So okay, who is going to pick holes in the brouchure! I like the reference to water melons in relation to the load carrying capacity - who the hell has 113 water melons to carry about and who has any idea what comparitively 113 water melons is! Presumably they are whole water melons and not smashed ones!

:P

Dealers have them too if you want a 'real' copy

Okay. I'll start. Issue I see are as follows:

1) All shots of Elegance show wood trim, leading people to believe it's standard.

2) Elegance has heated fronts seats as standard, yet brochure quotes a price of £170 for heated front and rear seats. I pointed this out to Skoda nearly 3 weeks ago when I was ordering, but they still haven't sorted it out.

3) Elegance has rear window sunblind as standard, yet there still isn't a price for just side window sunblinds on the Elegance. Dealer ordering system still only allows for ordering both rear and side sunblinds on the Elegance, so you are paying again for the rear one. Also pointed this out about 3 weeks ago, but still nothing has been done to fix it.

On the plus side, I have been able to confirm that Steel Grey is the same as Platin Grey, as they've both got the same paint code (2G2G).

just out of interest, Front parking sensors are an option on the Elegance at £280, however Park assist is £350.

I am led to believe that Park Assist uses the front sensors to work so if I order Park Assist will I not just get the front sensors anyway, might as well just pay the extra £70 if I'll get both.

Yep. If you order park assist you get front sensors, and two extra sensors on the front wheel arches. It's a no brainer really. Why anyone would order just the front sensors is a mystery to me.

Quick one:

By default Elegance model comes with 'Rear mechanical sunblind' but not the side ones (they cost extra). What if I order 'sunset glass from b-pillar'. Does my car still have 'Rear mechanical sunblind'?

One more:

Can someone explain to me what is: 'Variable boot floor'?

Many thanks.

You still get the sunblind, even if you order sunset glass.

With regards to variable boot floor. This is a raised platform in the boot with a liftable cover. It's useful for stashing things like laptops etc. so that they can't be seen.

I'd like to order sun clinds for my new Superb :p

Thank you Bugpuss.

I hope they have got rid of the pollen filter and the holes to stop water ingress ruining the internal wiring

I would have thought Skoda would have upped the warranty from 3 years 60k miles to 3 or 4 years unlimited, a 5 year one would have seen them shift a shed load

Remember we are talking VAG here not a Jap company...:D

Yes, people like Hyundai and Kia offer these warranties because they are confident that they are fairly bulletproof. After owning a 7 year old Skoda at one point, and reading many threads on here, Skoda would be very silly to have such a long warranty

However, theres plenty of customers who want a car with road presense, a long company history and just some good old fashioned charachter rather than some asian knock off with a long warranty, not to mention residual values.

While i'm ranting, I think the Superb is marketed all wrong. The watermelon thing is ridiculous to start, but the main thing that gets me is in the driving pictures, it's some old guy in a grey suit with his misses (or probably his secretary) alongside. Skoda, I don't want to see charles and camilla wafting along in a carr like this.

I want to see a black 4x4 V6, at night, in an empty car park meeting a range rover for a drugs deal, I really think that some more spicy hollywood advertising will get people in rather than just catering to the tena-lady crowd!

These days, I reckon VAG could offer a 5 year warranty without too much problem. They just don't need to. As you say, people will buy the cars, regardless; and they know it.

I completely agree. Given that they reckon 80% of sales will be fleet buyers, I don't see why they can't have two advertising campaigns. One that keeps the 55+ retirees happy (which is where most of the private sales will go), and another which really appeals to the company car driver.

Now, where did I put my incontinence pants :D

Spot on :)

Damn, forgot my "tenapads" for men.

Anyhow visited AutoHaus Northampton to find they don't have a clue when they are getting the brochures on the new Superb.

So went for a test drive in one of the other options on my list for changing early next year.

Mitsubishi Lancer GS4 with 138BHP PD VW Diesel. Wow. all the poke of my old Superb 130Tdi. And kit to make even the new Superb look underfurnished.

Touch screen Sat nav, Heated Leather seats etc. Ride ok despite standard 18" alloys, but that VW lump is still noisy... But sure as hell looks good...:)

Any-how Insignia next, when test drive available. then it's decido time...

Superb SE, Lancer, Insignia - quality, kit, or 20" alloys....

Finally got my mits on a brochure. thanks to AutoHaus Northampton.

Much nicer than trying to read a pdf...

What I also saw was a gray hardback book on the new Superb. After a quick flick through it, decided would like a copy.

Anyone on here know how I can get hold of a copy??? and at what cost?

I sent an e-mail to Skoda Auto in CZ, and they are sending me a copy of the grey book.

Just give them an e-mail.

Update, 2 cars arrived at Preston today!

Looking at the brochure and it seems the "Catvision ambient interior lighting" (grand name!) = a couple of white LED's up near the rear view mirror (as per the red ones in VW/Audis which i never really found that impressive TBH).

These days other manufacturers are pushing the boat out a bit more on interior lighting to improve the driving environment and premium feel of the interior (Citroen C5 has glowing light strips along the dash). Can anyone enlighten me (no pun intended!) on whether those 2 LED's are it for the Superb?

I hope they have put a light in the rear operated by the driver, so that passengers can get the seat belts fastened at night.

I had to do this on mine I obtained 2 replacement side ones from an old passat without the switches and wired them to the front one worked a treat

In the LHD car I looked at, the two white LEDs was all you appeared to get. The brochure would seem to indicate the same.

Personally, I was never too fussed on the original red LEDs, so perhaps the white ones will be an improvement.
