Hi guys,

Starting put Superb II on wait list with the factory for stock.

We can't decide if we should be ordering mostly DSG or manual.

So far I've ordered:-

  • 2.0TDi CR DSG Elegance (Steel Grey with Black Leather with sunset glass/park assist/floor mats)
  • 2.0TDi PD SE (Mocha Brown with Black Leather with sunset/floor mats)

Anyway, I'd like the feedback from this forum since you'll be the people buying this car and I'll hopefully be one of the guys supplying them.

If you could make a decision on my poll and also if you could also post why you would prefer to buy DSG/Manual.

Thank you.

For the bracket the car is in, looking at what is normally fitted to the Passat I would say the diesel DSG would be a good bet.

Brown ?

are the 70s back ?

That's what my boss said after giving me a weird look. Surely it's not that bad? I didn't see one at Millbrook so I looked on Skoda.de and it looks alright in the Superb much better than Silver.

I can still change the colour, what colour would you choose for an SE?

Found a picture of the colour.

Brown is the shnizzle

Is that "rap star" for looks like ****?

The brown is a great colour, if/when I change mine I would get the brown!

For me, it's going to be 2.0TDI 170 DSG (with paddles). I think the paddles are an important addition, and wouldn't consider a car without them.

I'm currently driving a Octavia L+K with DSG, and really, really miss the paddles (having just come from an Eos with DSG).

As for colours, it would either be anthracite grey or platin grey.

Bagpuss.

I think TDi DSG will be favourite too.

Perhaps the 1.8 petrol as well.

Forgot to mention I ordered the Elegance with paddles.

is it the same brown as in the German advert here ?

UK page doesn't seem to have colours or trim levels for the new Superb yet (will Skoda .co.uk ever be on the pulse ?)

I'd have one in what the Germans call Pazifik Blau

Think that's Brunello Red in that video.

There was a Pacific Blue one at Millbrook and it looked smart indeed.

Perhaps the 1.8 petrol as well.

Personally I think 1.8 TFSI variant on a car of that size will end up stuck on a forecourt and be about as popular as the Yellow Octavia vRS was at Fareham! Unless there is a further dramatic rise in the difference betwen petrol and diesel then the oil burner is the only variant I'd consider having as a 'stock' car, a mixture of DSG and manual and all in dark metalic colours. :)

I was suprised by the 1.8TSi myself and the almost 40mpg combined seems like it might sell reasonably well if people are doing low mileage.

For this level / size of car I can't see the petrol-powered 1.8 being attractive, even with low-mileage as I believe the diesels' residuals will still be strong, despite the rising cost of the fuel.

I think torque is key in this size / class of car. For effortless cruising you prob need the diesel, rather than thrashing a petrol like in a hot hatch to get similar performance.

Manual just 'cos I don't trust the DSG flappy paddle stuff. Prefer to physically be in a gear rather than go for the indicators and get 1st gear and blow the engine.

Diesel prices should drop anyway, but I would expect the taxi drivers to prefer manual rather than dsg, and it's probably where a lot will end up in 4 years time as limo's / airport cars....

Dark colour would be best, so deep blue or dark grey metallics for resale potential (not convinced by brown, and didn't like the red ones on the Tour de France

My spec would have to be Silver DSG Diesel in mid spec, SE? with 17's and factory tints and a sunroof.

Money no object, Top spec, DSG TDi again in Burgundy Metallic, roof and tints.

the grey gun metal one looks ace, didnt like the green colour of the one we saw today at newbury.

Think Diesel DSG with flappy paddles, in Elegance spec in a dark metallic.

I think you need to order a white one too - white is the new brown, dont you know ? ;)

I chose the Diesel DSGas that is what I bought for the Octy estate, will wait for the Superb estate and do the same but with the 170CRD.

And it'll look even more like an Airport taxi - if your airport taxi's are white....

Hmm not sure on white...

Took me long enough to order an Octavia vRS in Candy White, and when I did I ordered a DSG Estate with cruise, xenons, rear park, sunset glass, maxi-dot, rain sensing wipers, light assist, auto-dimming mirror. Someone is bound to want it!

Thanks for all your replies everyone, seems like the divide between diesel DSG/manual is pretty small. Everyone here seems to think that we'll never sell a manual I reckon we'll equal amounts of manual to auto.

I don't like that the diesel dsgs come with the old style, wet 6 speed dsg, at least for the time being. So I'd go for manual.

If the manual dervs are PD engines and the DSG the CR engines I wouldn't get any more than 1 manual in.

People will wan the new engine and in a car that size I can't imagine that many petrol engines selling these days either.
