Morrisons cuts three pence off price of fuel

Morrisons cuts three pence off price of fuel - Telegraph
Morrisons has cut three pence of the price of petrol and diesel in a move likely to be followed by its rivals.

It was the fourth time that the supermarket chain, which has 285 forecourts across the country, has cut prices in the past two months.

This will bring its average petrol prices down to 107.7 pence a litre and diesel to 119.2 pence.

Still less than the cut should be.

about time - it should be a lot more tho with the price of oil coming down................

I noticed with pleasure that in the North and Midlands earlier in the week unleaded was down to 109.9 in a lot of places - imagine my disappointment on driving past my local Shell to discover it's still 115.9!

I paid 109.9p at morrisons 2 days ago, so another 3p off that is nice.

I noticed this last night diesel is now 117 a litre.

Will be filling the car up tonight me thinks.

It's still a rip off.

The remaining 12-17p off would be good thanks.

and put it under the £1 mark. saw this in the paper today, im sure after a week the other supermarkets will start looking at under cutting each other with this we a penny cheaper business, after all they got another 10p worth to play with and certainly can afford it if sainsburys and tescos have been doing the 5p off with 50 quids worth of shopping thing for past month or so.

Morrisons are 106p in my town

The Morrisons in Welyn has had petrol at £1.10p for a few weeks now.

BP was a penny cheaper than Tesco tnight. First time I've seen that. I suppose Tesco are going to cash in on the Friday/Saturday busy period and drop it on Sunday or Monday

I posted this at the start of August:

similar on plain u/l and derv in Manchester yesterday.

I don't know if anyone else feels the same but when prices were rising, prices would be static for a few days and then when I filled up the following morning the price would have gone up by a penny.

And now its going down, I fill up on the way home from work at one price and by the next day its dropped again.

Well yesterday I was as far on vapours as I've ever been, travelled 8 miles with the range on 0 and ended up buying nearly 50 litres at 109.9p at about half past 9 last night. Its been 109.9p for weeks.

Today I drove past the same station at about 4pm and the price had dropped to 106.9p

Lets get this in perspective - supermarkets have not cut the cost of fuel, they are simply passing on PART of the cuts in wholesale prices. Price shave been coming down at independents just the same. Yet another attempt by the big retailers to get free media coverage.

Yes, noticed this with surprise on the way home.

ill still stand by my comments earlier that over the coming weeks the supermarkets will start doing more 5p off promotions and the "we are the cheapest at joe bloggs supermarkets" in a bid to get free advertising out of it.

A lot of local radio stations now do a cheapest petrol bit on it, usually in the breakfast and drive time shows and usually the cheapest is a supermarket.

My local Tesco is still charging £1.16 for 99RON which has not changed for the last 6 weeks

I did note that when the cuts were in effect Shell cut to 105.9 in my area but the prices seem to be rising once again......slowly

Hadn't noticed this supermarket cut, but was a little surprised to see a couple of local Shells at 119.9 for diesel yesterday. Earlier in the week, the norm was 122-124.9.

Our Shell has dropped their prices to match Morrisons.

Nice one, hope they follow suit up here. That's what I was hoping to happen, as this one seems to run best on Shell :)

Went to fill up at Tesco and they are still selling petrol at £1.14 L, i thought they were ment to bring the price down.

Local Tesco hasn't budged. I've read that they are promising to drop the price.

Most other companies are down a couple of p.

I went to Morrisons last night to put £20's worth of diesel in @ £1.189... so SWMBO could use my car... turned up at 20:01 and it shut at 20:00!! Doh!

Ended up putting some in at £1.219 at Esso - today they dropped it to match Morrisons! Grrr! :)

Down to £1.13 today

I've seen lots of places that have dropped unleaded , but diesel hasn't fallen so the gap is back up to 13p instead of the 9 or 10 that it was a week or two back.
