Looks like i may endup with a company car soon so what to do with the VRS??? as I don't need two family sized cars on the road but the company car will be a 1.6 diesel focus so not exactly fun.

my plan has always been to fix the few niggles i have with it and then leave it alone with just the remap.

but

ive been thinking that it could be a good way to start toying with modifying as the 1.8t is fairly well understood so a good way into modding.

Option 1) keep it and turn it into a track machine???

or

Option 2) Fix the niggle and sell it for something more fun to begin with???

or

Option 3) Fix niggles and buy something like a LCR and get silly with that??? (suggestions welcome)

So whats the opinions?

Fix the niggle and get something else fun IMO

I would go with option 1 although I wouldn't make it a fully dedicated track car but a very fast road car :o

Get yer credit card out and do her justice:D

Steve

Option 2 - flog it and get something more suitable/reliable :)

I would be tempted to fix the niggles and keep it.

The main reason is,for what you will get for it you will be better to keep it as long as you think it is a reliable car.

If you decide to keep it.....start by stripping most of the interior out and get yourself a pair of bucket seats, then suspension/arbs and some track day pads.

Power should be done after all of the above.

if i do start to mod it will have a small stereo in as i love good sounding music and its the only place currently i have any.

I think you know my answer already, there is nothing more satisfiying than overtaking what most people would consider quicker cars. I know the Octavia is not the best platform to start on, but believe me with the right components and patience tweeking the suspension you'd be amazed how well these cars can handle. People don't like being embarresed by Skodas and I've often had people come up to me after I've overtaken them on track asking me what I've done and complimenting me on the composure and poise of the car. Now if you had an M3 for example - nobody would give it a second thought.

At the moment my car is still worth to much, but when its a little older it will be gutted and turned into a lightweight weapon

Have you seen how much you can buy a 2002 with 60K on the clock for on Ebay :eek::eek:

If you can get a good price then sell it......not sure what price your hoping to get though?

keep her,

take her off road and keep tweekin her over the year then next year it will all be done and tax her and go for a blowout,

KEEP KEEP KEEP

track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track track

So thats another who thinks you should track it perhaps

:rofl:you sure? dont think I got that? is that TRACK it?

:)

glad i could help.

well i would like to think id get atleast 5k (is this about right???) if i sold it once everything is working as it really is in spankingly good condition with hardly any stone chips.

i know what your saying about annoying people with it been a skoda as ive had this a lot on a few of the piston head runs where its kept up and left some supposedly quicker machinery and theyve all said how good it looked doing it.

hmmmm

a clean and shiny car isn't really worth more just easier to sell.

Mmm... finger-lickin' good!

In other, slightly-more-sensible news...

Fast road, or sell it and get something raw :)

I voted option 1,

Rich, I dont know how old your vRS is but its surprising how little some are worth now. Looking on autotrader its possible to get an 02 reg for 3.5K, see this example. Its possible to get early ones with reasonable mileage for the same.

this is what concerns me as its an 01 but with only 40k on the clock of which ive put nearly 15k on in under 10 months. its worth a lot to me but doesnt appear to be so on autotrader and ebay really. i suppose its only worth what i want to the right person.

They are selling for 2.5k -3.5k on E-bay 2001/2002 mileage from 50k-90K

If you have the money turn it into a track car :D

What about this one  is it valued right do you think?

Auto Trader UK - SKODA OCTAVIA 1.8T VRS=

big mileage so i wouldn't be willing to pay that but im a mileage freak as the cars ive owned with over 100k have all felt it even though many people preach about them not been run in until then.

i reckon someone would pay the price for mine. id hope. well shall get on with fixing and then decide once its all done.

cheers guys n gals

rich,if your getting a company car sell the rs itll save you a load of money
