You cant really inject derf downstream of a S/C too well tho.

And agreed on the pipework/header tank etc, but a supercharged diesel would be nice.

My uncle has a Foden lorry, which sounds gurt lush, its a 2stroke S/C 'd diesel!!!

S/C wine is nice too. But i still think it will solve alot of the traction problems with the turbos spiking a bit (even with genteel map).

30psi...

TWIN SCREW SUPERCHARGER on eBay, also Engine Tuning Parts, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 27-Jul-08 20:28:42 BST)

You'd have to get 30 odd psi to get a good 2bar really, and a S/C uses 5/10% of the power, depending on how its geared.

You just have to look, and use google to find out the best stuff.

Improvise with your search, like try 'supercharger project', to find someone else's step by step guide.

And remember, anything is possible

Although, id still want twin turbo over a S/C any day.

the true answer though is to have the two turbo aswell as a super charger :)

forgot to say, no way, ever, not in a million years, ever, will you give me the horn :)

top gunning i hear is the way forward... according to facebook...

i stay clear of face book so i don't always get to hear of the latest sexual crazes :)

You'd have to get 30 odd psi

to run a petrol at 30psi you would need a static compression ratio of about 6:1 and that would be absolutely aweful off boost performance. it simply wont work

Hang on...

Are we talking about S/Cing a petrol? and ive been blabbering about diesel??

If so, petrols are a piece of pee to supercharge.

And the charger from the Mini will be sufice, but would still say get a smaller pully for that little extra.

Ive got a feeling they only make 8psi on the minis.

Ok whilst we're on the subject, what sort of gain would you expect if you strapped one of these superchargers to a 1.6 16v currently only putting out 100hp?

Much other work involved? ECU? Sort sort of mapping?

Its not as easy as an already charged car.

Best optoin is to get a stand alone ecu and get rid of the Skoda one.

Tuning will be easy then.

Will go well on a 16 valver tho. Good abount of power.

Can an Octavia RS take the Merc or BMW Supercharger Teflon?

Can an Octavia RS take the Merc or BMW Supercharger Teflon?

yeah it can, anything is possible if you've got a big enough wallet;)

although there isn't a lot of free space around the engine to play with on the octavia, you'd be better off playing with what's already there and fitting an uprated turbocharger

Turbo would be the way forward really, if its power you want.

If its comfort of driving, then supercharger.
