New Octavia RS Tdi Common Rail Owner

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I just bought myself a Octavia RS Tdi common rail last week. My first diesel in fact and I just wanted to say hi. I had a Mkv gti which I enjoyed and hopefully I will have enjoy this car as much.

I'm looking at remapping it with superchips, apparently they are the only ones that can do the new ecu for the moment, plus they work closely with VW UK tuning the cars for the VW Cup race series. I might go the bluefin route. The only thing that has me hesitating is some of the stories about the new ecu's locking out when people try to remap them, although I'm sure superchips have this well sorted especially since they work so close with VW UK for the cup cars.

Any thoughts from fellow members?

Welcome.

That's what they say on their website.

Superchips are ok but I'm sure they aren't the only people mapping CR engines.

Has anyone done a re-map for the VAG 2.0 170 CR engine yet ?

Welcome to Briskoda anyway

I think I'll takke the plung in the next couple of weeks and get the bluefin for the car. I know the RS is quick and it has a good amount of torque, but I miss the power of the gti at the moment and the extra torque and bhp the bluefin will give the RS a new lease of life, especially for overtaking :-)

just got a lush white vrs cr tdi in today for our showroom. went for a quick drive up the road to see how it feels. its so quiet vs the old tdi and the release of power is so smooth!

i dont think the punch is there but imoa it drives more like the petrol version, in being smoother and less mental on power delivery.

welcome and great choice in car and engine :)

It dose drive very like a petrol car and the power delivery is very smooth for a diesel. I've got 1k kms on it now so time to slowly turn the wick up on it over the next thousand kms and the remap should make is run my old Gti close:thumbup:

Thanks:)

you'll have to keep us upto date with your progress with the car, as i doubt we will see one run in properly for a while!

and the remap would certainly make good reading :D

Welcome aboard. :)

Personally I'd see who else is available on the remap front. Even just for comparison reasons. ;)

I'll keep ye informed. At the moment I am managing to get 900kms from a tank which should improve over the next 4k-5k kms.

It will be superchips for the remap as I believe they have the best experience, especially tuning the VW Cup cars and the latest ECU's used in the VW's.

Thanks:)

Just got mine on tuesday - and your spot on. It drives just like a petrol car. Looking at getting mine remaped too in the very near future.

Just to having to spend the next 4 weeks across the country it will bed in quickly. Have racked up 1000 miles on it in the last 4 days - shattered from all the driving.

Will let you all know how it goes over the next 1000 miles.

jcdub, can you keep me informed of the remap, would like to know what difference you see before I shell out the cash.

Welcome :)

No problem Jamesy. I am heading away in 2 weeks time for 2 weeks and I'm getting it remaped then. I just wanted to get some more mls/kms on the engine first. There are 1k mls on it at the moment so another 800 to 1000 will be perfect. I'm getting 900 kms(560mls) from a tank. What are you getting?
