Hail Storm Causes

Featured Replies

There's a gotcha on the tracking screen - the Port of Exit Release field is positioned on the screen after the Arrived Port of Exit field, but is dated before the car leaves the factory - at least it is in my case. An inexperienced salesman could see that and assume it had been allocated a ship.

My salesman now says his screen say my Skoda is "off shore" - what's that mean?

Well I guess that's 'Ocean Blue'

I originally wanted 'Ocean Blue', but Skoda had finished that tin of paint so I ordered 'Silver', but since then it seems they found another tin because there are some 'Ocean Blue' ones in the production stream now, apparently.

Ocean Blue is AFAIK only available on the Roomster.

The Octy Estate up to its door handles in 'Ocean' (as pictured) is a vRS and thus will be Race Blue.

Off shore

I'd guess the ship hasn't reached Port of Entry yet. It seems to take a week or more; they must take the scenic route.

My dealer has been assured mine is ashore, and guaranteed he'll be able to register it on Monday. We're now aiming for hand-over next week, before he goes off to get married, but I'm not holding my breath.

What's the margin at full list price? 8-9%?

On a mid spec octavia at £15k then that's £12-1300.

Add to that the bonuses that you get when you hit target and it's probably not too far wrong.

Clearly it will be less on a base Fabia but more on a high end Octavia or Superb.

then take into consideration that nearly everyone wants discount? the average being 5-8%

so then thats the front end gone out the window, dont forget that needs to pay for pdi, cleaning etc etc.

2k profit is a dream in todays market place!!

but back on subject its nice to know the cars are coming through now looking mint. hopefully everyone whos waiting for cars will get them soon

HA HA S41NT thats where your car is !!!

Has anyone got delivery of their 'storm damaged' car yet and if so, what's the paint/bodywork actually like?? I have visions of the odd off colour match where they've sprayed one panel as opposed to the whole car, even though i doubt that will actually happen: not worth it to Skoda!

Have to concur with MD AF on this issue. My vRS recently had a run in with a concrete silo at a local building site. The upshot was that all but the NSR wing and tailgate needed painting.

My local bodyshop matched it all in perfectly, so if they can do it, so can Skoda.

Bagpuss.

Gonna train Molly up to bitch slap you for that :D:finger::D

Well, it appears that mine will be in the dealers next week, about 3 weeks from build. They say that it can be ready for the 20th, which is exactly what I wanted.

S41NT your car is on the boat now due into Grimsby Friday!!!

Another car i know but just bought a brand new Golf R32 5 door and got £5500 discount of it

It was a £28000 car paid £22500

Shows what profit is in a golf anyway as the dealer wouldnt have sold it for a loss!!!

Reckon its still worth waiting for 01/09/08?

I'd decided to get mine as a 1st day '58 plate instead of a late '08 one as soon as I heard about the delay cos of the storm. Can't imagine it making a blind bit of difference to the dealer, and it'll look swish. That and it'll be the ONLY time i'll EVER be able to have a new car, let alone a new reg on day one!

I got it!

My new Octy estate 1.9TDI (Elegence) is sat outside the house now. Just done 100 miles in it and averaged 53.6 MPG. SWMBO is most impressed, so that makes two of us. I gave it a close inspection, and while there were a couple of marks that looked enough like scratches to have the salesman take it back to the service bay, they turned out to be glue residue, and there was certainly no sign of hailstone damage.

So a big thumbs up to Farmers Leicester, and especially to "Dave" for putting up with me for so long. We got there in the end. (SWMBO loved the flowers.)

My dealer rang me yesterday to say that my (wife's) Roomster Scout had arrived with them and to confirm that I would collect it, as hoped for, this coming Saturday. I'm not fussed about waiting for the '58 plate, just glad to be getting our new car, particularly as my dealer has kindly loaned us a Roomster for the past three weeks, which I feel obliged to give back to them.

Hopefully anyone else who has been waiting for their car, will not be waiting much longer. ;)

Well, back in the UK and the 4x4 is at the dealers. All ready to go, just the final polish and ready for me this afternoon.

:woohoo::woohoo:Nice one mate, mine will be ready a week on monday, decided to wait for a 58 reg, itching to drive it now:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:!

Mrs is gutted though because my current insurer won't cover her, on the Octy, being under 25. Will have to change insurer on the 2nd.

Yup, exactly the same. My '58 plate L&K is sitting at the dealers, i'm travelling the happy 200 miles to pick it up on monday week!

From the posts so far, the hail storm hasn't been an issue at all.

Glorious!!

Well, mine is now sitting on the drive. Was a bit worried, as I have been driving a Seat Ibiza 1.9Tdi in France for the last fortnight. 'Orrible little beast, was a little worried that I had the memories of the Octy wrong! No worries though! Beautifully presented by Preston Motors, even fitted the doggie proof boot liner. Filled her up and had a pootle up the motorway, got the fuel consumption up from 26 to 48mpg, OK for a start!! I may have modest ears, but I love the sound system. Oh! and they made me a number plate for the trailer FOC, while I was there!

Will post some pictures later.
