Air filter Advice.....

Featured Replies

Hello all.

Just wondering if an induction kit would be beneficial for a couple of horses or is the standard set up as good.Maybe a replacment element, pipercross or K&N??

What does everyone think and use:confused::confused:

TA....................

pipercross panel filters are pretty good and let the engine breathe better than stock:thumbup:

ive got a bmc cda... quite good.

Induction kit on it's own will not get much if any gains!

I have the ABD induction kit but that just gives me more noise :D

BMC CDA is a good choice, as mentioned above. Just about one of the only filters which gives a good gain on it's own. My Corrado VR6 went from 190bhp to 197bhp with the BMC. Others have also had similar gains- usually 4-8bhp.

i have a green filter in mine, makes a slight bit more noise and a slight bit more responsive, but nothing wild and worth writing home about.

I have had a pipercross induction kit and suffered with heatsoak during the summer so actually lost power, I then got an ebay CAI and never really gained anything but it does make cool noises with a lovely Pssst as the DV opens.

I have now gone back to standard airbox with pipercross panel filter purely because I got paranoid about water intake every time it rained, plenty of people on here have got CAI systems and have never had a problem with water intake and I have to say I do miss the noises it made but am happy with what I have now

I've had my Pipercross on for about a yesr and I'm perfectly happy with it so far. Makes the DV noise a bit more noticeable - not sure about gains though

I went for a good old K&N panel (you literally can't go wrong).

Safe, reliable, OEM look, no heat soak and guaranteed performance gains.

Oh and you can clean it, so will literally last forever with it's lifetime guarantee.

Also allows for a louder DV noise, as it's alot thinner and harder than the standard thick paper wadge!

Cheers folks.

Might just replace the panel with a K&N or a Pipercross then.................

You will be safer putting a genuine Skoda air filter in - stops them police in their tracks when they open your bonnet and check for undeclared mods with your insurance company. The Skoda airbox has good induction anyway. Why spend £100 on a K&N? for 2-3bhp

You must know that you can already blow away most cars on the road anyway? You can get the an approximate power to weight ratio gain if you run your car on half a tank of fuel instead from full - and you will get slightly better economy from the higher octane fuel, and not from Tescos goto shell and buy their premium fuel.

Try it!

Just use OEM paper filters every 10k

I think you're just trying to wind people up...

but while everyone else is chipping in, I have a slightly off-yellow filter in mine. Doesn't seem to make any bloody difference to the power...

...and why are you lot still up at half past two in the morning? I've just got in from work!

K&N panel is £50 and better than OEM. Stop being an argumentative ****.

i'd like to see some proof of that:) i reckon the power gains would be approximately 0%
