Upgrading Fabia vRS brakes

Featured Replies

I want to uprate the Fabia's brakes with the Octavias all round. Is it fairly easy to do and I take it they fit in the std wheel space.

Best off speaking to Ross, Col (Neo) or Fluffy Bunny as I know those three have upgraded the front brakes and I think Ross was doing his rears.

Fronts are easy to do. just need the calipers and carriers from a Octy vRS Audi TT/S3 and they will bolt right on

rears not-so easy.. and i think aint needed (the new ibiza cupra tdi and 20vt only have the standard 232mm rears)

what size are the octy vrs brakes?

Tom.

312mm at the front.

I was considering this upgrade as well, any ideas on price (Including fitting, as I'm a total muppet with a spanner and promised the wife I would never try fixing a car again after the HT lead incident :uglyhamme )

And can somebody confirm that the Octy 312 mm front brakes will fit a Furby vRS with the standard 16" alloys? Or is it a case of new brakes and new wheels?

Cheers,

Yes they will fit behind std wheels... just !! :D

It will prob cost

Would just upgrading the pads on the standard brake setup make a big difference?

It would make a slight difference.. but i think the main problem with the std brakes is that they are a poor design. but iirc no-one makes suitable pads atm

I wondered about doing that and upgrading the fluid, but leaving the standard discs on. I would *guess* that this would be enough for most people, speaking personally, although the standard brakes are not amazing, mine dont seem as bad as what some people say theirs were, and I drive pretty fast most of the time.

Edit: I am surprised you cant get good pads for the Fabia yet, after all doesnt the Leon Cupra TDI, Ibiza FR etc all use 288mm discs and therefore, similar/same calipers?

If I don't find the job too hard, I could fit them as long as you live near East London/essex

No... we all originally thought this when it first came out.. but turns out that they are a different design.. only found on this platform (ibiza, fabia, Polo) with the tdi130 in.

maybe pads are available now.. but there wasnt when i last looked :(
