Windows not close on one touch locking.

Featured Replies

Just thought today as i have never tried it before. Both front windows wer open.I parked up got out and pressed and held the lock button on my remote and the car locked but windows did not close:thumbdwn:

Does this feature not apply to the Ambiente model?

Do your one touch windows work? i.e when you flick the window switch once do the windows go up.

Yes all work ok.I just thought i would try the locking the car and see if the windows closed too,but nope.

Definitely works on the ambiente model! Our pool car hasn't got maxidot and is straight forward. And that works fine on all windows.

Does it work when you lockand hold the key in the door?

What your User's Manual book says?

After doors get locked you have to keep the button pressed. Do you have a simple key with two buttons or "box" remote with three buttons and key blade opening?

Yes 3 button key.

The windows on mine don't start to close or open until the button has been left pressed for 2-3 seconds...

Maybe i did not hold it down long enough.

Yes, try that and let us know

My Elegance closes or opens when the key is held down for several seconds, however when I am inside and try to close the windows by pressing the normal comtrols, the windows will only close whilst I hold the switch down. As soon as I let go they stop. Depressing the switch for a couple of seconds to open, and they all open continuously as I would expect. Why won't it do the same to close?

It's explained in your user's manuals. If "Stop Memory" is not ok, they will not work fine.

So, every window's switch has two degrees either way. When you press it a little, it goes to first degree and it is opening the window untill you release the button. If you press it more, straight to second degree, that you can feel when pressing, it will use auto-opening mode. The same for closing.

Now, if memory is not ok, do this:

- Open window whole the way using (pressing the switch to) the first degree (not auto)

- When window stops in open position, release the switch

- Press the switch again towards opening but press it fully, so it reaches second degree

- Hold it like that for 4-5 seconds

- Now close the window using first degree only for closing (I mean "lift" the switch) and hold the switch untill window is fully closed

- Release the switch

- "Lift" the switch again but fully to a second degree

- Hold it like that for 4-5 seconds

- Memory is now renewed

Just tried locking and holding button for windows to close and it works but i didn,t know you have to hold button still while windows go to fully closed.I thought they were auto up.But never mind at least they work ok:thumbup:

This way you can leave them open a little if needed...

I've changed that on mine, via VagCom. Now I have to hold the button untill they start closing. Then I can release the button and they will close by themselves.

Now I have reset them according to Bosnjo's advice, all windows behave as normal. Thanks for the quick fix.

Just as you think you know everything you discover something new!

Arrived at destination, switched off engine, removed the key, heard the clunk as the doors unlocked. Then heard a click and all the windows opened! Bugger! What's gone wrong here?

Then noticed swmbo rummaging in her handbag with it resting on the centre console, pushing down the unlock button.

So come on, admit it! Who knew that you could open and close the windows by pressing and holding the lock/unlock switch on the centre console?

Doesn't do that on mine. Will try it being locked then holding the button down. Maybe it's some sort of panic feature.

Glad all is fine now.

I think it only works with engine off and key out of ignition so not much good as panic feature really:D

:rolleyes::rolleyes:Hmmm... waiting at traffic lights and someone is trying to hijack my car... engine off... key out... now I can lock the doors and shut the windows.:rolleyes:

See what I mean? :D

In fact the logic is the wrong way round! Much more useful if the windows closed when you pressed the internal switch to UNLOCK the doors so you could close all the windows before you get out of the car. Instead you have first to lock all the doors to close the windows while 3 passengers (who are the a$$holes who left the windows open in the first place) are trying to rip off the door handles cos after a year they still can't remember to pull twice:mad:

Come to think of it those of you with kids should be careful cos I assume it also works the sunroof. I remember some time ago a little kid was almost decapitated standing on centre console of a parked Citroen Xantia wth head out of sunroof - he stood on the switch for the sunroof! In that case parents had left him in the car with the radio on while they went in to shop. With the Octy it works with the key out!:eek: Must be time limited surely! I shall have a play.

I personally think the octi is well configured. One touch up/down all around with the key in. Pull out the key, you have only one touch down, and the windows still roll up, in case you want to leave them open for an inch to ventilate the interior. Pulling out the key also unlocks the doors for everybody to get out, so I don't understand what you're saying about ripping the interior handles off. Better train your passengers not to get off with the engine running, which they shouldn't do anyway.

As for the decapitation, try jamming your hand in the window and rolling it up. You'll see it will squeeze your hand a bit, then go down about half way. I accidentally caught my fingers in the window and I hardly felt it.

Oh, and once out of the car you can still use the key to raise or lower the windows without getting back in and putting on the ignition.

Ok, ignore the above, my girlfriend proved me wrong today. I left her waiting in the car, windows half way down, and came back to find her with the windows rolled up. Odd, as the key was with me.

I won't beat around the bush. Engine off, windows not up. Hold lock on the center console and 2-3 secs after locking the doors it starts rolling the windows up, so it is a panic sort of feature. Nice.

One more thing I found is that if you move to unlock after the windows started going up you can also lower them, and the doors are unlocked. Cool.

I like this.
