Harsh sports suspension and Xenon height issue sorted!

Featured Replies

Today had a service, and the good folks at Autohaus sorted the Xenon height issue.

Lights are calibrated correctly, and no issues on VAGcom. However they found the rubber blocks, that should have been removed during PDI, still there!

Removed now, and the sports suspension isnt has harsh SWMBO says (not driven myself yet).

So the question is what damage could there be having done 18.8K with them there? Why didnt they spot on the 2 previous visits for xenon issues?

where were these rubber blocks? have you got photos as i want to check this on mine having sports suspension and xenon problems. cheers.

In the front to stop them moving on the transporter.

I'm sure Stu or Ross might have a pic of a car having them left in place.

They are normally wedged in the springs, makes the car look like a tractor!!

18k miles with them in is a bit naughty.

ill have a look in the daylight as the car doesnt look any lower than when it came off the transporter and the sales rep pointed out "it will look lower once we remove the rubber blocks". i might mention this to them along with thr dodgy pdi that was performed on my car when i bought it.

Not the supplying dealer, although servicing dealer has promised to raise this via SUK.

So is it just naughty, or could there be damage? Dealer today didnt say much to SWMBO other than the supplying dealer obv didnt PDI as they also sorted the beam alignment (also not done @ PDI).

this is something apd007 has pointed out to me that needs doing so yes it looks like a dodgy pdi is quite common.

You just can't trust anyone these days.....if ya want a job doing right then it really needs to be done yourself . Bit of a joke really, ain't there something hanging from the rear view mirror that is supposed to reminds them then be removed when the blocks are.

CRIMINAL

Removed now, and the sports suspension isn't as harsh SWMBO says (not driven myself yet).

Didn't she feel it was too harsh before and make any comment? Perhaps difficult if you have no previous experience to compare with, your wife probably just though "this is a sports cars so must have firm suspension".

Probably nothing significant to the mechanics of the car; just to your/your wife's pride and the fact the ride would not have been as comfortable as it should be.

Lord only knows.

Sounds like a complete **** up all round; both from your supplying dealer AND Autohaus

Wow - so if Ive read that right then the transportation blocks (which are using put in the spring coils at the front) werent removed by the dealer at PDI and have been on the care for 18,000miles?!

I bet it felt harsh

Surely the dampers would have been working overtime and doing some of the work that the springs were designed to do?

Glad you have found the problem but I think that pretty poor of the supplying dealer.

I'd argue the harsh ride comfort has been unbearable and you may at least get a freebie service out of the dealership for their incompetence

Happened to me when I had my new Audi A2. That, along with a few other bits (last new Audi I'll ever buy) forced them into replacing the car. Although the second Audi was just as crap.

What annoyed me was that I asked them twice about the hard ride and they didn't notice until the third time. Got sod all compensation out of them as they thought replacing my first car was good enough (despite the numerous trips to the dealer, messed about with no information etc). Sorry, turning this into an Audi bashing post now!

nothing was hanging from the rear view mirror, as one of the first things i extracted from the car was the manuals to take home and read (something the sales guy said they dont normally allow).

It's a personal lease (with maintenance) ;)

well they looked at mine and said one headlight was higher than the other. but marked on the garage door they both sit at the same height. only a night drive tonight will tell.

Driving the car today, car feels softer in ride, and better grip round the country lanes round here above 40.

Before the ride was too firm, and didnt feel quite as good as it does now. Not quite on rails, but much better feedback as to holding the road, and the limits you can go.

Anyone that says their ride is too harsh with the sports suspension (either as 17" upgrade or Sport - as VRS is different) gets their checked for blocks still in the suspension!

Not tested the lights yet, so will report when we have. Likley SWMBO, as she drives it weekdays whilst I enjoy (NOT) my company Mondeo.

Good thing you don't have the roads we get around here. 18k miles and it would be creaking from every possible place.
