Dont ignore the MK2 Fiesta XR2, quite popular in the stock hatch racing series and **** cheap to repair and tune.

As with all of these though watch for the old tin worm.

MK2 Ibiza's are quite good fun aswell.

Cheers Ross forgot about the old Mk2 fiesta XR2 I always fancied one of them

What are the XR2i's like?

AX GT is also one to consider, along with 5 GT Turbo or Uno Turbo. How about Rover Metro? Or even an Astra 16V?

Definitely consider the Metro GTi 1.4 16v. With a few simple and cheap engine tweaks you could pull 125bhp out of it, and stripped out the car weighs about the same as an empty condom wrapper.

And they handle well even on standard mushy factory fit suspension :D

I think everyone will know my choice. PUGGY 205 gti

We have a new addition in the hortonracing stable (3 in total now). This one however has the 1.9 16v MI-16 engine in it (170bhp out the bag) and is stripped out like the 2 rallycross cars. Should be on track soon as a dedicated trackcar.

p.s we picked up the mi16 for

sihorton your new addition will fly when completed because a friend of mine did the same thing to a 205 and it accelerated very quickly and the same lad used to have a cirtoen bx 16v with a gearbox off a 1.6 or a diesel ? i think it was and that was a scary machine and although it was hideous to look at it made quite a few people look silly in traffic light grand prixs because the gearing was alot lower and 1st and 2nd gear where great but i think the gearbox is the cars downfall because his used to blow the diffs quite regualy, should be great fun while it lasts though

Don't bother with anything turbo, too expensive to repair when it goes bang !!

Fiestas are certainly worth a look as all the motorsport stuff is damn cheap. Rollcages etc can probably all be found second hand for silly money.

106 rallye mk1 :D

A ford capri 2.8i or a 3.0.

Nice ... or maybe an old sierra xr4i

MAtes dad has a single seater powered by a GSXR 1100 bike engine. Only does about a ton top end but gets there scarily quick.

My m8s got a nice westfield powered by a 900cc honda fireblade engine... that's fairly awesome..... it was about

Gentlemen,

My local mechanic (used to fix my old car) has told me he has a Ford Fiesta XR2 (with tasteful RS style body kit), which he has worked on (and owned once) for

Cheers for all the suggestions so far guys. The help is much appreciated.

Looks like I need to spend some time on the autotrader site now. See how much bang for my buck I can get

How about an older 325 BMW. Rear wheel drive is the way forward on track !!! Strip it out to loose some of the weight and it would be quite quick and a lot of fun.

What is your mate with the Megablade called ?

I am the moderator of the Bike Engined Cars Yahoo group so if he is on there I may know him.

Found out last night he is selling this at the end of the season and also getting rid of his Jag as he has ordered a 911 GT3 RS.

Who says plumbers don't make any money?
