Felicia throttle stepper motor

Featured Replies

The stepper motor in the throttle body of this 1998 1.3 Felicia is under suspicion as the cause of revs sticking at ~2000rpm. Is the part repairable or, if not, available to buy separately? If so, where might I get one? If not then I'm thinking a whole new throttle body might be required which could well indicate a journey to the great Czech republic in the sky, unfortunately.

Thanks,

Si

No it isnt replaceable seperately.

they are not seperately replaceable, however, i had 2 dodgy ones and i managed to take them apart and swapped bits and made one good one. took me ages and i couldent properly re-seal it but its been working fine for 2 years now!

the most diffucilt part was getting all the little springs back in their proper places

Our '98 Felicia 1.3 had the throttle body fail in much the way you describe about two years ago.

BBA reman did a refurb then, but it was about 200 UKP.

The link suggests they currently supply new, so it might be even more.

That's almost what the car is worth now, according Glass's...

Sounds about right. Thanks all, I'll have to look around for a secondhand one.

Before you write off the throttle body make sure that it isn't your inlet manifold gasket that is stuffed as this causes revs to stick if there is an air leak.

they are peanuts to buy and easy to fit

Thanks, but I already changed them.

The only other clue we have that it might be something else is that unplugging the water temp sensor makes no difference whatsoever to the running at all, at any temperature.

What is wrong with trying one from a scrappy? The fault could be the temp sender, if the ecu side of the sender is telling the ecu that it is cold it will enrichen the mixture, this will lift the revs

I should have said - it's already got a new temp sensor too, and a stat.
