Me too babs!

Just for the record... I didn't ask people what they thought of the idea, I knew that already, I asked where I could get an engine...

This is the VW scene you're venturing into, and they value things waaaaay too much! :)

And it's a brilliant idea!

All the best Duggie, been there, done that and loved it :)

Just to let you see guys, this is the fabia that the engine is going into, some may have seen it, it'll be new for others!

How many times to I have to say no to an Ibiza? EVEN A CUPRA!

-Duggie.

Don't even listen to anyone who will tell you to get another car. It's obvious you can buy more for the money if you played it straight but you have the dream and your going for it so well done for that!

You will also end up with something really reasonably unique that you have had a fair hand in creating...that is where the money goes and thats what makes the difference. If it wasn't for people like you we would all be driving silver Astras.

Best of luck!

Go for it Duggie! This will be amazing when it's all said and done

One thing though, when it's done I hoep you come along to a meet so we can all see this BEAST! :D

Putting the vRS bumpers on now? :P

Weren't you the chap saying you couldn’t afford to keep motoring, and now you're putting £5k into a Fabia?

You sure you can keep affording to motor, post-conversion?

if you're going to do it,why not go for a more powerful engine 2.0 gti turbo in for a penny in for a pound

Yea, I was, then I got a call from an insurance (National Accident Helpline) company saying that if I made a claim about being involved in a car crash I could get a fair amount. The car crash was a 3 times rollover in a Pug 205, my back hasn't been the same since, I was actually off work for 3 months, I was a passenger and the driver was going far too fast.

So... that's £10,000 aparrently. Of course, I'm waiting for the claim to come through but if it's that much, the comversion is going ahead.

Go for it!

I plan to do something similar to another fabia in the long run. But I will be ensuring I go 4wd as I want to make something ultra fast off the mark. The mongrel will do me for max fwd power. :)

If I got some money out my lottery syndicate, I would be doing something with a 2.7 biturbo engine from Audi.

Duggie,

I'll keep checking our customers for 1.8T engines.

There's a few Audi ones kicking about (AUM engine codes) but they're pricey.

Will keep you posted.

Best of luck with the conversion, if i had the spare time and a spare Fabia, i would love to do this kinda thing.

:)

id say go for it chap, yes u can buy a nice golf 1.8 turbo with recaro seats for anything between £3k to 5k but its different and unique, id like to see some video's of how it shifts!

then take a look at video's of ibiza cupra's as it'll be identicle.

Always there to raise someones spirits huh Bengie :D:rolleyes:

just saying like, i have nothing against being different or something special and would love a real project of my own but i fail to see the point in spending 6-7k(on top of whats already been done) on a car worth 1k or so to turn it into what is readily available as an actual factory made car for 5k(newer one or 3k for older shape) upwards and still have the original car to keep/sell/destroy.

now something like ross and his golf is completely different as nothing like it was ever made and i know what he paid for it.

tbh the only saving grace for jason in my eyes is that he did the work with a friend rather than paying a company to do it.

I am well up for trying to make a 4.8L V8 AWD saxo or something stupid with my mates but i wouldn't pay the earth for someone to make one for me.

what this is similar to in ym mind is buying a 1.6 octavia then fitting the alloys/interior/engine/transmission from a vRS and its costing you 8 grand or something when you cna just go and buy one for half that.

But the point is, you cannot buy a Fabia 1.8T, surely?

Thanks Babs... nice to know someone gets it... As I said though, this thread was not discussing the idea! I know what people think... i mean I have parents for christ's sake! Some of you will think "w**ker, more money than sense" but others will get it. I'm unlikely to have this type of disposable income again ever in my life... so i'll live my dream now, rather than being dissapointed in 10/20 years time... like it or lump it guys.

oh if you want to do it then fair enough and i am willing to help in any way i can seeing as i'm local but its definitly not something i'd do myself.

good luck Duggie!:)

a 1.8t fabia has always been a future project! i may have got there one day if i hadnt of written my car off! :P

maybe in me next car

Firstly GOOD LUCK mate.

Secondly:

We have currently got a ARZ 1.8 20v Turbo type golf engine & box in stock at the moment. (still in the car)

As far as I can remember the engine and running gear have not been touched therefore we should still have everything available that you need.
