Vrs versus Sport

Featured Replies

I'm guessing that the sport is ~150bhp which is 50 bhp down on the VRS, not to mention the torque defecit!

I've got an FR TFSI Leon (same as VRS), and Civic Type R is only similar performance normally aspirated car (in hot hatch realm) that gets close and that has 200 bhp!

Sport looks a great motor but unless Victor Meldrew is driving the VRS, no comparison.....

I don't think anyone is claiming a particular model is better than another etc but what started this was smstext stating 'it can keep up with vrs's 1st to 3rd' in reference to his 2.0 FSI. This is blatently untrue

I was stating what we had observed after leaving a meet, tom vrs and apd and myself were going through newbury on the old a34 (which if anyone knows you get up to the limit and its time to break between each roundabout). It might be down to traction that was the reason, but once we got to around 3k revs it was at this point the true power of the vrs was shown and it would carry on with power up the range where mine would start to lose the power.

Oh and before i forget tom was ahead of apd, so again 2 similar cars performing different might just point to the driver and the way its driven

Sharkrider has commented on how little there is between a 2.0 sport and a vrs in a police report he read where the police assess the cars, i dont know if this report is on the net or if sharkrider could post the report here.

But all in all against an aston martin the vrs is way slooooooow!!!;):D

ah tis true, was in a sandwich between a Bentley Conti & Aston DB9 on Saturday - felt quite inferior!

Yeah, good comparison

Yeah, VW managed to engineer the TSFI unit at considerable cost to have another 50bhp and no performance difference over the FSI unit...

There next project I hear is to engineer the Bugatti Veyron to have the same power output a Fabia 1.2 :rofl2:

For a minute there I thought you said that the 2.0 FSI Sport could keep up with the 2.0 TFSI vRS from 1st to 3rd..............

................................................. oh, you did! :o:rolleyes:

Didn't realise the Sport was such a rare model. There's a black one knocking about at work, think it's a personal car and not a fleet one.

;)

s*** stirrer

One has to keep up appearances :D:rofl:

Saw a black one and a red one today, both looked quite nice to be fair! :o

Actually saw a black one and a red one today, both looked quited nice to be fair! :o

Did they both keep up with you in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear?

Very good that pic of my spoiler

Im just tweaking my Sport tho, not copying a vRS...honest :D:D:D

I've always liked the look of the Sport, however I think the way to go if you wanted to get a Sport remotely close to a standard VRS in terms of performance would be via the remapped 2.0TDI DSG route - now that would be a nice 'sleeper'

It's like them Civic Type S Sport's you always see with the huge wheels and the JDM 12" exhaust trying to be a Type R.

Save up, and buy the car you really want FFS

I haven't seen a 0 - 60 time of 5.9 and I'm not sure if Steve's Revo'd car was capable of that.

LOL damn internet tv in the hotel room! i meant 6.9 and have now edited it!:D

Might as well just buy the diesel vRS at that point though... :)

:iagree:

I could easily have put 18" Zeniths on, front bumper and a VRS badge, and it would have looked virtually identical, but its daft.

I just want to tastefully modify my Sport, surely thats OK

Remember guys, there are other models in the range, other than the VRS :P

Anyway,

We seem to have moved on from performance related comments, to looks related ones now

Face it you all want a remapped PD105 in elegance or L&K trim :P

Might as well just buy the diesel vRS at that point though... :)

Duckk it though, if you're spending that much money then save on servicing for a larger fuel bill and get something with a nice engine note, handles well from stock and sounds great on overrun.

Say an ST in anything but ASBO orange.

Hey, don't start on the diesels too, I like my diesel VRS, and anyway a remap would see it up witha petrol...:D

 Nothing wrong with a dirty diesel if that's what you want/need... A remap will never ever make it sound as good..:P and once you remap the petrol as well it'll be even further ahead :P:D and you'll of spent less.

So does the 2.0FSI in the sport sound as bad as the 2.0FSI in the VW Eos? As I heard one and could of sworn it was a diesel till I saw the badge on the back.:eek:

I like it dirty, it means I pay less company car tax to the taxman:thumbup:

Nearly got me I was going to go on but i'll shut up here.
