optimax program

Featured Replies

to all you tecsperts out there

can someone explain what the optimax program is exactly :?:

APR chip in mine and other's cars is modular ie. different modes can be added to it.

standard chipped programme is optimised to run on normal 95RON unleaded.

optimax or 98 RON programme to be precise is optimised for 98RON fuel and above, giving 15bhp gains over the standard programme.

with apr, one can switch between standard, chipped, and optimax programmes. there are other modules available eg. valet mode - where you can put your car into this mode and it cannot be revved over 4000!!

useful toys really......

hmmm........very interesting

Is the switching between programmes run through a drive by wire cruise control stalk? I take it that each programme is an extra to the original chip cost with the cruise control on top. Nice features though, did you have it done locally and was it expensive?...........sorry for all the questions i used be a policeman in a former life, if you wish you could have a solicitor present before you answer any questions :)

thanks for the reply, cheers mate!

correct in your assumptions des.

had it done, and the milltek, at awesome gti in warrington. very knowledgeable lot and great service.

i know this is really pathetic, but i honestly can't remember how much it cost. i think it was about

Single program chip

If the optimax fuel is available locally I would always recommend this program, it is worth the extra fuel cost [/quote:498eb518cc]

absolutely agree.

after i had the program installed, the difference between that and 95 programme was [i:498eb518cc]easy[/i:498eb518cc] to notice, especially at motorway speeds.

APR programs for artists by Colin.

After getting your vehicle chipped find the nearest NSL sign and hoof it. The following is a rough artistic impresion of your face.

95 Ron Pgm

98 Ron (Optimax) Pgm

When you get home and you see:  you realise that it would of been better to discuss the chipping first.

If you don;t take the APR Optimax programme, does putting Optimax fuel in make any difference?

Also, for Ian I guess, does the Jabba chip run on Optimax only or is it switchable like the APR program.

And one for RevoRichard - how does Optimax figure here? SPS3 only?

Geting closer to an Skud every day! Alex.

Mine is in "one" mode in as far as it's a permanent remap.

It's set up for optimax as thats what I use, it can be run on lesser fuel but if I have to use super or "normal" then I take it steady until I find optimax - this has only been once or twice since I had it done.

Jabba will set it based on what you use most.

Just for information

I have the Jabba chip

It has been used on both 95 and 97/98 ron fuels

Works well with all although you can notice a slight improvement in the urge with the 98.

It has not been detected by the VAG tool in any shape or form on a number of occassions.

In fact the dealer was quite rightly more wary of the non standard Head unit as i did have the K wire attached. That has now been removed to make my dealer happy, so he doesnt have to remove and unplug the radio each time.

also it has not made any difference when changing the coilpacks - 2 so far

Hope that helps

Karl

My dealer know about the chip - the mechanic that first drove it expecting 150bhp and finding 220bhp was pleasantly surprised

Thankfully, my dealer has no problems with mods, although the service manager seems to keep needing to do "road tests" with it (Gary, does a new screen really [i:6166ca61ed]need[/i:6166ca61ed] a road test? )
