How much more life is in the Defender?

Featured Replies

They may be very good off road, but they are horrible to drive on it. We had some at work for towing stuff about, your right arm is pressed against the window and you had to turn the steering wheel 180 degrees before just to take up the slack, and the ride is sadistic. They wouldn't start half the time either. Leave them to farmer Palmer.

I'd love top have a Camel Trophy Defender. Just as soon as I have bought a forest somewhere ;)

When i bought my Disco TD5 , landrover gave me a days free off-road driving at their Landrover Experience place Coniston Hall over nr Skipton , pretty impressive what you can actually do in a Discovery , half the stuff i wouldnt even try in any other 4x4 .

Might not be the best looking motor but they do exactly what it says on the tin

Yup. Every decent terrorist/gorilla fighter uses a hi-lux with rear mounted guns. ;)

Notice a common feature with these Lawn rovers ?

..they all have a roof cage to stick the bits in thats fall off when they go over 50mph ?

My uncle lives out in South Africa can whenever the Land Cruiser or the Patrol gets stuck the sand as they are just too heavy he has a really rubbish 40 year old, rusty, no exhaust, V8 carb'd Defender complete with narrow tyres and somehow it skates over the sand and bush and then amazinly pulls a 2.4 ton Nissan out of the sand....

I was amazed by it!

Must admit I wondered about these as I walked past a dealers about a month ago full of the things. All at ridiculous prices :D

Agree totally, for what they are, they are hugely over-priced.OK, they are great off-road, but the price is just extortionate.

Defender has had it's day IMHO. It's over priced and under performing when compaired to modern alternatives.

Unless you're a farmer that wants something cheap to repair a bent panel on that can drive itself out of almost any situation it can get into and doesn't care about the road as much as you care about getting up to the top of the dales etc in the winter in thick snow so you can get to your animals.

They also hold there value very well.
