Phils - Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Thanks for the Thing on the FREEDON membership, I am not really wanting to pay a membership as i already run my own club with mates and that costs £££ but thanks for clearing that up.

Yes I preped and sprayed the grill and fog surrounds myself.

1. Removed them from the car,

2. Sanded them down with 180 and then again with 320 wet and dry.

3. 4 coats of primer leaving 30 mins for each coat to dry. Left them to dry over night after the last coat.

4. I applied 3 coats of Halfords Skoda Black magic, alloying 30 mins to dry between each coat.

4 left to dry for 1 hour and then applied 3 coats of clear lacer allowing 30 mins between each coat.

Cheers for the info Phil. Any chance of a close-up pic of just one of the surrounds?

Steve

Im in Leighton Buzzard but do all the photos for the total-vag boys, Can also print them big too! If people were interested!

Ill get some dates together for when i can do it, and we can arrange something. There is some great locations around Milton Keynes.

Yea NP ill do one when I get home.

As for the Sump, mine realy isn't that low, I have never hit the under tray let alone the sump. I always look ahead when i drive. :)

The photoshoot sounds like a good idea. Would be nice to get some good pics with other cars.

Can you let me know where you can get the round badges?

you mean the VRS ones? there is seller on ebay doing a load of them at the moment.

Thanks for all the comments guys it is much appriciated. :)

If you have wrecked your undertray your sump will be next! there is nothing inbetween them! My undertray is still in one piece but i still have a mark on my reinforced sump! I check mine all the time and remember what rounds i catch on and avoid!

Both cars are looking great, fancy doing a photoshoot sometime?

theres the front crossmember inbetweent the sump and the ground, plenty of protection;)

Your car looks sweet. I like the black foglamp surrounds, i was thinking of doing mine, now ive seen yours, it looks good. Great photos by the way.

Looking very nice indeed.

Must say i'm quite taken by the black magic foglight surrounds. Might have to show the mrs as her's is silver. :D

Cheers

Dave.

P.S. thanks for all the good comments.

Have you fitted the lower drop links for the suspension? I wanna go lower on the front of mine, but a little worried incase I will need to change them!

I've just brought the shorter drop lins for mine as sometime the front anti roll bar hits the drive shafts :(

Any of you MK guys signing up for the TRAX show? (see my sig) It's only a tiny drive to Silverstone for you lot. :D

I can im going with my local club otherwise i would sorry

Phil, I can't believe how similar my car will look to yours when I finally get my new wheels fitted nextTuesday (Octy Spidey 16" finished in VW metallic grey!).

I recently bought some new fog lights surrounds, thinking I was going to paint them black. But I was happy with the unpainted finish I left them (especially when seeing how stone chipped the original ones got).

I've also got a milotec grille but might change back the std one as I recently had the chrome bit body coloured. I've also got colour coded handles so I reckon you should keep yours black!!!!

I'll post some pics when I get them on...

Car looks well indeed. IMHO remove rear badges and remove door rubbing strips.

Nice, the SE looks lower - but is that the 16" std wheels causing that?

The only thing that caught my eye - sort of 'out of place' - was the front bumper splash guard bits. The standard little extensions at each side of the bumper (what *are* they for??) Yours are silver so make the LCR splitter look a bit of a bolt on. Maybe just black them out with underseal?

Love the wheel colour. The door rub strips give a longer look to the car, removing them make it look more chunky/taller, and I think might bring the look back into proporsion and slightly more aggressive.

Andy.
