Just had a very pleasant scrapyard experience

Well, I am always a little wary of those "breaking" auctions you see on Ebay, but I was after such a small part that I figured it would be worth trying to contact one.

Emailed one on there yesterday whilst at college, who seemed to be breaking about 3 fabias at least. Offered £5 on paypal if they'd send me the bit I wanted (the clip the drivers sunvisor clips in to). I paypal'd, they sent, arrived this morning, just fitted it in 30 seconds. Job done. :)

£5 was perhaps more than the part was new, but I just couldn't be bothered to mess around. So, big shout out to motorsinmotion who break cars on Ebay. Dealt with my little need pretty well.

They seem to be ok. I got the leather for my A4 from them.

What's wrong with getting in there yourself?! Scrap yards aren't what they used to be. I remember spending many a saturday morning at the scrappy being hoiked up high into a car with a screwdriver to remove anything from the interior that may be of use. :D

For something bigger I agree. I know of 2 fabias being broken about 20 miles from me - I have most of the interior out of one of them. They may not even be there now though. In this case, the cost of driving there and back negated the little premium I paid to have it posted to me.

Used to love scrapyards.you can always find what you want and its fun getting the parts off yourself.

Trouble is it's all too commercial now and they have to comply with H&S these days so I think for the main climbing in and out of wrecks yourself is gone.

You we're done mate! I bought one from the dealers for mine - £1.86 inc VAT.

Was worth it in the diesel I would have used driving to the dealer! :P :D
