Jezza's Review of Fab VRS

Featured Replies

Dear all,

Jeremy Clarkson reviewed the Fabia VRS in 'The Times' on Sunday. Just in case you missed it, (& After a bit of hunting) I found the article on the Timeonline website... Jezza's Review

Personally I would skip to page 2 and read the real meat of the review. The rest is a bit of a rant (as is his style, No offence intended Mr Clarkson if you are readin this  ). I dont agree with his view that it's ugly, but each to their own...

See ya

Banger :)

I drive one and I think it's ugly, but as I've said before you don't see the outside when you're driving it.

Jeremy Clarkson verdict, "The thrills of a hot hatch in a practical, comfortable and economical package"

The rating for the Fabia VRs 4 out of 5 stars

Not bad coming from the man himself.

Anyone know if it's made the Cool Wall yet? :)

Don't understand all these comments of ugliness??

I am constantly told how nice it looks...100% positive comments in fact!

One of my mates is so chuffed with the whole package,INCLUDING the looks,he's going to buy one too!

So what IS better looking for the same money ..new? 206? :thumbdwn: Clio :thumbdwn: Fiesta :thumbdwn: Corsa :thumbdwn: Polo :thumbdwn: Getz  Rover city  C2 :( C3 :thumbdwn: Jazz :P Yaris

Have I missed any? Most arn't too bad...except that indian rover THING...Yuc, but in MY opinion and no doubt someone will disagree like spinndrift Andy, the Fabia is as good looking as all of the superminis.

No one forces you to buy though do they?

It's normally a combination of pluses and minuses that guide you to your final decision and choice.

Wouldn't it be boring if we all had the same car anyway!

I wouldnt say it is ugly

From the rear I think its very nice indeed

Front is ok, but looks a bit tall and narrow, the Octy vRS has nicer front proportions

Side is its worst profile IMO - too many doors and not very sporty

But it aint ugly

Forgot the BMW mini. Not bad looking, but after reading Waynes words,I'd rather have 'ugly'

Now the original mini  45yr old design and still looks fantastic. Should never have stopped making it,imho

Ford Ka is still looking fairly fresh too for a 6 yr old. One of those love it or hate it cars.

Whats with all these boxes with red dots in 'em that have suddenly appeared in my last post please?

Sorry, they've gone now!!

Anyone know if it's made the Cool Wall yet? :)

Absolutely no chance given his initial comments re: Skoda badge etc but no surprise there really  Actually thought it was a remarkably positive piece for someone with views as biased as Clarkson. :)

And herein lies the problem with motoring journalists - lack consistency ;) And the cool wall does have sections for uncool cars too

Having seen and driven johns several times now I think they are a cracking car, not to keen on the front the headlights and the grill looks a bit poo but the rest is okay... the interior is fairly plain but nice and laid out well... they so should have had leather tho like shown in that re-trim thread that would have just made it spot on for me :D

Test drove one a while ago a silsbury in cramlington, crap test drive in a bright yellow one with VRS stickers all over it sitting very close to the wheel due to a 6ft 3 sales rep behind me on the back seat.

This gave me a bad impression and the dash board didn't help it much either, but then I test drove a seat leon cupra diesel and the day afer drove another vRS fabia this time in red at philip whilks in durham.

I have to admit I think the vRS has far more character and looks a bit nicer than the leon especially compared to the leon's interior.

I can certainly see why people don't like them at first but have a few test drives and compare them to most rivals and for

The Leon's a FABULOUS looking car (in Cupra form) esp from behind, and I don't think the Fab compares too well with it. However, that aside, the Fab's still a cool-looking car. Look at the Corolla, new Astra and new Golf (esp the front!) (to name a few). They all bare more than a passing resemblance to the Fabia!

I would agree from the back (the bit of the fabia I don't like) that the cupra is a nicer car but from the front and most importantly the interior and the seats I think the fabia wins hands down. Apart from the leon's cup holder in the dash

Leon = Octavia

Fabia = Ibiza

no no no no no no no, :) in the nicest possible way,

Te ibiza is a horrid looking car and should be shot out of a cannon into a brick wall then replaced with a fabia :), in my opinion, not that it really counts

And what may i ask is wrong with the Fabia's in-dash cupholder? :D:rofl:

I didn't realise it had an in dash cup holder!!!

does it have one????? or is it the ones built into the glove box lid :(

my corolla has some of the best cup holders in the world which I will miss, can hold anything from 2 cans of pop without spilling as long as you take a small sip out of the can, up to full sized drinks from macdonalds again witout spilling

Octavia has the best cup holder - cracking bit of engineering the way it folds up.

I could spend hours opening and closing it but don't have time.

It's like the petals of a flower elegantly unfolding... ;)

The Fabia is dash one is similarly ingenious!

This is Colin's. Note that it affects the radio antenna, so you can no longer pick up Classic FM, hence the stereo is tuned to Radio 3... ;)
