VRS Tyres

Featured Replies

Right i have done a bit of searching, I currently have Toyo Proxes T1R's on standard VRS wheels 205/45/R16 i need to replace the front two ASAP! But was wondering what everyone else runs/likes? I have seen people running the Proxes with different profiles cant remember if it was 225 of 195! Also best places to buy! Any help would be much appreciated.

I have just bought four new Toyo T1R's from blackcircles. Still on 205/45 but did think about trying 205/50's.

Cant really go 50's as i think ill catch the car is pretty low. But wondering if i can save some money by going a smaller or larger width?

Anyone have any ideas?

I think you mean 215's

215's have anyone got these fitted?

I think you'll find a few people on here that run them.

Do a search for 215/40/17's or 16's and you'll find plenty of threads and opinions

I've just looked at me fronts this morning and found the inside of my tread is completely worn!! Whoops. So I'll need some tyres asap.

I'm looking to spend about £160 incl. VAT for the front two. What is everyone's recommendation? Also, my uncle-in-law says the tyres I have now have a special lip to protect my alloys?? Is this true? If so I'll want that again because I park in the street for work and can catch the curb occasionally!!

the toyos i have are great, and camskill do them (2 tyres delievered) for 124.60 thats the 205/45/16 but im wondering if anyone has use the 215/40/16? As there abit cheaper again?

im runny 215 40 r17 falkens on Octavia wheels and I think there better then the T1R's I had on the standard wheels, A lot less noisey when pushing round the round about in MK

So going 215 wide doesnt create a problem? Can anyone shed some light on this? My car is on its bump i dont mind rolling the arches but worried there will be a big difference with 215/40's and 205/45's is there anything i can use to work out the difference?

It's all very well spending a fair amount of money on the front tyres, but find out what's making them wear unevenly first :)

I've just put a pair of Khumo KU30's (I think that's the right name) on the front. Have to say I am less than impressed. Fuel economy seems to ahve dropped (No numbers to back this up), and also less grip. Previously I was running Uniroyal Rainsports and would reccomend them again. They don't last too long, but they really are great in the wet.

Ever tried these?

Tyres 40% Cheaper than leading tyres depots, free mobile tyre fitting

I did for the last set and they were great, came out to my work to fit them.

I am currently running the toyo T1R they are very grippy but as said by phil very noisy the standard conti sports are rearly good for grip but wear quite quick

Khumo are poo sorry mate and i do agree with the uniroyal i ran them over the winter and i loved them they were as good the wet as the dry which is good with lots of roundabouts here :)

Conti's dont wear quick at all.

There a harder compound, if anything the toyo's will wear quicker as there quite soft

My conti only lasted me bout 5-6k miles i havent rearly had the toyo long enought to compare

whats the ratings on the side wall?

ther should be a Traction rating, weare rating and Operating Temp.

I run 215/40s with no problems at all. They are cheaper too!

I thought the Contis were crap. and they didn't last long. The Toyos don't wear to badly. The rears last for ages but the fronts wear out quicker (10k ish miles), but that is the price of having a fwd car with lots of torque.

Those ratings are entirely subjective to the manufacturer, though. So there's no guarantee a 240-rated tyre from one manufacturer would last longer than a 180-rated tyre from another.

As far as what's good, I loved the P Zero Neros I had on (once they'd bedded-in!), but am also satisfied with the Falken 912s I have had to buy due to killing the Pirellis far sooner than expected! :(

I have had Proxeses too, and while I liked the grip, I found them a bit stodgy, and bad for wearing on the shoulders on top of the noise already mentioned. Plus I'd gone off the >>>>>>>>>>> tread pattern, which is perhaps an oldd reason to change tyres, but something that bugged me all the same. The Michelins it came with were pretty dire IMO...

I got Sumo Firenza ST-08 and they fantastic for the money great grip.

Yeah, they worked out £25 cheaper for the pair......... I should have spent the extra!

I too am looking at new tyers but I think I might save the cash and upgrade the occy vRS 17"s as (call me blind) but I'm seeing 17's cheaper than 16s....

most things are subject to manufacturers, and yes rubber compounds are hard to get consistant, but it gives you a good idea.

I got the 512's on my 17" (the 912s I have been told are the replacements for the 512's) think there no diffrent then the T1R's

I have a liking of F1's but again far too soft.
