oi! leave my big sis alone!

hmmm... on second thoughts.... carry on!

I'm 22 and have a 1.4 16v 100bhp model. Have loved every minute of owning it. I had the same with mates at work taking the preverbial until they went for a ride in it after getting it. Now there are no bad words said against it! I just love suprising people with it too. Quicker than most people think

Well, it was returned this morning, I pick mine up tonight.

On the whole, really nice to drive, missing a few toys, but had ASR and ABS, and if fluid then could be driven swiftly.

I even recall overtaking, twice! :D

Really sweet little car - the RS will be a hoot, if I ever buy a second car it will be very high on my list.

(looking forward to picking mine up tho - looked in the workshop this morning and it's sat there with the interior stripped out - very WRC - tempted to just bolt in a seat and take it :D)

Talking about ASR, anyone noticed it actually having an effect on the drive of the car? I read that it was supposed to control wheelspin, but I can get the same spin from a standing start with or without it on, all it seems to do is make the little yellow triangle light on the dashboard flash a little... I normally drive with it off, mainly because the dash light distracts me a little, not that it actually seems to do anything..

Even with it on, and it flashing to indicate it was in use, I could get a little "chirp" from the tyres accelerating out of a junction.

Other than that it didn't seem to activate much, so not much point in turning it off.

I'm spoilt tho, love my ESP too much.

I don't know, miss the forums for a couple of days and everyone starts picking on me !

Dev, I am very happy to own an RS (especially a yellow one, as this is undoubtedly the best colour) but I do seem to be in a bit of a minority ! Even happier to be driving it and beating "boy-racers" although sometimes I do chicken out - was beaten by a souped up Sierra the other day - oh the shame of it. (mind you he was doing about 110 on a dual carriageway)

AS you called me a lady I'm prepared to overlook your comments on this occasion .... KentStu though I'm a bit miffed with you as by your reckoning I'm an older driver !

*Counts to 10 and resists the urge to make any comment*

Want a race home tonight?

Ok, you're on. What time are you leaving ?

That would make it far too easy.... :-D

Its great this  - I make one small comment about most of the drivers in Canterbury being over 35 and I get loads of irate fellow thirtysomethings getting all upset :) .

My reason for selecting 35 as "the age" for my comment was:

1) Devonutopia is born in 1979. When I was that young I remember thinking that anything over 30 was past it.

2) I couldn't use 30 as the limit (as above) because I am 32 so arbitrarily raised the level to suit me!! :D

Maybe we should have a poll of where a suitable cut off point may be for being considered "older". I suspect that the older you are the higher this figure will be !

27 ;)

(till august, then we can lift it please :D)

27?! I'm not waiting that long to be old! :p

Mind you, being young isn't all it's cracked up to...grumble insurance mumble van hire grrr... :(

Rob.

27?! That's far too low, young 'un!

30 is safe for me for another 18 months... (and don't I feel old now having typed that??)

I think 30 is about the threshold for me, although its only 5 1/2 years until I get there too... :P Anyway, a man is just a grown-up child so we'll always be young at heart.

Speaking as someone who is nearly 35 (2 weeks away) and who acts like a 20 year old,

I was always told that if you want to buy a proper duffers car then it's a Honda for you my boy!! (Oooh - on come the Type R Owners)

Personally the people who often try it on with me in my RS, tend to be 50 year old duffers in BMW's and Mercs, unfortunately for them by the time that they push down their clutch or engage their hopelessly expensive fly-by-wire tiptronic, super sport laser guided accelerator, i'm usually just going over the horizon..........ahh the look on their faces when we reach the next set of lights.

The i'll show you sonny routine, it's only a poxy Skoda, trick unfortunately has not worked AGAIN!!!

As the stuck up bloke next to me said at the garage the other day, filling up his Mercedes C-Class Sport, "Oh they are supposed to be okish on the speed aren't they" Yeh I said "leave anything up to an AMG standing, great really and I spent about 10k less than you mate, I think you've been had!! Ha Ha Ha

Born in '54 - but then I have got a L&K TDi!!

In the village were I live i see 6 Skoda's within a minute of leaving my front door most mornings :-

quite often see the following

Octavia RS

Octavia 2.0SLX

Fabia 1.4 16v

Felicia 1.3 LXI combi

Rapid 136 Turbo

Rapid 136

quite a high percentage in this part of the world there even another Briskoda owner with a chipped 1.8SLX 20v about 13 miles away:D Been a Skoda owner for 21 years so im 21 and a bit

It's amazing how many people seem to get p**sed off when a Skoda goes past them (especially a TDi!!). Had a bit of a duel with a geek in a Fiesta Si this morning - you know the type, leans forward in his seat to make it go quicker etc. etc.

Brings a smile to my face once in a while :D

Brighton seems to have a huge number of Octys as taxis

I see quite a few Fabias and Octavias round my way. I think the proportion seems to go up in rural/semi-rural areas. Not many L&K's though.

Howard

(officially qualified as old at 35?????? - never!!)

I know the SDI is not the nippiest of cars, but my 02 Comfort Estate will easily do 110 (in Germany) and gives me an average of 66.5 mpg. It also pulls a 2 berth caravan with ease.
