Washing Machine

Featured Replies

Still never bought one. Much like grr666, have always moved into a house, which already had one. Even when I purchased my first home, our brand new Hotpoint washing machine was given to us by the housing developer as they had fudged up.... amazingly fresh smelling clothes now :)

The old hotpoints were OK,but later ones are crap . All love motor brushes, which are a dadwl to change .

  • I'll put an end to this discussion right now;   Miele all the way.   Had our Mlele washer eleven years now, never broken down.   Miele condenser dryer, same length, no faults.   Miele dishwash

  • LOL at the way this is turning into a washing machine willy-waving competition

  • We've been serial Miele buyers for a few years now, after our thrid cheapo washing machine died after 3 years. We've invested in washer, drier, dishwasher and vacuum cleaner, which were all bl00dy exp

Miele Washing machine that my mum purchased at the end of 1985 I decided to finally say no to doing a major repair! The main bearing for the drum was defo bad! Had been making faint noises for about 1yr. But you have to strip the web out and the drum etc etc! Also the motor bearings were on their way out again!

Since it was purchased in 1985 it only required 2 replacement on/off buttons, 1 drive belt, 1 set of motor bearings!

So we got a new Miele in April this year!

Also have a Miele dryer which she bought back in 1985 (same time as the first washing machine) and I need to replace the drive belt on that, and maybe the bearings, but it's a much simpler job!

Also purchased a separate Miele under counter fridge and freezer (2 separate units) a few years ago as the last Bosch combined fridge/freezer didn't last anywhere near as long as our first one! Also the separate units consume LESS power than the combined ones!! Mainly because they don't have the stupid "frost free" function which is the main cause of fridge failures and consumes more power     :wall:

EDIT:

Also forgot that she also has a Miele rotary iron which she bought back in 1995 to make doing the sheets easier!

We also have a samsung. Came with a 5yr warranty.

Considered the LGs at the time who had a 10yr warranty on the motor.

Virtually all of the inverter motors have a 10yr warranty.

We just replaced a Bosch with another Bosch. I think we got almost 10 years out of the first one before it seemed to suffer something terminal. Took some hammer as well.
