Bit dissapointed by allards service.

Noticed that the Black Fabias EGR was leaking a little a few weeks ago so instead of forking out for a new one thought that the EGR delete pipe would be a cheaper option.

Spoke to my local friendly tuner who confirmed they could map the CEL out so decided to go ahead.

Ordered the part from allard on Monday and whilst on the phone asked if it would be with me for Friday as I had a session booked in on Saturday for some works, was told that they had no pipes in stock but they were making them up that day and the latest I would have it was Thursday, All good I thought.

Thursday came and no pipe arrived, no panic, still a day to go so i thought I'd give them a bell just to check it had been sent.

No, they had not been made up, and despite knowing my situation and my mobile number never even had the common courtesy to give me a call and let me know.

"We will be making them up today"

That's what they told me on Monday so never held up much hope.

Was offered to have it sent out for Saturday delivery, I explained I would be at the tuners for 7:45 Saturday morning so it probably wouldn't do much good but if it came in early enough possibly SWMBO could bring it through to me.

Allard then said "you don't need to get a tuner to fit it, its easy enough to do yourself" I must admit I got a bit pompous at this point and told them I'm more than competent to fit any item to a car being a mech eng however I wasn't a mapper and will not drive around with a CEL on.

The parcel still didn't arrive on Saturday, or Monday, but arrived Today, alot of bloody good that was. To top it off having a look at the pipe and the quality is not what I expected, I really should have went for the DieselGeek billet version.

Still, you live and learn.

Been there done it and got the teeshirt

Shame really as you can't beat good customer service!

What's the point in taking work on if you can't deliver

Like you say though live and learn.

Been a few complaints over on SCN recently about Allards after sales service.

It's a shame as at one time they were spot on.

I hear they're restructuring a little. I believe our own Awesome GTI will be a fitting person for their turbos, as they wish to get out the market of fitting performance bits and concentrate on making them instead.

I'm going to contact them asap myself - hope everything will be ok. :)

I hear you Derek, I'm frustrated with them as well, over that same product as well as their aftersales.

The fitting of the OEM pipe over the end of the EGR bypass just isn't good enough and hasn't been thought about properly IMO. The jubilee clip supplied is also sub-standard for the job. I had to re-fix this connection for the 3rd time on Friday evening after the OEM pipe disconnected from the Allard pipe.

I've said to them that an aftermarket silicon pipe should be supplied with the kit so that everything fits properly and I'm awaiting their response. Don't think it's fit for purpose at the moment, but I'm not holding my breath for a resolution. Almost feel like reverting to standard

Didn't know DieselGeek offered something similar; wish I'd known that before!

Steve

I had a similar problem with them, huge delay in getting it sent out despite repeated phone calls. Put this down to being a one off perhaps and used them again for a replacement turbo. At least they delivered that quickly, still took a bit of chasing up though.

When I was using a "standard" bend with the EGR pipe, I cut off the metal clip on the end and just used a massive clip I supplied myself to attach the material of the bend to the EGR pipe. It never moved, but I can see why trying to use the clip as stock would not work.

I shoved a golf tee in the vaccuum hose coming into the top of the EGR as per a few threads on SCN apparantly this stops it functioning.

I have noticed smoother running around town and better pull.

No cel light yet done 100 miles.

I was thinking of just uprating the jubilee with one of those Mikalor ones like you J, but Skudmissile tried that and it still came off

What pipe did you replace that section with?

Steve
