I'm finding it hard to contain my rage more down to the sheer arrogance and rudeness, it costs nothing to be polite!

Please let us know the outcome

As some of you may know, I am a traffic cop and........................

I have to agree with you,:thumbup: what a complete RS !!

I have always worked on the principle of treating "customers" (as we now have to call them !!) the same way that I would wish to be dealt with if I was in their position, and in almost 20 years of service have yet to go wrong !!! :):)

There are occasions when I have got it wrong, and thought someone may have done something wrong, when they actually haven't, and it must either be the common sense or decency in me, but I have always apologised to the driver and sent them on their way in a good frame of mind, and hopefully still feeling positive about the British police.

What is the point in being a bili....belij.....beliger.... gobby RSole just to try and prove a point, when all it does is show you up to be a t*sser, and then have the case come tumbling down around your ears !!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

It makes my blood boil when idiots like this give the rest of us a bad name !!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

What a jolly fellow, poor chap must be light on work so found himself something to do... Glad I didn't opt for the Xenons!

How very nicely put. Doesn't help anyone, least of all the "punter".

it does make me wonder about mine really. ive never been happy with mine and when i came face to face with a cop car last night he put his lights onto full beam, so did i, shame he couldnt turn round quick enough

What a complete n0b.

As mentioned above, the officers with that attitude give the others a bad name.

i know quite a few officers who are a great laugh etc, but then i know loads that are complete kn0bs and others that love to power trip. its the same in any profession you will always have bad apples no matter where you look.

Chatting to a "propper" traffic cop the other day and he is well cheesed off with the lowering of standards in traffic for ARV firearms officers. Is this true?

Depends where he works !!

Most of my traffic colleagues take great pride in persecuting scumbags and leaving the decent law-abiding (mostly !!) motorists alone :):).

But on the subject of ARV's, I went to a bump last week where one of them had not only managed to write-off his '07 plate Volvo V70, but also a MkII Octy taxi and a 32 foot limo as well :o:O Doh !!

Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt, but the hen-party in the limo had to finish their evening in 2 smelly taxis :D:D !!

What a t*$$£r. I really hope you get this orted out Phil, and he get's what he deserves.

Go Phil!!!

Sounds rediculous. Be proud that you can bite your lip, I wouldn't be able to.

Can you let it go to court?? Would be simply hilarious imho!

No IIRC you *have* to show the evidence before hand or the Judge will be ****ed.

If you show it to them, they ignore it and then you go to court you're lawyer will rip the CPS lawyer a new a$$hole assuming the barrister doesn't say we don't have a case.

I think if it had been me I would have asked the copper to prove it to me before he wrote his ticket

Does disclosure work both ways now?

Does disclosure work both ways now?

Depends. Are you SWMBO? :o

Well from what I am told and (IANAL), if the prosecution was to rely on evidence it hasn't shown the defence or vice versa, the side that hasn't seen it can ask for a deferment of the case.

Point I was getting was if you hide that you have proof that it's factory fit and then it goes to court, the judge would be annoyed at the courts time being wasted and you might be unpopular. I guess that they might not award you full costs or something as you wasted time.

If you show the evidence to the other side, and even with this proof they take it to court it's going to make them look very very silly.

I'd want the guy taken off the streets and formal training given along with a kicking for his attitude.

On seeing the evidence CPS will no doubt drop it on the day or even the day before. the fact of an engineers report reporting no faults with headlight and operating correctly to within the requirements of the law, that the car doesnt need an light adjuster inside the car and that the xenons have automatic leveling etc will no doubt pee off cps too when they realise they have got no chance.

I'd just take it up the local cop shop along with a copy from a skoda dealer saying the car has factory fit lights and the place a formal complaint about the t0$$er in question.

nah id wait for court now and when its thrown out at the last minute ask cps under the freedom of information act how much the case has cost tax payers and then go off to the media to tell ones story and the woeful cost to the public and what a **** the officer is

Again IANAL, however I would have thought if you do that and you could have sorted it all early the Magistrate or Judge will no doubt not award you costs and if they were really p*ssed I guess they could actually award costs against you even if you were found not guilty.

Certainly a complete waste of public money, but then a couple of barristers will get £50 to turn up.

How you getting along with this phil ? any update ?

Sorry I went away for a few days so didn't update.

I took the car to a local Skoda dealer who very kindly inspected the lights and then wrote a brief note on headed paper to say that they are un-modified, factory fitted xenons. I also asked a Traffic officer from work to inspect the lights and write a brief note of his findings.

I also collected together various bits of information:

- Photos of standard headlights, the xenons on my car and those fitted to an L&K.

- A number of print-outs from ETKA detailing the various part numbers and exploded diagrams.

- A copy of the government legislation surrounding the use of xenon headlights.

I then wrote a two page letter, explaining my displeasure at the way this situation was handled by the officer in question.

All the above was bundled together and delivered by hand to the force H/Q. Today I received a standard letter saying that my information is receiving their attention. I will update when I hear more. :)

hehehe, this should be good!

Can we get the moment the officer gets hauled in on youtube please.

Nice one Phil. Should be a good result this.
