Petrol vRS ECU Recall

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Had a call from my dealer today advising that they have just received a recall for the ECU on my petrol vRS, something to do with errant engine problem warning lights (though I've not had the problem myself). Does anybody know anything more about this and the other ECU changes they will be making? He mentioned fuelling but mine is running great and giving me big MPG too so I'm happy at the moment.

Car is April 2007 BTW.

Any help much appreciated.

Leave well alone if you have had it mapped :)

It's not a recall and it's an old campaign. 2k45 or something.

24k5 ;)

if you do get it done then your ecu will have to learn your driving style all over again and for the first 100 miles will have crap mpg till the car has learnt your style once again.

I'd personally speak with the tuner if your engine is mapped and arrange for the update to be done then your car given a new map based on your new software.

The old map will be built on top of the old software most likely.

Certainly where the ECU is concerned I'd be wanting it to be done.

I'm surprised it's taken them this long to advise you as most had this done early this year! Only affects 2007MY and before iirc.

Has andfit had a remap? Can't see it mentioned in his initial post.

Either way, if you have a Superchips BlueFin you just need to download the new 24K5 map, send it to them and they will return a new remap to you (Have just has a 26E6 Skoda remap/upgrade done on my Vrs TDI, I've been making enquiries about getting it remapped).

Thanks for the info guys, I'm not running a remap as it happens though it often goes through my mind... ;)

I had the car serviced a couple of months back and the economy got better following that, but I'd put that down to fresh oil etc. Is it not likely that they would already have done this update then?

I'm interested in the comment above about the ECU learning your driving style. Does the standard ECU have that ability? Is it really only 100 miles to learn your style again? I drive about 100 miles a day just commuting so this isn't the end of the world but in my mind the car runs great already.

If the economy gets worse after the map long-term I'll be a bit narked as at the moment on long runs with the cruise set at 70mph I'm getting 40-41mpg average! Even with normal driving at 75-80mph and town and lanes too I'm getting about 37mpg average from a tank, scarcely believable numbers I know having read some people's posts on "economy"!

If you had a service recently then yes this update should have been done. If it has been done then you should have a sticker in the boot under the carpet and an annotation in the service book.

is it just vrs stu? never had this sticker on mine when it was serviced the other week.

Yes this one is for TFSi and only a limited number of them.

ah thats cool, i know they have done something to the ecu as it seems more smoother pulling away in the mornings now.

There was an update for the 2.0. I have told you all of this before :P

Hi, I'm looking for some help on this recall. It was performed on a client's RS Combi and has made the sounds of the exhaust quieter and it seems (to the client) to be less powerfull.

The car has never been chipped, so that is not the issue of the upgrade being wiped.

Anybody heard of this before? If so, what are some fixes. We have tried driving quite hard after performing upgrade, but no luck with that.

Thanks

James

Interesting one. My car is REVO'd and it got called for this update about a year ago. The dealer says they flashed it but the REVO is still there.

Recently I was getting a brake fluid change at a main Audi dealers who are Skoda service agents. They checked to see if there was any recalls against the car and there was none. I asked about the 24K5 and they said it was done.

Mickvrs had a couple of warning lights last week and he went and got his car flashed by the dealer. His map is still on there after the reflash.

This reflash must only be "patch" - partial software update.

The 24k5 update wiped my REVO map. Mine was an '06 car.
